  • Entetprise was just a test shuttle it never got to space it alway's flew piggyback on a modified boeing it may got near space on that boeing but it never was in space

  • @KF6LIL , Enterprise almost replaced Challenger when it was lost...But you're right, it never actually flew into space. It was used as a glide-test and launch facilities checkout article in the stead of the operational orbiters. And it will have a new home at the Intrepid Air, Sea and Space Museum in New York. I got to see Enterprise last spring at Udvar-Hazy, and she is a beautiful craft.

  • no. 5 did. columbia,challenger,discovery,atlantis,and endeavour

  • go Story Musgrave!

  • LCC Commentator: Bruce Buckingham

    MCC Commentator: James Hartsfield

  • I agree they are all good ships, but to me, the baddest shuttle is Discovery which will fly again in about 2 weeks.

  • u have no idea what are the differnces between them.

  • hey now, Challenger was a good ship too. As was Columbia.

  • All five orbiters are good ships! They've served our space program well.

  • Only 4 shuttles have flown in space. Enterprise never flew.

  • Not so, Neptuneaus...There have been five operational orbiters--Atlantis, Challenger, Columbia, Discovery and Endeavour. Enterprise makes six.

  • Cag...I was sleep deprived when I wrote that only 4 vehicle have flown. I've seen every launch since STS 1. You are right that 5 orbiters have flown. Enterprise never flew in space, but was used for glide/landing testing. Enjoy the launch of STS 127 today...fingers crossed for the weather!

  • No problem, Neptuneaus. Enterprise was also used for launch facilities checkout at both KSC and SLC-6 at Vandenburg AFB in California. They also used pieces of Enterprise to determine what happened to Columbia back in 2003.

  • @Neptuneaus The ones that have flown in space: Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis, Endeavour.

    Thats five.

  • @nickyp28 See my response to Cag 1970 above ;)

  • I disagree, because all the shuttle are good ship, not only one of them. lol

  • NASA TV can be watched live on _VDC.COM_

  • I have a very hard time believing that its

live. There is a time delay whether they admit it

    or not!

  • Yup--Endeavour-shes a good ship. Yup Bruce Buckingham followed by a very nice commentary by James Hartsfield during the ascent.

  • Endeavour's the baby....

  • not!

challenger is she lasted 3 years 1983-1986

Endeavour lasted 14 years so far 1992-2006

now the 15th year in 2007

  • NASA...not ME!!! named Endeavour the baby because she was the Last ship assembled. You can go to any space web site and READ it for yourself.

  • look at the solid rocket booster flair like challenger...think of somthing

  • Very nice and the beginings of bruce buckingham

  • nice video
