i was thinking of getting this for use when i leave the studio and still can find a way to remotely open my file and mix on the fly anywhere. but if its mono then thats a problem. The price will be fair or a steal if it can do that.
Check out my video Response.. I got COMPLETE control of Pro Tools from my HTC Droid Eris.. a lot more than this app. Complete control of my entire computer actually.. not JUST pro tools.. and it was only 9.99 :P iPhone needs to do some catchin' up lol..
to all the douchebags complaining that the phone's in mono...its just controlling the fader dipshits...it isnt processing any audio. its just a representation of the level. i think its cool. I just wonder if a mic would pick up the wireless signal as buzz....?
Very cool, although I'm not sure if I would really find it useful, since I'm usually just sitting in the chair with my hand on the mouse anyways. Still very cool though. I'm really holding out for someone to make a multi-track recording program for the iphone. Even a light 4 or 8 track version of pro tools would be excellent. So there ya go man... I've given you an idea for your next project:) (better get digidesign in on this one though:)
Whats the point? In case your on the other side of the room, and dont wanna get up to change the levels of something? So called "musicians" and "engineers" these days are so f*king lazy
If your not in the control room and you need to set the levels whilst, say, setting up a drum rig, it'd be very handy.
Even in a home studio, you might be recording yourself and just want to kick the transports but your on the other side of the room because thats where the sweet spot in the room is. Its not "lazy", its rather practical.
Are you not familiar or have you just forgotten that studio work often requires multiple rooms and this could be the answer to doing recording sessions without needing a control person.
whoa... how did u do that? that was awesome... i have a mac and an i phone but i dont know how to activate the remote... can u help me out??? my protools doesn't work without the maudio I/O .. can u help me how to use protools without the m-audio project mix?
can someone please help me how to activate my new apple remote? i lost the old old one . .and when i bought a new one . the apple guy said it will activate by it self. who knows
Total crap... The protools track on the computer is a stereo track, on the I phone it is a mono. ( Look at the meters on the computer, 2 for stero 1 for mono) Sorry bro youve been busted!
The beta is no longer available as the beta program ended May 15th. ProRemote will be available in Apple's AppStore when that launches or soon afterwards. Thanks for your continued interest!
Hi there man - this is very cool! I want to do it as i could start sessions from within the recording room. Do you have any chat software so we can exchange some info?
only real protools user can tell that he copied and pastes his automation settings to match.....its very easy to fool people that don't think on a expert user level
That's amazing! Now I don't need to go back and forth from the control room to my booth to record. I can control it directly inside the booth! I have to buy the i-phone!
oh my god,,, so i can sink it to any software? can i doa dj set whikle drinkin at the bar if its synched to ableton? wow now that s technology workin for u
That's what I'm trying to say. Why make this for only iPhones? The only useful application I can think of is mixing live sound but I think it's cheaper to pay someone to sit at the board with a two way radio than to buy an iPhone and this software.
with the TDM systems and icon i use every day it would be great to sit on the back couch and control fader groups from any where in the studio and control rooms. really cool.
every pro guy i work with here in hollywood who has seen this has said they want this also.
Awesome, it would be REALLY cool (in the future of course) to do something like this with say- a Yamaha M7CL? :-D would make my job way cooler..I could walk around on stage and in the house and mix!
The ability to control Pro Tools from across the room for starters.
I'd love to have something like this (with a larger screen) for Photoshop. That way, I'd be able to work from anywhere at my job or home without being tethered to my computer.
Yeah, but if all it's doing is sending MIDI signals to control ProTools then you could do the same thing with ANY MIDI controller. Or if it's just to adjust levels, you could do the same thing with a cue system.
Right, my imagination is lacking and that's why I don't see the point in spending $750 (iPhone + program) to be able to adjust levels and hit play or stop from the other side of the room.
Get a job then...you friggin jew! I would have spent $2000.00 on my iPhone, if that is what i had to do to get it. Once you have one you will understand...They are AMAZING devices!
Jesus Christmas, dude. Then you're clearly not an engineer/drummer with a live room and a control room. This thing could change my life if only Verizon would embrace the iPhone.
This app has so much fukin potential. I mean, man, this could be really really damn good. I hope he fully realizes and exploits the potential of it. I'm definitely droppin the $150 bones for it.
wtf are you talking about? yes, there is a very good point. If you don't understand how it's useful then it's not for you. But me? I'm drooling in anticipation for this.
ps. I completely disagree with you on your Apple being the leader of stupid ideas comment. That said, this isn't even Apple's idea...
Almost. It runs through WiFi and uses MIDI info to control the faders on pro tools. The idea is that you can control your mix and your transport from the drum kit or piano or whatever without getting up and going over to your computer.
It is currently pre-beta and the guy that wrote it is looking for beta testers. I have added a link to the site I found this on if you are interested in getting more info on the software.

There is a new Pro Tools controller for the iPad which incorporates way more features than any of the others... It's called Pad Tools.
It's a patch for Midi Touch, so you can even copy/paste the sysex info from the faders and buttons and create your own custom controller !
All HUI buttons are available. It was specifically designed for Pro Tools.
Search for it !
