@turbo311 I'm not sure what my problem was when I watched your reviews originally. If I could make one comment, I do prefer the duller, less smooth G10 of the RAT...
Anyway, nice reviews and nice BRK. I came across this video while looking for reviews of the Canadian Special - I just got one a couple weeks ago as well. Amazing knife. So sorry for the douchey comment...
Rats handles are micarta. I think that the g10 scales are fiberglass based (easy to shine buff etc) where as the micarta is epoxy (can be buffed espesially with the paper of linen, but the canvas versions tend to have a rougher texture)
There's no such thing as bright orange micarta, these are G-10. Check the RAT site if you don't believe me. But there are different ways of finishing G-10. This one feels more like hard rubber than the typical shiny plastic feel. It's definitely not the feel of micarta.
Nothing Criminal about the knives I assure you. Just we all have different tastes. BRK has a knife for everyone. Many of their handles dont suit me without modding (thats just me) Many of the knives may have what many call blemishes from hand grinding and hand finishing.. Many people dont want that at the price range. Most of my BRK knives have been more than acceptable to me. I would not discourage anyone from owning one. Just be sure you know what you are getting. most are happy.
You all know I have a number of BRK knives which I love. The Gameskeeper2, Montana Guide, among others. People should just remember they are good quality, but hand finished, and hand ground. The grinds wont always be perfect. the handles may not always be perfectly rounded or bevelled. Some just miss the boat. All easy to correct, or send it back.
I have a Bark River Canadian Special but I'm not using it. A friend pointed out issues with Bark River knives that has made me lose interest in them. I've found Doziers to be much higher quality and I'm currently using a KS-7 Wilderness.
A Well Seasoned Prat if ever I saw one. Do you realize you are requesting Anal pleasure with someone you dont know in the first sentence. then telling us what you are in the second sentence, like it wasn't obvious.
i have a rc-3,4 and izula and im a RAT fan for life but ive always wanted a BRKT and the canadian special has always caught my eye..i just didnt know what color handle to get. Well....after seeing urs i went with the blaze orange..and frankly, i cant wait for it. good vid bro!
Is that not what I'm doing in this video? For fit and finish I would rate Busse #1, BRK #2, RAT #3. Bark River makes some of the nicest fixed blades around.
i would like to see videos of wood processing for fire, with that RC-3. Or even with the Bark River. I think that only the Ash-1 would do it well. So come on! please post a video.
The Rc-3 is just as tough as the Rc4 but it's a better slicer being thinner. Rc-4 feels more solid though. It's difficult to pick between them honestly, but I lean towards Rc-3.
My first Bark River was a Canadian Camp. I had it for less than two weeks (more for the sake of owning my first Bark River than anything, really) and I already miss it. I completely agree with the comfort of the grip on their Canadian series.
I currently have and use the Pro Scalpel II. It has far and away become my favorite fixed blade, though I am eager to check out the Mikro Canadian and Fox River.
Would you need to baton 2" wide sticks?

I completely agree with you. Big knifes are useless unless you are in a Micheal Jackson video( see "beat it" ).

Collectively and respectable I do not value your opinion on the RAT's

@fattmatt66 what exactly don't you agree with? I did this video ages ago don't remember what I said.

Ask Kyley (knivesnstuff) he's the informer and I'd rather not misquote him.

INFI is far superior to 1095 not sure what person told you they are about the same.
STRIKER520 2 years ago
@STRIKER520 I misspoke. I guess I was trying to say it INFI is more like 1095 than a stainless steel.

Can you give a rating of Bark River Knives quality! Maybe comparing to Rat and Busse!
Best vids!

Good Vid. Thanks for sharing.
Handy-dandy tip: to waterproof leather sheaths, dunk them in molten wax, then buff .

Hey, long time no chatting.. I'll have to PM you regarding my BUSSES :D I just got the SAR8

Hey yeah we should find a means of better communication than Youtube anyway. Did you do a video yet?

good review, didnt know that canadian was so thick :o
if u dont like the busse, just send it to me, i'll pay fer the postage :p
nephildevil 2 years ago
It's thick but the grind allows it to cut thin. I sold the Busse a long time ago.

Why dont you like the rc-4? I am wondering if i should get an rc-4 or an rc-3. I am just worried the rc-3 wont hold up as well or will be too short.

very good review, but one thing is just plain nonsense: 1095 steel does not even remotely resemble INFI.
1095 is the simplest alloy there is, (iron and carbon) whereas INFI is a complex alloy.
