Hey, maybe you can help me please, I have a 2011 GT Premium, and I'm looking for that better sound. How much did you pay for the two? Which company did you order from? Did you perform the install, or take it to the shop? How long, how much? Simple bolt-on? Is there DRONE at cruise? Also, how much estimated HP and Torque gain? And, if you add Cold Air Intake, how much more gain? Sorry for so many questions. Please let me know, thanks so much!
I paid about $260 shipped from LateModelRestoration. I took it to the shop and paid $60 to install. It is simple bolt on and took only 30 minutes. No drone at all at any rpm. There is no hp or torque gain with these mufflers. It is only for better sound. Sound is amazing compared to stock. I think these mufflers are best bang for the buck! :-)
@pokkusmon Thank you for the info, very helpful. I plan to buy from LateModelRestoration and have installed at my shop here. Will adding CAI (in addition) be beneficial, in your opinion?
i got a shelby 2011 and was wanting to get a new exhaust aswell. my pal got a 5.0 with a (the dealers words, i have no idea): Ford Racing Exhaust. i liked the sound so i decided thats what im gonna get for my gt500, question: is it the exact same for the 5.0 and for the gt500 or are there differences? cant seem to figure it out online so i thought i asked here
If your pal have changed his 5.0 stock exhaust to Ford Racing GT500 exhaust (mufflers only), then I think you both already have same exhaust. Because I think that these Ford Racing GT500 mufflers are stock parts on Mustang Shelby GT500, but I am not 100% sure. Maybe you should verify this from your dealer.
I've been shopping for an exaust for my 2011 5.0. Did you check out Borla S-type, Bassani, or Flowmaster before you made your purchase? If so, why did you go with the Ford racing exaust?
In my opinion Ford Racing GT500 sounded best and it has no drone at all at any RPM. I liked the sound because it not too loud compared to stock but it have clearly deeper sound, which I like a lot. Borla, Bassani or Flowmaster are too loud for me and some of them have too "raspy" sound and I don´t like that. GT500 was also very cheap: ~270$ with delivery included. Install was also very easy. If you can lift your car, you can install this by youself easily.
I can honestly say that I have heard lots of compliments about my exhaust sound and its one of the best mods what I have done to my Mustang. You can´t go wrong if you choose this exhaust. So many people have chose other exhaust and then changed it to something other, because they think that exhaust sounds too loud.
@pokkusmon wow that does sound awesome. It's all about personal prefrence though. I like loud just not ear bleeding loud so I went with the roush axle back. But recently got pretty much handed a set of the borla s type axle backs....can't wait to get them on. Were these any lighter than the stock mufflers or are they about the same?
I didn´t measure the weight of the GT500 mufflers, but I think that the weight is almost same than stock, because the both mufflers are so identical from outside.
No, they are not. Wheels are 19" and painted alumium (255/40R19). Exactly the same wheels, which come with the optional brembo brake package. Tires are Pirelli P Zero summer tires.
@pokkusmon thanks a lot for the quick reply! was very helpful! since I am in switzerland I don't have too many options as to where to buy it from (shipping issues). but I am pretty shure my dealer can order it from ford racing parts.
great car and amazing sound! I checked the ford racing website; is this the so called SVT muffler kit (M-5230-MGTCA1)? it is like 340 dollars, right? It sounds so terrific, I wanna get it when my 2012 mustang arrives!
@paesce78 Thanks man! Sound is really great. Especially the cold start is always amazing.
You have the right part number. I bought mine from Latemodel Restoration Supply and it cost less than $270. Installation was direct fit (no extra parts needed) and very easy. Service guys changed the exhaust in 30 minutes and it cost me $60.

@PeterReingold
I would not buy CAI without tune. CAI is pretty useless without the tune.
