Thanks to liberal policy the world economy is crashing. We must do two things to stop the meltdown NOW!!! Firstly, we need to raise all payroll taxes 10% for one year. We also need to stop (right now) wasteful handout programs like medicare, social security, unemployment,, etc. and lower the minimum wage to $2/hr so we can compete with China. I will work with Cantor, Perry, Ryan and my other republican colleagues and take immediate action on these proposals. God bless the GOP!

Under your plan your wages would come down because you'd be competing with those $2/hr workers.

The recent banking crisis is a perfect example. After the depression regulations were instituted to keep depressions from occurring. For 50 yrs these regs kept the country from experiencing the disruptive economic roller coaster we had been having for the precious 100 yrs.

As time went by and the financial sector pressured,(bought),politicians to deregulate the financial markets little by little,we had a bust as has not been seen since 1929.Banks were too big to fail. This is true. If we let them fail things would be much worse than they are now.The rep.'s have blocked new regulation at every turn so if this happens again, as is likely with no big bank break ups, then we will have to bail them out again or let the entire economy collapse.

Thanks to liberal policy the world economy is crashing. We must do two things to stop the meltdown NOW!!! Firstly, we need to raise all payroll taxes 10% for one year. We also need to stop (right now) wasteful handout programs like medicare, social security, unemployment,, etc. and lower the minimum wage to $2/hr so we can compete with China. I will work with Cantor, Perry, Ryan and my other republican colleagues and take immediate action on these proposals. God bless the GOP!

Minus $116 for housing (1/3 of $347) = 196.30 a month for everything else (because you would do away with "wasteful handout programs") i.e, heat, lights, phone, food, clothes, transportation, childcare, medical insurance, etc. How much do you make an hour? Under your plan your wages would come down because you'd be competing with those $2/hr workers.
Go back to the drawing board.

Truth is they should have renegotiated those contracts in lieu of the bailout as part of the deal with government. This was not done and I was against all bailouts. It sends the wrong message that bad business gets rewarded and we will cover your risk. Risk's a part of business. What part of my comment did you read into that says anything but O'donnell didn't whip Cantor. Nobobdy got whipped.

@canucanoe2861 With the bailouts we have slid down a slippery slope when as far as I am concerned the entire bailout was unconstitutional. Now we have the "indirect consequences" to deal with and it's not pretty. I blame them all Democrats and Republicans. That being said can the congress just pass a law that is unconstitutional because it is what most see as just. Not really in my opinion and once congress feels it can pass anything regardless of the constitution where does this lead?

We have a huge problem in this country and I for one blame an overreaching centralized bureaucracy of various agencies and elected officials that refuse to fix the problem. If government stays out of many things it was not given the job to do we would all be better off. Tarp is unconstitutional from the very start. @zepproxx The problem with the libertarian laissez faire approach to business is that businesses like the banking industry that are unregulated, because of greed, often take advantage at the expense of the nation as a whole. The recent banking crisis is a perfect example. After the depression regulations were instituted to keep depressions from occurring. For 50 yrs these regs kept the country from experiencing the disruptive economic roller coaster we had been having for the precious 100 yrs.

As time went by and the financial sector pressured,(bought),politicians to deregulate the financial markets little by little,we had a bust as has not been seen since 1929.Banks were too big to fail. This is true. If we let them fail things would be much worse than they are now.The rep.'s have blocked new regulation at every turn so if this happens again, as is likely with no big bank break ups, then we will have to bail them out again or let the entire economy collapse.

Look at the message this sends. If you make bad decisions then no problem we will pick you up and your back in business. Business requires risk from the biggest to the smallest and this includes banks. No company should be immune from failure.

The government promised that when you become elderly and retire we will pay your money back in a retirement fund called social security.
