I watched Sullivan's Travels some weeks and absolutely love his direction and his script and I pray to God I could write something like that. I always thought that Disney and Pixar were the only kind that made films of like that were can contain slapstick, sharp satirical dialogue, and drama all in one film!
Hey! I love The Lady Eve and Miracle of Morgan's Creek and The Palm Beach Story and The Great McGinty as much as anyone, but ... where's Unfaithfully Yours?
I think he's saying "its a good business if you know where to get the meat cheap" Thats from the Palm Beach Story. Great movie. Rudy Vallee sings his only recorded version of "Good Night Sweetheart"
"And it's a good business if you know where to get the meat cheap."
I don't even see how it's funny the way you heard it! I guess people these days will laugh at anything they think they are meant to, which explains the popularity of the average American sitcom and banal films which pass off as "comedy".

I can see why John Swartzwelder likes these movies so much.
"I'm not in the sausage business!"
"Neither am I, but it's a good business if you wanna know where to get good meat, cheif!"
WOO HOO! Swartzwelder!!

It's remarkable how badly you misheard that.
The quote is:
"And it's a good business if you know where to get the meat cheap."
I don't even see how it's funny the way you heard it! I guess people these days will laugh at anything they think they are meant to, which explains the popularity of the average American sitcom and banal films which pass off as "comedy".

His comedies certainly were the best made in those years, or any other years, for that matter. I wish I could attend that retrospect of his work.
