The legion is difficult to get into these days. They'll overlook "minor crimes" but not murder or drug dealing. You even have to take an iq test.

Look on facebook. There is a group started by somebody who joined this September who is giving an account of what he's done so far. The group is called "Applying to the french foreign legion" . I remember it being said somewhere on there rougly the score you need. On a scale of 1-10 I would say above average. Nothing unreasonable though. They just want to know that you have potential to be competent and able to do your role properly if you get in.

@yousuckatlyfe It is one of if not the best van damme movie. If you ever get to see the movie it gives you a basic overview of the old legion(the modern legion is more like a special forces unit).

@youtoob4life Lol actually those in the legion at this weren't french(for the most part) they are fugitives looking for a second change. The FFL were expendable foreigners used by france so they would have to send french soldiers. They'd just send these poor bastards into the meat grinder.

van-damme's best films. As for you joining the legion i don't think thats a good idead as the modern legion isn't like the one in the movie.

1. Criminals are no longer allowed to join the legion. So the legion no longer gives a man a second chance at life.

2. The legion is now a french unit and no longer a band of mercs with no loyalty to the french government.

3. The legion is basic just a special forces unit no diffent from say the navy S.E.A.L.S.

they are not special forces unit, the only unit in the french foreign legion is 2 rep, paratroopers, ffl and french army get same training but they are a lil tougher on the ffl

Anyone can join the legion, even if you are have outstanding criminal charges. New recruits are given a new identity.

I know that is true of the legion during the time that the movie takes place, but i think the modern legion has dropped that practice or at least thats what i heard from a documentary.

they don't take murderers anymore. all new recruits are checked by interpol. if they are wanted for a crime that isn't considered too serious, they are accepted.

I have not seen this movie in such a long time. the legionnaires are like the best soldier in that time. i think they were and still are famous for putting up final stands and fighting to the death. Like the Spartan law for war.
