When you get a MAC pro card from being a student at a make-up school you get 20%, is there any way you can increase it to 40% after you do become a verified freelancer make-up artists and such?

Hey Nat, I was wondering if you could answer a question for me? I was denied, did everything you said...I included my business card and a copy of my contract that I have with brides. MAC said the contract was not allowed as a form of proof.

So now my question for you, who did you have write the letter on a company letter head? Was it a bride or a company you worked with? I am a free lancer just starting out, I have done bridal, proms and special event makeup.

I had a professional company write me a letter. Go back and check on their required proofs - it might have changed. I am sorry you got denied. Don't give up hope. I have to ask though - did they charge you the fee still even though they denied you?

No they did not charge me the $35, they sent back everything I sent them, including a letter of the reason I got denied- they said a contract with a client did not count. On the bottom they said I could call them to find out what proof I could include and that I could re-submit it. There is hope!!

the expire every year - you have to just renew each year. You can turn in your paperwork there but all they are going to do is forward it to the address on the application

I have done make on people maybe a few times. Never thought about doing freelance ,but maybe it would be good as a side job. they dont accept letters anymore, UNLESS they are on company letterhead. But they will take and and look at it, but not count it towards your proof. i know its silly, but there are to many people scamming to get the card.. This is just what I have heard.. so .. :) anywho good luck!!

I can tell you that people have sent in letters from clients and it has worked. I can also say that people have sent in letters from clients and it hasn't worked. I think they want it to come from some kind of company - for instance if you were doing makeup for dancers - get the studio where the girls dance to write the letter, not a parent.

ask the teacher in charge of the photo shoot to write you a recommendation on school letterhead - they can get it from the main office - once they do that you are golden!

same for the baseball team - get her to write it on letterhead of the baseball team - she could ask her coach about it

either way the letterhead is what makes or breaks the deal it seems

I'm a photographer with an online portfolio. I've done portrait photography for clients many times. On these shoots I have often done their makeup at their request. How would I go about getting proof in this case? I do have cards but it seems that you're saying I would also need a letter. The portraits were for private collections and the only corporate photography I've done were for products, lol. So yeah, no makeup involved there.

2. when i announced in an earlier vid that i got the pro card i was bombarded with hate comments telling me i lied to get it and i suck at makeup and i don't deserve it blah blah blah

i recently applied for the mac pro card since i do a lot of freelancing; i'm confident i'll get it since i have enough material to back it up, for sure. i've been looking at applying for a few other ones but some are intimidating since they require editorial credits or other big time things. when i'm doing weddings and proms and small-time freelance stuff i don't get credentials like that.
