I would never go for forceps/vaccum for my own baby after ARM/AROM making my baby sick, that put my newborn baby through enough stress alone in the 1st 7 days of her life with so many tests/iv insertions including stuffed up iv attempts & an overuse of antibiotics. Newborns have soft spots, Ive seen cases where babies bleed into there brains after forceps/suction cap, and that case was were twins, both died from suction delivery in my state/country.
I heard the word AROM/ARM with my 3rd. Thinking no way, but they never went through with it. She was my biggest baby at 7 pounds 13 ounces, Ive always been thin, she arrived a healthy baby at 9/9, her big sister-1st baby was born at 7 pounds 1 0z by ARM/AROM, she started to get sick less then an hour after birth from TTN-1st diagnosis was suspected sepsis, they changed the diagnosis to TTN later on. I never had AROM/ARM with my 2nd, he was born healthy 8/9 with cord wrapped around neck twice.
Wow women get exploited by the medical system, I'm horrified about some of the things doctors put us through with that same bulls*** excuse 'you've got no choice' or 'your baby might die' there are ways of getting through birth without these horrid things and doctors should know more about those ways rather than reach for their 'tools'
I would never allow a forceps birth on my baby, but thats just me, I would go for c-section first. I want a home birth, not be made to speed up labor, but then Ive already had 3 rapid births all lasting less then 2 hours. My Mom was in labor for 22 hours, delivered me without use fo forceps and without a c-section. Doctors will force along births, because they have other births, business or interests to attend to or simply because waiting on a birth to happen gets draining.
@mylovesofmylife oh dear, i really don't think that's always the case you know. some people can have very long labours, but sometimes delivery needs to happen quickly, because the baby gets distressed. babies can die or get asphyxiated if the umbilical cord gets in a position where it is constantly compressed and may clot off, or say if the baby is growth restricted it may not tolerate labour as well. instrumental deliveries are sometimes indicated to prevent a bad outcome.
I was delivered with a suction thingy. They wanted to do a C-section with my mom for me because I wasn't looking like I was going to be in the right position for birth, but my mom said no. I ended up coming out completely wrong. Feet first and upside down. The doctor had to turn me over and suck me out haha. I didn't wanna leave!
when i had my baby girl they used the vacum device on me too. her head was pointy ,at first i was scared bc it was my first time seen a baby wit a pointy (long) head. but after 2 to 3 days its was goin to normal size.. shes goin to be 2 and her head its round and normal.. i think that device made her smart lol..

do not belıeve thıs vıdeo. do not let your doc use a vacuum or forceps. ıf natural delıvery ıs not workıng than a c sectıon ıs the optıon. my baby was delıvered through vacuum and he had fractured hıs clavıcle. and ı developed urınary ıncontınence. ı stıll have ıt. he ıs okay. the fractured got better. but.. ı only pushed for 50 mınutes before the doc decıded to use vac. on me. ı hate hospıtal bırth.
@gunesgun That's not true. A broken clavicle is much better than what can happen during a C-Section. There are a lot more potential dangers that could happen to you and your baby with a Cesarean. A vacuum or forceps can have much slighter troubles. It's generally tried first, and for that I am grateful.
@aleigha0707 well ıf that ıs the case, I have not me one person who had complıcatıons such as mıne wıth theır body and theır chıldren vıa c-sectıon. actually, c-sectıon ıs safer for the baby, ıt reduces the rısk of soemthıng happenıng to the baby when ıt ıs done ın good hands. even gynecologısts themselves choose c-sectıon on themselves . so havıng a urınary ıncontınence ıs better than gettıng c-sectıons? really ı have heard more horror storıes wıth vagınal than c-sec.. ınterestıng.
@gunesgun You just said C-section is safer for the baby. I would do some research before you state nonsense like that for people to naively believe!
Also when you say that urinary incontinence is caused by vaginal birth, that again is a statement not backed my research, so do research before you lie to people.
And anyone reading this, do research for yourself, it is your body, your baby, and the more you educate yourself the better you will feel about your decisions.
ı thınk you should do some research (from different sources). ıt ıs not nonsense at all. ı dıd way too much research. yes urınary ıncontınence ıs maınly caused by bad bırth experıence. whats worse ıs fecal ıncontınece especıally wıth a bad tear lıke 3rd or 4th. no woman deserves that. people ın amerıca want to be a hero and delıver a 10 pound. that is unsafe for both the mother and the baby (especıally ıf ıt ıs your fırst) even gynecologıst themselves have c-sectıons on themsleves.
