  • my Widows folder is 10.9GB would you pleas tell me the reason??

also my brother is using the same laptop with windows 7 ultimate faster than me even though im using Window 7 starter does that relates to the programs you talked about (Abode reader, Norton, MS office 2007) i only need the smooth & fast running for my notebook so pleas help

  • @ESLAM0111067548 It depends on what you install in your PC. The lighter the apps the better. Try using Web Apps than traditional apps so you won't use a lot of hard disk space. The Windows folder uses up about 5GB (I suppose, the first install makes 7GB on default). If your using a new laptop. Find a Tech Expert to reformat it for you so you will have the defaults... Without those extra software that you don't really need... Reply to this message please.

  • how do i get windows dvd maker. it works in concert with movie maker.

  • @deitykush Windows DVD Maker is not available in the Starter and Home Basic Editions of Windows 7 and Windows Live Movie Maker will not have the DVD Burning feature in these editions. There are alternatives live Freemake Video Converter & DVDStyler. Try one of them and see what you like...

  • now you can install libreoffice i know this because i use arch linux and ubuntu oh yea i still do like windows when you got windows and a linux distro who needs mac os x when got both linux and windows :)

  • @2111thekiller I also like to dual boot but I prefer one OS per machine...

  • whats better microsoft security essentials or avg basic 2011 ???

  • @kieronowns for me, it's MSE has a small installer file. AVG has 100mb! I use MSE always since I'm tired of using AVG for 2 weeks. It's your choice, choose one.

  • @newecreator i think i will go for MSE cheers mate

  • I have a question for those who are watching.

Would I make another "Making the most out of your Windows 7 Starter" video?

  • @newecreator

maybe if you think of anything else you could have put in.

Your video has really good by the way.

  • @Shirley7923 I'll be making the third video. I already made the second video in the video responses.

  • is there windows movie maker on windows 7 starter???? i use it for my youtube vids

  • Thanks alot man! My computer now sooooo fast and funtastic! XD

  • what did you use to record the screen?

  • @MRiGames CamStudio, it works like a charm.

  • so is it good to downloade all this stuff causee i have the hp mini

  • @AlyssaWebTV Yes it is good to download these stuff (All of them are free). Just download what you need.

  • Thanks man, avast 5 it is. Opera work better than IE8, no need for battery hogger adobe flash flayer.

  • What the best free anti-virus for win 7 starter ?

  • @TheJavaowl

MIcrosoft Security Essentials - easy to install if you have genuine and it is very lite. I use it myself

Avast 5 - even not genuine but you need to register every year

AVG Free - it takes 2 hours just to update and costs space

I do not recommend Avira, the free version has nagware (nags you to upgrade to pro version)

  • I actually try to run win 7 ultimate on my netbook it takes about 20% more resource than win 7 starter, the problem is it getting slow, now im dual boot win 7 starter and une 10.04.

  • @TheJavaowl I virtualized Windows 7 Ultimate with 512 RAM. It works fine but bitterly slow.

  • NICE INFO, do you know how to change backgrown with our own custom picture.

  • @TheJavaowl I know. I'm just making my point that, having Windows 7 Starter is fine as long as your having fun with it. Actually this is also my list of favorite apps for laptops and desktops.
