did your jubilee clip solve the problem? I've just started having trouble with my 800gs and i'm not sure if it's worth taking the hose off all together and roughing up the surface to aid friction or just use a jubiee clip as you did? What do you think? awful design floor really, seems a problem at high revs mostly.
@orjones25 It solved it for a while but the root cause is that the piece of metal that the hose attached too was too short. In addition to this the hose was also too short. To compound the problem the metal was painted. As soon as the engine heated up, the hose heated up and slid right off. BMW did a recall and basically roughed the surface and put on a longer hose. It worked for me. I had the bike for 9 months after it was done and it stayed on. Others on UKgser.com and advrider.com have...
Mine went in 3 times to sort this problem out. All the time a new excuse was given as to why... we ended up welding a lip the full way around on the pipe. since then it never came off. This solution was not even offered by BMW but by an old mechanic. My bike also went in for 2 other recalls. My first new bike as well as BMW ever bought and had more shit with it than all my previous bikes put together. I dont think i will buy a BMW again especially in africa. cant afford to get stuck for shit

It would be good to show also how to put the liquid refrigerant (coolant) and I understand that has to be 30% water and the remaining liquid."
Maybe somebody can do a video response to this? My coolant levels have been done by the dealer as part of the servicing and warranty schedule so up to now it is not something I have needed to do.
i'm having the same problem and several other users have been having the same problem sometimes with leak of liquid.
But unfortunely it's not the lonely one..
I bought my f 800 in March, it was one of the first delivered in Italy and I'm having many other problems like loss of oil from the engine, with the alarm etc..
I'm sure it will. They are great bikes. I love mine. It is so versatile. It's great on the open highway and for performing delicate balancing and slow manoeuvres. It's good on the rough stuff too. It's not an enduro bike but perfect for my needs.
Have you done this yourself? How many miles/KM's have you done since the fix? How many miles/KM's have you done in total on the bike. Are you also using a jubilee clip in addition to the BMW clip? What type of riding are you doing? Is it off road or predominately fast highway riding?
No, they did it on the BMW garage where I bought the bike. They didn´t use a jubilee clip, they put the original one. I´ve done around 3000km since then, 800km off road aprox.
I drive quite fast on and off road and the temperature has risen up a lot with no problems with the hose.
It is interesting that BMW do not have a uniform policy with this particular problem. Some garages put on a jubilee clip. In your case they removed the paint and kept the original clip. In my case the guy said that it might be a pressure build up and that I shouldn't put on a jubilee clip as it might transfer the pressure somewhere else. I didn't believe him and felt neither he or BMW had a proper answer or solution. We shall see what happens. Incidentally my hose only came off at 8000km
My hose didn´t actually come off, but it was going to happen (it had move around 5mm already).
I think BMW is not doing thier homework or if they are, they are not transmitting that information to the garages. I´ve met a few people on a spanish forum and they have been told different things for the same problems that we´ve got. Different anwers from BMW spain and the garages, also.
Well, it just happened to me, dumped all my coolant, thankfully, I was near home. Howerver, my dealer had ALREADY performed the hose recall, but used the old clip not a jubilee. Bikes on the way to the dealer right now. Interested to see what the new solution is.
I was at my dealership today for a recall for two other items and they acknowledged this. They say another recall for this is on the cards and that they will remove the paint from the water pump pipe and install stiffer hoses. In the meantime my fix will do the job.
ok , thanks very much for replying. I'll get it done and hopefully keep on enjoying the bike problem free! thanks, Owain

@orjones25 said that it didn't work and had to be re-done. So it wouldn't harm to have it done AND stick a jubilee clip on.

Gracias!
Seria bueno mostrar tambien como poner el liquido refrigerante (coolant) ya que entiendo que tiene que ser 30% de agua y el resto liquido.

The dealers now have a fix. They have provided a new tube and now make the water pump pipe rough so that it holds the tube better.
I chose not to have an alarm as people ignore them and they always cause problems.
I'm sorry to hear about your engine oil problem. Thats not good.

If you take the paint off the tube the problem is solved, the hose won´t slide on the tube.