@gunesgun There's no such thing as too much research, and if you keep researching, and from sources that arent ACOG's website, you'll realize your mistake.
@TheSdecker2 ı have fırst hand experıence -there is no mıstake ! research is written by who? who is ıt coverıng? health ınsurances probably!!! do you have kıds? have you gıven bırth? so no matter what a woman should do vagınal bırth ın your opınıon? vagınal bırth has ıt's rısks as well!!
@TheSdecker2 by the way- you are a very dısrespectful person. ı am not lyıng . ı just dont want people to suffer ın some sıtuatıons c sectıons ıs a better choıce.
@gunesgun Honestly, I could really copy and paste my sources, I have hundreds, I have been researching this for a long time! and I have found that in most instances, simple exercises and doing your kegels can stop a lot of the problems from developing. Women that have never given birth vaginally have urinary incontinence. Why is it caused in them?? Women can do the research and realize they are in control. There are instances where a woman is seriously going to have some tragic and scary
Respond to this video... experience, but for the most part (over 90%) will be able to have a save labor and delivery. Dangerous situations are real, but many are cause by the very instruments and interventions used by the medical community. It is SO important for women to research every single thing. Every drug, every instrument, every test and read up on the benefits of nutrition and exercise. That way, when a doctor tells you something, you can have a base to go on and questions
@TheSdecker2 so why dıd you go agaınst my orıgınal comment and you were tellıng me ı was lyıng? you are contractıng yourself! ınterventıons can be very dangereous, so ınstead of vacuum or forceps , c-sectıon can be safer that was my orıgınal comment. ı was not sayıng go choose c-sectıon for no reason. lıke some people do.
@gunesgun to ask. When you say that there is a high instance of incontinence, that scares women who don't understand how few can really be linked to vaginal birth and the majority that are linked to vaginal birth are because of episiotomy or tearing. Women are more likely to tear when they have an epidural, or if they are not aware that you do not push with all your might, but to the point of comfort. They with in epidural can't feel the "Ring of Fire" which is the bodies natural
@TheSdecker2 exactly.. tearıng ıs the word. most woman tear durıng vagınal delıverıes. ın my orıgınal comment, that's what ı was sayıng. do not belıeve thıs vıdeo because the use of vacuum ıs very unsafe! ıt makes you tear very bad. ı never saıd do not ever have vagınal bırths.. when a vagınal bırth ıs done rıgth wıth no ınterventıon totally natural and ıf the baby ısnt very bıg-you wıll most lıkely have a posıtıve experıence.
@gunesgun The ring of fire is the bodies mechanism to tell woman to stop pushing because their perineum needs to stretch more and needs time to do so. That is why doctors say "Push Push Push, then, okay, stop pushing, now just ease your baby out." Because they know about this and they have to tell women, because the women either doesnt know what it means, or can't feel what her body is telling her. When you really delve into the mechanics of pregnancy, labor a delivery, it is a
@gunesgun It is a beautiful world to realize how prepared we really are do have children. Women just don't teach each other all the the little things anymore to help each other prepare. They spend more time swapping scary stories and making women afraid. It is not scary, and the pain (and some women don't even describe it as pain) it forgotten when that beautiful baby is in your arms. This is such an important journey for women, and telling them something scary without explaining how infrequent
@TheSdecker2 yeah correct pain is nothing when u had your baby n your arms...but much beter to hav a normal deliviries..i have 7months baby now..yes its painful but it doesn't mater the important i give birth my son safely..........weeeeeehhh....im so lucky to have my baby...thanks GOD...
@TheSdecker2 do you have any chıldren by bırth? have you gıven bırth? have you gıven bırth to a 9 pound or more? have you had 3rd and 4th degree tears and ıts effectıng your lıfe everyday? answer please.
@gunesgun Why would I answer that. Whether I have or I haven't, I personally find it annoying when every woman thinks they're experts because they've had children. My mother admits she knew almost nothing until her fifth child because she never did the research and doctors never explained much to her. It is always disheartening to hear when another woman had a traumatic experience, but that doesn't justify making women afraid like it will happen to them all. So no. I didn't answer for a reason.
