i swear no matter how many times i hear this my heart flies and my eyes water ^^ you can hear passion in every note, hehe, ^^ forever in my heart Fryderyk Chopin, when i was 6 i saw a dedication concert to Chopin and i have been playing piano ever since hehe...
Let the young ones be proud of their choice in music. High School is the worst thing you can inflict on a person in a civilized society. Generation after generation broken down and taught to be just as ignorant and dull and ugly as everybody else.
Let those who refuse to relinquish beauty have their counter-culture. Let them be proud of Chopin.
I can't believe some of you people here. Why can't we listen to the beautiful piece of music without having to hear about your music elitism, and how you it gives you an inflated opinion of yourself?
I got brought here by metal. We all gotta admit that, there are so many similarities between metal and classic music. In fact, they both help me proceed as a musician and compose.
Chopin's Nocturnes always make me shed a tear. They are SO beautiful, romantic, every note is just where it needs to be, carrying charisma and marvelous atmospheres. For me, it's about passion and the obstacles you face when expressing your love about someone or something. Just superb.
Im 15 and from the UK and ive just finished learning this whole piece... thumbs up if you think a 7 year old asian has done this piece blindfolded, no mistakes, whilst beat-boxing, balanced on his nose, whilst someone canes him.
You go man same bs with all this new music but this classical music gives me a image and makes a movie not some dumb bitch talking last damn night or drinking or beating the shit outta someone, stay different and be different. you should be proud to be marked as a individual, not some follower of the present age. Glad you like this music.
I really hate the fact people of my age just don't have the patience to let this beautiful sort of music in... It's just simply wonderful. My friends really miss something you know.
This piece is only challenging at about three points. I learned this piece in my first year of Piano class back in 10th grade. I ended up performing it at a Church in my downtown area and also went to a judging and got Superior :)
All in all, if you love the piano and the music half as much as I did, you will be able to learn this. Don't forget to practice your trills with all fingers!!
I'm not saying that I don't love this music; my iPod is filled with instrumental pieces of all eras. I'm just saying that there is no reason for people to flaunt their age or the fact that they're listening to Chopin seeing as there are plenty of people who listen to "classical" music.
@MarimbaDood people are obviously doing that because maybe you're not AWARE of this, but I'm 19, and everyone that I know makes fun of me for listening to classical music, Hank Williams, basically anything that isn't popular now. Music NOW is about fuckin bitches, gettin money, poppin bottles, their proud to say how old they are for listening to this kind of music because not many people are introduced to it.
In fact, good teachers have the ability to make you feel interested in things that you previously did not understand. With their encouragement you begin to explore new worlds.
And not only in school or college, but throughout our lives we can learn from others. We must be grateful to those who teach us!
And how not to feel emotional listening to this Chopin´s Nocturno? It arouses our deepest feelings, both bitter and sweet.
my 7th grade music teacher opened my eyes and ears to this type of music along with past genres, while the rest of the class joked or fell asleep i was amazed at the simple yet emotional sound. because of her my world grew a bit bigger, some teachers do make a difference!
@ak1ok Same here. I've heard it a while before, but really began to appreciate it when my music instructor Mr. Marovich introduced me to this piece in 8th grade. Let's just say a major change in personality occurred.
I have a similar story from 7th grade but the words of my teacher didn't really sink for another 4 years. Now it's seven years since 8th grade and I have yet to go back and thank him for sharing his passion for this kind of music. I hope you end up reading this Mr. Glenn =]
that is the SAME story for me. 4 years ago, in 7th grade music class. only it was clair de lune - it blew me into another world. ever since ive been a debussy/chopin crazy fanatic. i obsess
@ak1ok It's amazing how music can get into our minds and make so beautiful changes. I use to listen this song at night, close to my pillow or getting some wine.
@hampsterMSR Really? Really you had to bring this one up? Epic? This music is supposed to calm you, make you relax. It's by no means epic as you understand it.
This is so fantastic and beautiful, it is beyond words! I am playing this with my teacher and I feel so intimidated now. I'm just wondering, does he add an extra few 16th notes in measure 26?
Perfeito compositor e regente. Gostaria de quando estivesse deixando este mundo eu fosse embalada por esta música. Minha preferida e compositor também. LINDA MÚSICA.

The only thing that stopped Chopin writing was that he took an arrow to the knee. I know, I'm sorry.

@trurocker03
you make a perfect point: beauty and complexity are two different things.
No need for adding complex noise over this perfect melody: two hands, one piano and a few notes.
I often regret that today's music (most of it) replaces melody with rythm and noise: silence is also important in music.
(I'm not saying complexity is ugly though: I love Rachmaninov even though I have a heart attack everytime I see one of his partitions XD )
