what gr8 kids but I think the biggest kid in the video is the dad himself what a great guy! its gr8 u r bringing your kids in a bilingual world ad not putting any pressure on them to speak ether Japanese or English, I have known parent to push their kids without a choice to speak ether their homelands language or ether parents otr countrys language with great pressure. I think if a parent puts pressure on a kid they would rebel ad it get u or kids no where but its nice to see freedom of choice.
Oxygen at the 7-11? Wow now that's amazing. Was it in a vending machine too? ;) I don't think they could get away with selling that here with kids getting high off of everything heh heh. They'd find someway to get high off that. Sad really. That's what you need when you go hiking or something. ;)
Really love your videos, planning to go to live in 日本 soon, but how much Japanese should I know before I go there?, and saw that you have a wii, do they have short supplies there like in America?
Learn as much as you can before you come, because Japan is definitely a monolingual country, especially anywhere outside Tokyo. Not sure if Wiis are still in short supply or not, after we got ours I stopped paying attention.
I guess breathing too much oxygen would be the same as hyperventilating. There's probably not enough oxygen in those stupid little cans to cop a buzz.
richpav, you shouldn't be supporting 7eleven as you wife works at a company that competes against them (If I remember correctly). (not that you are really 'supporting them' ) Do you think the stuff has more of a placebo effect?
If it has any effect, it's minimal. I think the marketing geniuses at 7-11 were thinking that canned oxygen was going to be the new bottled water, but consumers thought it was total B.S.
Yamazaki Daily Stores can't compete against 7-11. They're, pardon the expression, disgusting shitholes.
We also hug each other every day, I just don't make videos about it. They're both finally starting to enjoy making videos and podcasts, after about a year and a half of resenting me always recording stuff wherever we go.
I just wish I had started making videos of everything sooner. There are often times I wish I could visit with the two year old version of Tony, even though I quite like and get along well with the current version. But I realize there will come a day when I'm no longer his big ol' playmate and hugging/cuddling partner. *sigh*
I use a Sony HDR-HC1 I bought used for $600. It was one of the last models they put out that uses DV tapes instead of an internal hard drive. The lens is a cheapo approx. $70 Raynox DVR-5000 super wide angle. The optics are horrible but you can't see the chromatic aberration around the edges unless you're watching the original uncompressed video.
yeah, i just read up on some Raynox reviews, people don't see too happy about their lenses. i want a wide angle where, it's not too fishy to notice, and still looks nice. i've got a fisheye from when i used to skate, it's cool but everything.. looks too way crazy when im recording.
I wish I could afford a better lens, but nice ones can get really, REALLY expensive, and I don't think a mid-range lens is worth the investment. But for web video, a crappy lens is good enough. I've thought about getting a fisheye, but I probably wouldn't (and couldn't) use it much. Unless you're taking skating videos, watching fisheye shots gets annoying quickly.
I don't think that canned oxygen was as big of a seller as they expected it to be when it started appearing in 7-11's a year or two ago. These days there are only a few cans available in some stores, and they're not given prime shelf space. I hope you don't have the impression that you'll see people all over Japan taking wiffs of oxygen out of cans.
Supposedly, inhaling a blast of oxygen is supposed to refresh you when you're tired.
I don't understand how people could think that this could really help them. I know from CPR training that most of the oxygen that we breath in we don't actually use, we just breath it out (which is why mouth to mouth is pretty effective).
I do know that for rare cases the oxygen because it is pure oxygen it helps (as it has less of the bad stuff in it, and it forces air into lungs and has a better chance of more oxygen getting to the brain(which my be the marketing factor)) and babies that are born early have it for the same reasons,
but doesn't it just help them breathe, 'tiredness' from a physical activity is mostly solved by : sugar(hopefully the good kind of sugar, 'long term' effect in your body(compared to your sweets and lollies(guilty of buying) which have a short term effect)) and rest.
haha

Aren't you supposed to hold it in for a couple of seconds?
Mokurentate 4 years ago
I think that would be the same as holding your breath. It's a can of air, not a reefer.
richpav 4 years ago
I heard oxygen (in a tank) can make you dizzy. Do you know if this is true or not?
Mokurentate 4 years ago
I guess breathing too much oxygen would be the same as hyperventilating. There's probably not enough oxygen in those stupid little cans to cop a buzz.
richpav 4 years ago
Also, canned reefer sounds like a great reason (and idea) to legalize it, don't you think? Think of the sales!

I'd rather see Nabisco brand pot brownies.

Does Nabisco even make regular brownies? 0_o