@TheSdecker2 why would you not answer that?? I don't thınk you have gıven bırth. you can do all the research you want. readıng a source and lıvıng and experıencıng are totally dıfferent thıngs. You can read about poverty, read all the research (wonder who ıs ıt wrıtten from and what perspectıve...) but untıl you lıve and experıence ıt ,then you wıll KNOW what it is lıke. I am not here to scare any woman. I am not sayıng go get a c-sectıon for nothıng.
@TheSdecker2 In my orıgınal comment, I was commentıng on how unsafe the vacum use ıs. Instead of th gettıng thırd or 4th degree tears and be urınary and fecal ıncontınence, havıng c-sectıon ıs better. I stıll thınk thıs way. I have frıends who are gynecologıst themselves, choose to get c-sectıon on themselves. you thınk you know more research then, they do? actually you are scarıng woman more than I am -you are scarıng them from gettıng c-sectıons.
@aleigha0707 I do not agree with you. When c-section ıs done rıght, it is much safer for the baby than a vacuum use and also for the mother. some women tear 4th degree that's through the rectum. you can be ıncontinent for lıfe! do some fecal and urınary ıncontınence reseaerch-ıt doesnt happen by ıt self. ıt happens wıth bad delıvery. to suffer from this ıs horrıble!!
@gunesgun C-sections are surgery. Surgery can be harmful during the least troubling procedure. I work for a surgeon (vascular) and we have an access center on site. We've had two people die before my eyes during routine angioplasty. If the person isn't healthy, if they can't tolerate general anesthesia or any number of other reasons - it can have horrible consequences. I'm telling you, it's best to go the least invasive way first. I get that a C-section can be very effective, but not safest.
They forgot to mention pointy-head. I had a vacuum-like assisted delivery when I was born, and I had a pointy head for a few days. I was fine overall, but my dad made fun of me for a while ):<
the video doesn't mention that when either of the methods are used to delivery a baby-the woman has to have an episiotomy. having an assisted delivery is so not an easy way out the way the video makes it seem. there are things your carers should try with you before resorting to these like changing position. I dont think a good reason to use them is if a woman is exhausted-after all she has gone that far but I understand if the baby is compromised than either of those options would be nessacary
@44musicluvr (I wanted to mention that you'd asked if a medical professional could tell you why; I admit I'm not a medical professional, but I've done a lot of research regarding natural childbirth. It's amazing how much information is out there! The search is very informative, I would recommend it to anyone!)
@44musicluvr Also, except for on-your-back increasing the risk of needing potentially harmful interventions, no position is really any more or less safe than another - and many women feel that standing/squatting alleviates the pain a bit, as it allows for better circulation and movement (two of many natural pain relievers for labor and delivery). I've seen women have great success with both squatting and being on all fours, and both are perfectly safe for mom and baby.
@44musicluvr Really, most births you see in hospitals involve mothers who have opted for an epidural, in which case it wouldn't be possible for mom to utilize any position that required the use of her legs for pushing. The ironic thing is, flat on your back is probably the most unnatural position in which to give birth, and is sometimes the *cause* of needing vacuum-/forceps-assisted births, as it tilts the pelvis back and forces you to push against gravity!
@44musicluvr It's safer that way (the baby is less likely to fall to the ground) and it gives the doctor easier access. Also, many mothers-to-be may be in too much pain to stand/squat. I get what you mean though, it does seem natural to do it that way. I've seen it done "Discovery Health" once. The woman was giving birth with the aide of a Midwife and she was allowed to do just that, squat down and push. Looked a little tedious, but it seemed to work okay. Midwifery is generally more accepting.
I am 23 years old and I was delivered with the assistance of a forceps. I did not have any injuries at all, but I feel on my forehead that it has kind of a dent LOL It's not a big deal but I can feel it.
I'm a nursing student and I have to talk about the dummy for a minute. My school has one and we've had different simulations using it. Not only does the mannequin actually give birth but the remote laptop connected to her actually has her talking, describing her pain, gives her vital signs...its really pretty creepy/incredible.
As far as people commenting on her hair...shes in labor people! I don't think she really needs to be worried about how her hair looks (Although i think its lovely).
