  • i wonder do rich people have a better way of dealing with anxiety and panic? do rich people go to holistic doctors and get better results or what ?

  • uhhh and btw drugs that act on both serotonin and norepinephrine are called serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRI), not selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors(SSRI).

  • what do you mean that we can't treat anxiety with dopaminergic medications? just because narcotics increase dopamine doesn't mean it can't be used for anxiety. what if someone already has high levels of serotonin but they are low on dopamine? huh? are you just going to increase their serotonin even more to dangerous levels? btw you forgot one of the main neurotransmitters GABA.

  • I feel better staying out the way as much as I can. Its the conditions we live in that are only getting worst and as long as they continue so will the anxiety for everyone. All else is just a patchwork cure. The root problem is the environmental setup. Until that changes it will only be the same if not worst as a whole. Be strong read Jacque Fresco

  • Well for me I say we are not born with it per say, it instead comes from our screwed up environment/society and all the trash we are subjected to.

  • you are handsome. thanks for info

  • I watch this every time I have a panic attack. For some reason, I guess I fear health issues, so when I feel something strange it starts getting worse and worse until I just collapse in on myself and think I'm going insane. I am a very logical person, but again, fear is VERY hard to control.

  • Excellent vid. Very reassuring. Very true.

  • Hi gary have you ever tried buspirone? buspirone incombination with an antidepressant can be helpful, also venlafaxine is the medication the uk psychiatrists advise. cheers.

  • I was just diagnosed with GAD and depression. I'm just happy to know that I'm not crazy and there is a name for what I'm suffering from...Thanks for the encouraging words!

  • I just read what you wrote please know this-

and you don't need to pay for it. I used to live with anxiety, panic, ocd and agarophobi, all of this. Please see my site at: fuentesevangelism.c-o-m

  • Hi, I suffer from GAD, I am taking 20mg citalopram and L theanine. It is working but I do have occasional relapses. I think what you said about dopamine is true. L theanine helps boost dopamine levels slightly. What do you think about bupropion, a NDRI, Ive heard it can be very effective at treating GAD. cheers.

  • Enlightening, video I give you props for this presentation, thank you for sharing.

    Romano RN BSN

  • Hey there, I'm glad to see nurses speaking out on here. I'm an RN and I have anxiety secondary to suffering from chronic pain. Its tough, and you're right, medication is only part of it, but getting out there and doing the things that scare you is essential to rehabilitate you. I hope you're doing better :) I know I'm getting on the right path...

  • TANNK YOU !!!

I KNOW ALL THIS WORK BECAUSE I WENT TROUG - AND I MADE IT !1 But after 7 months getting my hair cut done (by my coworker) i got a panic attack a very bad one , but i new what it was and just try to control it !!!

I was ok but just to remember what i went troug last year!!!

So now im battleing it again !!!

I t is wway easier but just to know whats happening ... hate it !

  • My explanation I give to people is this;

If your talking to someone, and you happen to drop a pencil... it's not big deal. But to me, it's like almost getting into a major car accident. And instead of building adrenaline, I almost faint and the room starts spinning.

  • Awesome awesome. Just had my second panic attack--first panic attack where I was checked out at the ER and aware of what was going on. So helpful to see that other people experience this.

  • Thanks for this video dude! I've had severe panic the better part of 2 decades. I will say this. Never take benzos like xanax and klonopin. You will build a tolerance to these meds and eventually need more and more until u reach a point where no amount will work. You will then be forced to come off and your anxiety will be 1000 times worse than baseline and make take you several years to get back to baseline if you are lucky.

  • I should also mention that my fiance's brother ended up killing himself while on SSRIs so it's already a touchy subject for my fiance anyway, let alone doctors forcing the darn things down his throat.

  • How bout the terrible sd effcts SSRIs give u lk sexual dysfunct? That alone is enuf 2 cause n e 1 depres. My fiance suffers from anx & every psych just wanted 2 pump him w/drugs & did not even sug cog behav ther. Benzos r addctve? That's true, but so r SSRIs & ppl often suffer serious w/drawals when going off of them-not 2 mention they r hazardous 2 ur health. The prob is, that psychs are lazy these dys that they r drug dlrs, rather than offer vital thrpy 2 re-train the brain 2 overcome it.

