There's a possibility the toad survived, amphibians can survive quite a long time without oxygen and that snake does not seem to be poisionous cause if it were it'd bite the prey then chase after it and eat it once it was dead. People make fun of toads of being fat interesting enough the fattest toad is the most fit to survive.

@yumakutsuu The toad was too big for the snake to swallow. The snakes jaw can open up really wide, but there are times when it cannot open up wide enough to eat it's prey. I wonder if the toads reaction was to swell up, though, or if it was really just that fat? I also wonder if the toad died.

The snake was either distracted by a person or other animal, or got tired of the bad taste of toad. Also, toads will puff up and make themselves hard to swallow. This one was doing a good job of that.
