  • Although Cassowarys are one of the most dangerous birds in the World. I don't believe for one second that this particleboard bird killed two people before this video was taken. Or even days before...the zoo would be closed and that animal would be held elsewhere away from people and other cassowarys if not 'put down'. Just sayin' LOL

  • skippy rules

  • ya genuis...except the titanis is extinct

  • Yea, there's only been one recorded death by cassowary, which was in 1924 i believe, wiki it. Some kids were trying to kill it, and one got knifed in the throat.

  • Do they bother the roos and wallabies?

  • Lots have been injured.

  • CASSOWARIES... the documentary will air on BBC2 Natural World this thursday 19th Feb at 9pm UK time

  • kangaroos are dangerous too, they'll stand up and box your ass a couple times.

  • raptor claws beat out kickboxing on the dangerous scale by like, a billion. I'd take a punch to the face over a sliced open abdomen any day.

  • mmmm, apparently, dangerous word. This is a wild bird, leave it alone, respect it, it won't bother you.

It is a beautiful creature one that I have been fortunate enough to see in the wild, and it didn't try to kill me. Humans are far more dangerous.

  • I have a feeling he hasn't killed two people. I've only seen one recorded incident of it killing somebody. I think in the 40s. I may be wrong though. They do however have a long history of killing dogs and other domestic animals.

  • yeah i only found one reference of death. no doubt it attacks but i wonder if this bird's reputation is inflated. i can see its possible that it can disembowel someone but has it ever happened? i doubt it. sure its the most dangerous bird, but that is a comparison to all birds. but is it a dangerous animal in general?

  • It's never happened. The one guy that did die was a complete freak accident. I think it's coming from two things. One, the razor sharp claw. Two, the length of the leg and the way it swings. When it kicks, it can reach an average adult's stomach, then it goes down and obviously *could* rip open a stomach, but won't necessarily. And yes, it's a dangerous animal as most wildlife is! The little guy's doing his job, protecting territory, that makes him one-track minded and dangerous to stupid kids.

  • it's way far from the most dangerous bird. I would put that title to Titanis or Argentavis. Those guys could kill anything... you know, except an armed human.

  • Every year in the paper up here in North QLD there are at least a few reported attacks on tourists and backpackers, most requiring hospitalisation.

  • It's like a raptor talon they have on each toe. Mean looking sickle of a toe claw but none the less a beautiful looking bird. Looks and moves so much like a dinosaur, with the exception of several body parts.

  • The have sharp talons that could spill your guts out with one swipe. I watch discovery channel and animal planet.

  • that bird = most dangerous bird in the world

  • its due to the razor sharp talon that they have