  • Thanks for your videos man! I think you're helping alot of people by shedding a medical perspective on this whole ordeal.

  • Than You for this. I have never been diagnosed with a panic disorder but I have been to the ER so many times for what seem like "heart attack" symptoms. It's strage though because I'm only in my late 30's, I will be woken up by a racing heart, tingling in my left hand and chest pain.Even when I calm my self, my heart races untill it's done racing. I have had full work ups (like you mentioned) including stress tests, MRI's, everything and I always check out fine.

This is making alot of sense.

  • Those are the symptoms bro. I know it's a hard pill to swallow, because they seem to come outta nowhere- and leave you feeling like your dying:)

  • I have ocd ptsd and gad It is so terrible that I can't even run for 20 seconds without even having a panic attack. Thanks for this video I will try this stuff

  • Great Video........

  • Thanks brother. I love your words of inspiration. I like how you touched upon the fact that if you need to go out and do something, just tackle it. i was having those problems at many points during my life. Gonna keep this short, so thanks and peace out.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH....FINALLY IM NOT ALONE ON THIS. I've started having related problems early this year. I have depression for four consecutive months, went into fullblown panic and anxiety for most of the summer. It eased down and i would say im almost cured today. however, i have been getting small bouts of emptiness and panic on separate occassions. My doc has put me on atenolol and xanax...but i've decided to fight this alone. I've been exercising 3-5 times a week and i believed it has

  • helped me fight the bouts of emptiness and panic that i've been going through these past few months. I think this may also be attributed to withrdrawing from DEPAKOTE

  • but im taking atenolol to ease such anxiety symptoms

  • C.B.T is the SOLUTION for Panic disorder/Agoraphobia.Meds definitely will help you but will NOT cure you.I have had it for 20 years and i can say i am now "almost cured".I finally found a way out of the vicious cycle of panic by UNDERSTANDING MY CONDITION,FACING EVERYTHING THAT USED TO MAKE ME NERVOUSS AND ACCEPTING ALL THE HORRIBLE SYMPTOMS WITHOUT SHRINKING FROM OR RUNNING/HIDING FROM THEM.You can learn all this through the books/audio recording of a late Australian doctor named CLAIRE WEEKES.

  • When we understand WHY we have these strange sensations and feelings and BELIEVE that they are NOT life threatening we learn how to ACCEPT the sensations and then we will be able to STOP shrinking/running/hiding from Panic. We will also realise that thereis no MONSTER to hide from!Panic attacks are only APPREHENTION created dy our catastrophics thoughs. The panic/tension mounts and mounts and mounts untill we are sure we are dying or going insane or losing control. We do this to ourselves with fear

  • Thank you for recognizing this disorder. I've had it for 8 years already. I am on 4 meds for this bcause I suffer from a very bad case of it.

  • Gary, thanks so much for this video.

  • Thanks a lot. I also suffer of GAD & Panic. I agree: acceptance is the key. God bless you and thanks for this video.

  • Gary, you are a true healer. Thanks for doing this video! I learned alot. Please keep up this sort of work. You are helping more people than you know.

  • great video very informative and helpful

  • we are soooooooo on the same wavelength! I understand everything your talking about!!!! I've had panic/anxiety attacks now for 9 years. I wasted so many of these years too embarassed to go to counseling. After I did, I learned some tools that have made living a lot less anxious!!! Your videos rule!!!

  • Thanks you so much. I am sorry to hear about your brother. I became disabled last year, and I get the worst panic attacks. I am seeing my doctor Monday to see if I have any Thyroid or other condition like that. I to have had just about every test done on me as well. Thanks again, and please keep it up. You are doing a very great service to people , and we all should appreciate it.

  • You're awesome! Thank you so much!

  • I was now phobic of medication because all the times I went into the E.R. and was given albuterol nebulizer treatments, I always usually left the E.R. worse with my breathing..so this made me scared of medication...all of this horrible treatment/non treatment/mistreatment from this garbage hospital and it's cold hearted staff helped fuel what is now an out of control anxiety issue that I desperately need help with...my question is, I have accepted it, but the symptoms are so brutal, I am frozen.