@Deliphius-the dummy gives birth? amazing advances in technology these days. I am sure the dummy will make an amazing mother, as her laptop will help her bond well with her baby. I do hope, however that the birth attendants trained to attend human mothers giving birth to human babies learn that it is the mother doing the birthing and not confuse her with a lifeless bit of plastic that needs another bit of plastic pulled and manipulated by experts as she (the non-expert)passively spreads her legs

I had a forceps assisted delivery after a 20 hr natural labour and 2.5hrs pushing. It was horrible, and I'm still mad as hell that I was pressured into it. I agree with whoever said that once a baby is low enough for these instruments, they are close to being born. Unless there is a DRASTIC emergancy (loss of heart tones) there is no need for these barbaric tools. If I'd been given another 20mins my 9+pounder would have been delivered naturally :(
lol, her hair is funny... looks like Jill Scott... if mom wasn't lying on her back, i'm sure a vacuum or forceps wouldn't need to be used, mom is going against gravity up the vaginal canal... no thank you, i'll squat!
my first baby is normal delivery...but it took us 22 hrs and sooo painful and exhausting!my 2nd came faster only 30 minutes..but she is too big my doctor used forceps..she have marks but she is ok now.my 3rd is cs..because of some problems.but they are all normal and healthy.
@614lazy Speaking as a L&D nurse of 30 years, if the option is have an assisted birth or let your baby die, I'd hope you'd go for the assisted birth. It's not something that doctors just do for no reason.
@MamiDeBrooklyn A lot of women have bowel movements during delivery, it's not such a big deal because when it gets to that point you just don't care anymore. It's all about getting your baby out safely.
We have friends who's little girl was delivered with forceps, and that baby was left with several cuts, and bruises. Her head suffered severe trauma, trauma that left her with life long disability. No way would I ever consent to using instruments. Thank God I was able to deliver our 3 boys natural, but if I hadnt been able, I would have had a C-Section before allowing any of these be used on my baby.
I was delivered with forceps. My mum said I caused some really serious problems and that I nealy died. We were both taken to intensive care or something, and she always calls me 'danger baby' xD
For all those who judge - have u been in a long hard labour?
Yes a perfect labour would be ideal-but not every1 has that luck. My 1st pregnancy was perfect. Fit &healthy-wanted natural labour. But I had a horrible one. 2days in2 it I thought I was going to die with my baby stuck.
It's all well &good 2 say they WILL come out&natural is best... but 4me, I was pushn for over 3hours,was exhausted & in the end I had no option but 2 use the vaccum. (I did NOT want forceps). My son came out fine.
@kate51035 Natural is always best but sometimes complications arise and the doctor has to intervene. People think they know better than an OB after reading something off the internet or talking with other mommies at mommy groups. OB's spend years training and delivering babies. No doctor is ever perfect but they just want the baby to deliver safely.
@misslori66 The first rule of the medical profession is "First do no harm" and that includes harm that 'çould' help. There are other options that should be considered but OB will jump striaght to medical intervention. A lot of OBs don't see the repercussion of their actions. So the baby was delivered alive, but now is scared both physically, emotionaly and spiritually. So is mom.And if this happens it can affect health later on like PND.OB's should keep learning not just think they know it all.
Neck trauma or internal decapitation are real concerns...
and if the baby is already low enough for these instruments to be used, they are at the "point of no return" - they WILL come out. If they "won't" come out, it COULD be because a shoulder is stuck. In which case pulling on the baby's head can cause spinal cord injury, or severance.
an instrument was used to rupture my membranes with my 1st-AROM within an hour she was admitted to NNU as pale, low temp and rib retractions and put on iv antibiotics for 7 days due to a high white cell count at birth, the nurse was ticked at me for visiting my baby in NNU on her day of birth and even more ticked when I asked the nurse if it was ok for a cuddle
thank you I am going to be a mom and i am really nervous to give birth and i dont want to drop outa school and I probably will not drop out by school school starts my baby should be like 2 months old and i could just leaveher with my mom who dont work. im 21 weeks along and really nervous, how far are you or your wife
my girlfriend had a vacum delivery today. it was fine. the doctor said he could only do it a certain amount of times, for it to be safe. otherwise it would of been a c section. its proberly like anything, if it's done properly, it'll be ok.
They used the vac of me... way too soon. I never thought that there was such a thing as too soon. My son had a bleed on the brain because of using the vac too soon and gettiing him stuck and then being not able to delievery him normal. it also made me hemorage and then i had to have a hystorectomy im only 21 i had this done at 20!!!!!! listen to your body....
i had forceps after 72 hours of labour , i was so tired but i'm so greatful they helped me and my baby was so beautifullll!!! i will never forget that,it's very painful!

