i say ringo's solo on 'the end' is the greatest rock drum solo ever. incredibly simple? yes. but true art cannot be measured in speed. i find 'moby dick' and 'toad' to be incredibly boring. bonham and baker (who i normally like; his work on white room is superb) are basically just whipping it out and comparing sizes on those tracks. just mindless pounding. it's a novelty, really
u have won't get fooled again at 6 or sometihng? i cant even watch this video now lol...wtfa has got to be the only song that left my mouth open because of the drums..especially the isolated track...and end of the song..last 3 minutes..kicks the shit out of anything i've heard...and yes ive heard moby dick...dont say im a fan boy, i actually prefer zeppelin over the who
@Mikespyke The beat is good but its not the beat that makes it a great drum song its the entire drum performance : P. And yes that entire drum performance is better then everything on this list.
this is a good list, but wipeout is really the king of all drumming songs. one, it was one of the first songs with a drum solo, two, its fricken crazy awesome. but other than that, nice list.
I don't know why people are giving AC/DC so much flack. Just because Phil Rudd doesn't do solos does not make him a bad drummer and it certainly doesn't mean that he doesn't do amazing drum tracks. If there is anyone that can get a boogie going it's Phil.
@thetomizzinator dude at the time of making this video i just wasnt a huge fan of Rush, I thought the drumming was amazing, neils a got but I thought their music in general was too weird for me. UNfortunately I was pretty narrow minded about them and didnt research their music enough, cuz they kick ass as a band..
And I'd never heard of La Villa Strangiato, but dude thanks for suggesting a great new song to me. I LOVE flamenco stuff, so thanks man, a great new song for my collection
@rocklover4 lol dude your the coolest, thats a great comment i love that part too. I love the introductions for the 2nd and 1st song....but thats just me!! lol cuz adurr i made it = ]]
Great stuff. Happy you included some often ignored drummers like Charlie Watts and Don Brewer. I saw some top 100 performance lists that didn't have any Stones songs. I stumbled upon this when I was in a message board discussion about great drum performances.
@M32Steven thanks dude. no i dont think any of my videos have been taken down, the "rejected drum video" is a bad version of th FIRST video counting down, as in 60-44
all the other videos should be up i think.........dont scare me steven.....lol
I commented pre-maturely, ummmm first off Buddy Rich never played rock, he played big band. Second, if you were to include him among these drummers, then he should be first. That's fact, not opinion.
lol thats funny how you took your comment back. yea Buddy Rich didnt play RknRoll there a lotta debate about that....I hope you think my videos still kick ass because he isnt first lol. thanks for the reply
one of the reasons why I put him is because people like Bonham, Bill Ward, Mitchell etc draw a lot of inspiration from Buddy, so--while he isnt rock---if there were no Buddy there would be a lot less kick booty rock bands. I tried to give him credit (idk if Neil Peart or Moon were studied Buddy.....probably but idk)
I enjoyed your list, but I fear these will videos will get flagged for copyright and get blocked...
Couple of songs missing: When The Levee Breaks (more significant than Kashmir in terms of drumming for example) Similarly The Mule should have been included, but I guess all Ian Paice songs have great drumming!
For all u people who want Rush, Neil Peart is overrated. The only reason hes number one is because he made it to the age of 40. Keith Moon is a better drummer just because he managed to make a whole song almost a drum solo and still have it sound good. Btw I would put Wont Get Fooled again a bit higher and let it get to his solo part.
Thanks chewman. I appreciate all your comments!! unfortunately I dont really enjoy the Mule, I think Ian Paice is beastly on most other DP trakcs. I know I know! How can I call myself a music lover
@Mikespyke No problem, thanks for the video! I was actually talking about Pat's Delight by John Bonham and Led Zeppelin. BUT HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE THE MULE?!?! Haha it's all good though.
Nice. no neil pert, very overrated, but at the same time very dissapointed, Van Halen def had a spot in this, listen to On Fire or Girl Gone Bad, some sweet drums there

@Mikespyke Lol. who gives a shit about the beat the entire song is a masterpiece on drums especially the drum fills brah.
Mcezz606 1 year ago
@Mcezz606 maybe but your last comment said it rapes everything else on drums, and you wanna say 'who gives a shit about the beat' ?? hmmm

@Mikespyke In fairness Achilles last stand maybe a simple beat but lets be fair, nobody does a beat quite like Bonzo!

achilles last stand kills every single one of these songs on drums

La Villa Strangiato by Rush has the best drum performance (for me).

LA VILLA STANGIATO ISN'T THERE!!!

1. replace White Room with Sunshine of Your Love.
2. consider Strawberry Fields or A Day in the Life
3. lose the AC/DC
4. is Buddy Rich rock and roll?
