Although the song is about Dwight Frye, the original name is 'The Ballad of Dwight Fry' without (e) and is in the 1971 'Love It To Death' album by Alice Cooper band. Dwight Frye was an American actor that played Renfield in 1931 Dracula, also appeared in Frankenstein films and other horror movies in the '30s and '40s. Nice cover by the Melvins, such a good band with good taste
you said it as if it was fact and we are all wrong for liking it. does "no offense to any fans of this group, but this doesn't sound good at all" sound like opinion? its sound more like you saying "hey guys sorry, but your taste sucks!"
@Christianrockrockz No one here gives a shit about your stupid opinion. FFS your username is "Chrisrockrockz" what the hell are you even doing on a Melvins video in the first place? OF COURSE you're not going to like it when you enjoy truly terrible shit like creed or whatever the fuck you listen to. Go talk to your imaginary friend, god wad.
The crystalline, Zeppelinesque fury of the Melvins covering Coop has massacred the lethargy of contemporary classic rock leaving it rudderless. 5 fuckin stars!
this cover could have been heavier like some people say, but that was not the intention, for me is like they wanted to put a stupid song/cover (and great at the same time) in the middle of some of the heaviest shit ever recorded to make it looks like something with no sense at all.
@yovioleatuzorramadre to me the album has a kind of spaghetti western/ drone doom/ Earth feel to it. and this version of this song kinda has the same feel. Buzzo does know dylan carlson btw
yee! they might have played it a LOT heavier and louder but they didn't! did anyone think why? because they're THE MELVINS! it was done on purpose. But listen to the song when they play it live! It is heavy with heavy guitars!
I never said anything about the tuning.. that was completely irrelevant to what i was saying.. im just saying listen to 1:30... imagine how HEAVY they could have made that part. and its just not...im sorry... MELVINS still rule tho
I was kind of let down by this. I love the real version of this song. Like I think they usually do great covers because they add their own style. But i feel like they didnt do anything to change the song. And whats with the chorus being on clean guitar?? They could have made that part sooooo heavy??? does anyone else agree?
What a good cover!!!