@aleigha0707 well ıf that ıs the case, I have not me one person who had complıcatıons such as mıne wıth theır body and theır chıldren vıa c-sectıon. actually, c-sectıon ıs safer for the baby, ıt reduces the rısk of soemthıng happenıng to the baby when ıt ıs done ın good hands. even gynecologısts themselves choose c-sectıon on themselves . so havıng a urınary ıncontınence ıs better than gettıng c-sectıons? really ı have heard more horror storıes wıth vagınal than c-sec.. ınterestıng.
gunesgun 1 year ago
@gunesgun You just said C-section is safer for the baby. I would do some research before you state nonsense like that for people to naively believe!
Also when you say that urinary incontinence is caused by vaginal birth, that again is a statement not backed my research, so do research before you lie to people.
And anyone reading this, do research for yourself, it is your body, your baby, and the more you educate yourself the better you will feel about your decisions.
TheSdecker2 7 months ago
ı thınk you should do some research (from different sources). ıt ıs not nonsense at all. ı dıd way too much research. yes urınary ıncontınence ıs maınly caused by bad bırth experıence. whats worse ıs fecal ıncontınece especıally wıth a bad tear lıke 3rd or 4th. no woman deserves that. people ın amerıca want to be a hero and delıver a 10 pound. that is unsafe for both the mother and the baby (especıally ıf ıt ıs your fırst) even gynecologıst themselves have c-sectıons on themsleves.
gunesgun 7 months ago
@gunesgun There's no such thing as too much research, and if you keep researching, and from sources that arent ACOG's website, you'll realize your mistake.
TheSdecker2 7 months ago
@TheSdecker2 ı have fırst hand experıence -there is no mıstake ! research is written by who? who is ıt coverıng? health ınsurances probably!!! do you have kıds? have you gıven bırth? so no matter what a woman should do vagınal bırth ın your opınıon? vagınal bırth has ıt's rısks as well!!
gunesgun 7 months ago
@TheSdecker2 by the way- you are a very dısrespectful person. ı am not lyıng . ı just dont want people to suffer ın some sıtuatıons c sectıons ıs a better choıce.
gunesgun 7 months ago

TheSdecker2 7 months ago
@TheSdecker2 so why dıd you go agaınst my orıgınal comment and you were tellıng me ı was lyıng? you are contractıng yourself! ınterventıons can be very dangereous, so ınstead of vacuum or forceps , c-sectıon can be safer that was my orıgınal comment. ı was not sayıng go choose c-sectıon for no reason. lıke some people do.
gunesgun 7 months ago
@gunesgun to ask. When you say that there is a high instance of incontinence, that scares women who don't understand how few can really be linked to vaginal birth and the majority that are linked to vaginal birth are because of episiotomy or tearing. Women are more likely to tear when they have an epidural, or if they are not aware that you do not push with all your might, but to the point of comfort. They with in epidural can't feel the "Ring of Fire" which is the bodies natural
TheSdecker2 7 months ago
@TheSdecker2 exactly.. tearıng ıs the word. most woman tear durıng vagınal delıverıes. ın my orıgınal comment, that's what ı was sayıng. do not belıeve thıs vıdeo because the use of vacuum ıs very unsafe! ıt makes you tear very bad. ı never saıd do not ever have vagınal bırths.. when a vagınal bırth ıs done rıgth wıth no ınterventıon totally natural and ıf the baby ısnt very bıg-you wıll most lıkely have a posıtıve experıence.
gunesgun 7 months ago

@TheSdecker2 do you have any chıldren by bırth? have you gıven bırth? have you gıven bırth to a 9 pound or more? have you had 3rd and 4th degree tears and ıts effectıng your lıfe everyday? answer please.
gunesgun 7 months ago
@gunesgun Why would I answer that. Whether I have or I haven't, I personally find it annoying when every woman thinks they're experts because they've had children. My mother admits she knew almost nothing until her fifth child because she never did the research and doctors never explained much to her. It is always disheartening to hear when another woman had a traumatic experience, but that doesn't justify making women afraid like it will happen to them all. So no. I didn't answer for a reason.