  • Nate, I encourage you to watch my other videos and to see a psychiatrist. It sounds like you need to get on some anti-anxiety medications to calm down. You need to get a proper diagnosis.

    Regards, Gary

  • This happened to me, the albuuterol only made my breathing problems worse, because it made my heart beat faster! God Bless...all the best!

  • Thanks Gary. Very interesting. I'm an RN too. Made a similar video. Not as well described. Thank you.

  • Is panic herditary?

and can you give some other ways of helping with anxiety besides drugs? like multi-vitamins or any type of food i could it.

cuase I don't really wanna take them cause I heard they make you sleepy n stuff.

  • Panic and Anxiety can be Hereditary. In my case, my father had it, so did his brother and a few more members on his side of the family. As far as treatment goes, there are alternatives to meds, however each case is different, thus the treatment for you I can't comment on. Personally, I chose the medication regimen as it helped my father. Hope that helps.

    Gary

  • Alright thank you soo much.

I've only had anxiety disorder for a year.

and both of my parents both have it.

I know this is kinda a stupid qustion but does anxiety ever go away as people get older?

like will the number of attacks go away or go down.

cause I'm 18 and I get them everyday or like portions of my day and I'm able to handle them due to some self help stuff I read and your video. but I just wanna know if it will still be this way when I'm like 27.

  • I must say it was great of you to take time out of your day to post this. I'm sure you have helped someone out there. I know that you have made me feel less "stupid" and embarassed about myself and the possibilit of having a anxiety/panic disorder in myself. Thanx

  • I want to know why the doctors would perscribe me clonazepam and keep me on it for well....i'm 31 now so since I was about 22 years old? They know it's addictive and I am addicted to it as I pretty much lose it if I don't take it for a few hours(miss a dose).I don't abuse it. Effexor is the same with me if I forget for some reason to take it in the morning by night time I'm dizzy sick and have a low tolerance to bright light?? I know the drug companies want money but at the cost of my health?

  • Klonopin is a benzodiazapine, similar to Xanax and Ativan. Klonopin works longer. After being on the medicine for the length of time, your body is addicted to it. No question. If you feel like you don't need it anymore, you have to wean off of it. Depending on the dose, it can take up to a year. Otherwise, I would just accept the fact you may need it the rest of your life. Certainly, any side effects are gone. Effexor and the other SSRI's build up in the blood and plateau.

  • SSRI's work on a curve. The first few weeks, they build up in the blood. From there they take a straight line across, like in a graph. If you forget a dose, the line begins to come down, thus the beginning of withdrawl your feeling. The simple answer is, don't miss doses.

  • hi , i am on effexor as well and the doctors want me to double up... im scared because i get of the side effects, vertigo, dizziness, eyes senstive to light! makes u wonder why this happends

  • You need to clean up that room! Call in sick and stay home and clean!

You are extremely cute. I want you.

  • great video very helpfull

  • thank u so much.... u dont know how much your words have helped me right now.. plese make more vids when possible.

  • Very helpful vid, thanx for taking the time with this, Gary

  • I think people like you are brave for sharing your personal struggles on video with such a disabling, and also unfairly stigmatizing disorder(s). Thanks for putting yourself out there to help others!

  • and this past few months Ive had my first 2 real panic attacks where I started feeling numb in my legs then in my face (I was trying to not shoot my brother and kil! him)

  • I have severe anxiety and depression...sometimes when i smoke weed I will feel like my heart is beating too fast and im going to die (Dizzy out of body)....I once had a stroke I think (im only 20) after watching Pearl harbor I walked out the movie theater feeling heavy and all of a sudden everything turned white for a minute then i came back and felt out of it just a little since...I was still standing up so I didnt faint

  • A brain tumor would manifest itself by having more than just anxiety, other neurological symptoms would be present as well.

  • I can almost guarantee you, it is Anxiety. You can spend lots of money on co-pays and get checked with scans from head to toe. I recommend that everyone get their thyroid checked, and have a glucose tolerance test, and even a 24 hour urine collection to rule out and adrenal cyst. Otherwise, you can pretty much bet it's anxiety :-)

  • I just have a problem with saying "What if it's not anxiety?" or "What if it's so and so?"

  • Great post, very comforting
