wow! This is fantastic! I am trying to learn this at the moment but I have uploaded my videos on his Etude Op 104b no 1. Please feel free to listen and comment!
@zeusjeke I know now! Have had a listen to all his historic recordings of his own and other composers works, indeed a treasure I have been happy to find. Will remove the comment now. T.
But part of Mendelssohn's music is jazzy!! Listen to the ouverture & scherzo of the Midsummer Night's Dream, listen to the Rondo Capricioso... This guy was, along with Bach, Mozart and Beethoven, one of the greatests composers ever.
At the time, people were speaking French; and that's so good for us to know that everything did not change so much since a century !

@etudepatetico I had this piece on a cd like 15 years ago, and this recording sounds exactly the same, and 15 years ago youtube did not exist QED :)

Everybody can be wrong but only strong and generous people can recognize their own mistakes. Accept my respect!

Extraordinary playing of such color, velocity and detail - aural foam! Delightful. Thank you.

Fantastic playing & expression of lightness & grace at speed. Unimaginable that such enormous hands could spin such an elfin delicacy.