TheSdecker2 7 months ago
@TheSdecker2 why would you not answer that?? I don't thınk you have gıven bırth. you can do all the research you want. readıng a source and lıvıng and experıencıng are totally dıfferent thıngs. You can read about poverty, read all the research (wonder who ıs ıt wrıtten from and what perspectıve...) but untıl you lıve and experıence ıt ,then you wıll KNOW what it is lıke. I am not here to scare any woman. I am not sayıng go get a c-sectıon for nothıng.
gunesgun 7 months ago
@TheSdecker2 In my orıgınal comment, I was commentıng on how unsafe the vacum use ıs. Instead of th gettıng thırd or 4th degree tears and be urınary and fecal ıncontınence, havıng c-sectıon ıs better. I stıll thınk thıs way. I have frıends who are gynecologıst themselves, choose to get c-sectıon on themselves. you thınk you know more research then, they do? actually you are scarıng woman more than I am -you are scarıng them from gettıng c-sectıons.
gunesgun 7 months ago
@aleigha0707 I do not agree with you. When c-section ıs done rıght, it is much safer for the baby than a vacuum use and also for the mother. some women tear 4th degree that's through the rectum. you can be ıncontinent for lıfe! do some fecal and urınary ıncontınence reseaerch-ıt doesnt happen by ıt self. ıt happens wıth bad delıvery. to suffer from this ıs horrıble!!
gunesgun 7 months ago
@gunesgun C-sections are surgery. Surgery can be harmful during the least troubling procedure. I work for a surgeon (vascular) and we have an access center on site. We've had two people die before my eyes during routine angioplasty. If the person isn't healthy, if they can't tolerate general anesthesia or any number of other reasons - it can have horrible consequences. I'm telling you, it's best to go the least invasive way first. I get that a C-section can be very effective, but not safest.

the video doesn't mention that when either of the methods are used to delivery a baby-the woman has to have an episiotomy. having an assisted delivery is so not an easy way out the way the video makes it seem. there are things your carers should try with you before resorting to these like changing position. I dont think a good reason to use them is if a woman is exhausted-after all she has gone that far but I understand if the baby is compromised than either of those options would be nessacary
going2NY 1 year ago
@44musicluvr (I wanted to mention that you'd asked if a medical professional could tell you why; I admit I'm not a medical professional, but I've done a lot of research regarding natural childbirth. It's amazing how much information is out there! The search is very informative, I would recommend it to anyone!)
firedagger 1 year ago
@44musicluvr Also, except for on-your-back increasing the risk of needing potentially harmful interventions, no position is really any more or less safe than another - and many women feel that standing/squatting alleviates the pain a bit, as it allows for better circulation and movement (two of many natural pain relievers for labor and delivery). I've seen women have great success with both squatting and being on all fours, and both are perfectly safe for mom and baby.
firedagger 1 year ago
@44musicluvr Really, most births you see in hospitals involve mothers who have opted for an epidural, in which case it wouldn't be possible for mom to utilize any position that required the use of her legs for pushing. The ironic thing is, flat on your back is probably the most unnatural position in which to give birth, and is sometimes the *cause* of needing vacuum-/forceps-assisted births, as it tilts the pelvis back and forces you to push against gravity!
firedagger 1 year ago
MIDWIFERY FTW!
NerdyCanadian 1 year ago
@44musicluvr It's safer that way (the baby is less likely to fall to the ground) and it gives the doctor easier access. Also, many mothers-to-be may be in too much pain to stand/squat. I get what you mean though, it does seem natural to do it that way. I've seen it done "Discovery Health" once. The woman was giving birth with the aide of a Midwife and she was allowed to do just that, squat down and push. Looked a little tedious, but it seemed to work okay. Midwifery is generally more accepting.

Deliphius 1 year ago 9

My son came out fine.

natural delivery is the best for the baby
kate51035 1 year ago
@kate51035 Natural is always best but sometimes complications arise and the doctor has to intervene. People think they know better than an OB after reading something off the internet or talking with other mommies at mommy groups. OB's spend years training and delivering babies. No doctor is ever perfect but they just want the baby to deliver safely.
misslori66 1 year ago
@misslori66 The first rule of the medical profession is "First do no harm" and that includes harm that 'çould' help. There are other options that should be considered but OB will jump striaght to medical intervention. A lot of OBs don't see the repercussion of their actions. So the baby was delivered alive, but now is scared both physically, emotionaly and spiritually. So is mom.And if this happens it can affect health later on like PND.OB's should keep learning not just think they know it all.
JayJayHale 1 year ago
Neck trauma or internal decapitation are real concerns...
and if the baby is already low enough for these instruments to be used, they are at the "point of no return" - they WILL come out. If they "won't" come out, it COULD be because a shoulder is stuck. In which case pulling on the baby's head can cause spinal cord injury, or severance.
