zDomHKD has fought a lot of martial arts legends...in his daydreams. Hapkido and TKD are cool arts, and fun to study (I spent 8 years studying Chung Do Kwan TKD), but neither is like Muay Thai. I tested for my 2nd dan TKD in front of GM Ed and Brenda Sell, scored a 96%. GM Nam Suk Lee (Chang Moo Kwan) as at my first dan test. I have all respect for Cho, a great example of how powerful TKD can be. How many MT guys bust open heavy bags like Cho?

Only wanna-bes are foolish enough to think skill is dependant on style. Its all about training hard. Come train w/ us or watch and you will see what old school KMAs are all about.

I will put the power of my hapkido/taekwondo kicks up against any muay thai fighter. I fought a MT bb at yellow belt almost 15 years ago and I kicked harder than he did. I have trained heavy bag that entire time. One of my full-power kicks would crush the chest of anybody not wearing a chest protector. Come vist the Lee H. Park Martial Art Institute in Cape Girardeau, Mo., on any Tuesday or Thursday. Otherwise, yer just all talk and no walk : )

Yeah, a real world grading system; you fight and win, and then you get to fight the next tougher guy on your way to the top. You lose, and you get to fight another loser. If you win often you become a CHAMPION. If you lose often enough, you are told to move back to the Thai countryside and farm. Simple, efficient, and practical grading system.

Not all TKD is the same. Rogue: I would love to discuss this with you. In short, TKD can and does kick low, just not in competition. We prefer to kick for 40 years instead of only 4. There are three major problems with TKD kicks: 1) TKD has a limited striking area with no shots to the legs (which can be the best place to hit), 2) it teachers spinning and jumping kicks which rarely land and open the fighter up, and 3) to score in TKD, only a little power is needed, speed is more important, and kicks often sacrifice power.

dont get me wrong, I LOVE TKD, i go to plenty of tournaments. but honestly, ive fought many a TKD fighter and never lost to his kicks.
