  • Why is everyone saying that Page is'nt good in this concert? Hes doing fine.

  • All I kwow is that its a great video of a great musicians making great music for the benefict of the human being!!! Thanks for sharing!!

  • Jimmy's on so much heroin he decided to use one of his fender's....:P

  • God only knows how much good music we lost when Jimmy went on heroin. He was a shadow of his former self by the time of these concerts.

  • @hughjardon09 ... It's probably the heroin mixed with whatever alcohol he had before going on stage. He still has "a drink" before a concert.

  • BEFORE FLOYD ROSE... :D

... maybe some inspiration going on... idk

  • what kind of drugs did jimmy take before going on stage? probably like some kind of pills right

  • @MrCjp37 Im pretty sure he shot a lot of heroine. There was probably some pills, weed and a lot of alcohol there too

  • Thank you for sharing - those were the days of Plant and Page-sooooo cool...

  • jimmy with a strat!!!!

  • Jimmy estaba hasta la manija

  • I'm wondering if Page's main problem here is not drugs or using a tremolo arm (which was nothing new at all so I don't believe the Van Halen influence) but just perhaps being very tired and fatigued. That band put a lot of hard work in and people shouldn't expect them to be look and sound perfect every time. Those stage lights are exceptionally hot, they didn't have LED lighting in those days!

  • @JoeChapmanUK They are also suffering from starting the song too fast, it rushes the guitars and vocals.

  • Page was the best rock guitarist in the world, but it's obvious that he was just TOO FUCKING STONED HERE! LOL

  • Paige and plant will always amaze me....If not ...one of the best bands that ever happenned in my lifetime (different music (the beatles) Life...?

  • Until this show Page had very rarely played a guitar with a tremelo. He had heard EVH a few years back and almost shit his pants. This is Jimmys attempt at using a whammy, because of Eddie. He knew he was getting old and this was his attempt at keeping up with the young gun slingers. Thing is, Page is my guitar hero, and shouldnt have bothered. He is still top draw as far as Im concerned!

  • Jimmy Page is awful here.

  • @StevieWasp Nope

  • Check the description just a simple world that describes everything!!!!Rock!

  • a melhor banda de todos os tempos

  • i belive jimmy held thewammy becase he thought it woud one sound good and 2 cuz he was lazy and if u looked at live dazed and confused some with the bow sound well ear wrecnhing but it was his frist time doing it

  • My grandfather worked with led Zeppelin from 1969 to 1980. Robert Plant smoked a little bud and drank two glasses of wine before he performed. John Paul Jones had two shots of Jack Daniels, and occasionally had a hit of bud. John Bonham had a special blend of Jack Daniels and Vodka, fused into one drink and had nearly a fifth of that before getting onstage from 1972 till 1980. Jimmy Page did heroin three times and had a fifth of Jack before getting onstage. 1969 to 1973 only jack and weed.

  • @JustinPierce1226 Untrue Jimmy never touched the stuff (heroin) till 76.

  • @MixxMasterKid Fall of 1975 he started using. Before then he had thoughts of it, but never dabbled until then. Before that it was jack and weed. On rare occassions he'd mix a few alcohols together. I have confirmed this with some ex roadies.

  • Classic example of why you never wear silk shirts when it's gonna be hot. Great song. Thanks for posting.

  • yet even 'Page-all fucked up' beats any/every one else. imho

  • There's no point arguing jeeze. His first guitar is a 1959 Futurama Grazioso that he got when he moved into this new house. He just found it laying around, probably from the previous owner of the house.

Just listen to the music already.

  • @RobbyBobbins ok....I won't that, because you are gay so fuck you....bitch

  • @RobbyBobbins I have watched and it just says the first guitar he USED was a stratocaster the first electric guitar he OWNED was a telecaster and any web page will say the same....bitch

  • @RobbyBobbins actually it was a telecaster....bitch

  • When was this,was it Knebworth 1979 I think ? Am I right ?

  • Comment removed

  • I love this song, generally I love all songs from 'In Through Out the Door'. When I hear this album's I would lie down in the sun with beer in hand

  • Demasiado bueno para ser cierto <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

  • I was suprised to se Page playing a strat but now I udnerstand its to use the tremolo.

  • jimmy looks like shit here

  • I'm glad the guys running the P.A made John Paul Jones overpower Page in this because Jimmy's all fucked up here. I'm glad John Paul and John Bonham never get all fucked up before or during a show. They are the most consistent when it comes to performance, I've never heard them screw up once! Plant and Page however, all I can say is taking drugs is a bitch! They are all gods anyways since it's Led Zeppelin I'm talking about here. Long live the best rock band to ever exist! Remember this music!

  • @RockerForLife74 Who cares if they got drunk or high before a show what matter is that they were there to play it and they always gave all they got in every performance, Not to mention the amazing music thats what made Zep one great fucking band!

  • @SpitMucus69 I'm just pointing out the facts man. The latter years of Led Zeppelin aren't as good as the early years because of the drug use. Hell, they lost John Bonham to alcohol! (alcohol is considered a drug). If anything, Led Zeppelin were always amazing live, high as fuck or not. The drugs died down the "amazing" aspect, but even the worse of the concerts were still really good. Overall, Zep is the best band to ever exist, but the band was better off sober.

  • @RockerForLife74

Yea you made some good points there. But i agree with you the early days where ALOT better i would take "the song remains the same movie" or this any day or the 1960's era. You never know though they could have been getting fucked up in their early days but it just seemed like drugs ffinally to a toll on them. But no matter what the r amazing

  • Agreed. I believe that the entire band only did pot and various mixtures of alcohol from 1968 to 1975. Bonham rarely drunk any alcohol before a show and if he did, it wasn't enough to fuck him up, just make him a bit more loose. Same with Jonsey. 1975 is the year Jimmy Page started using heroin, so that explains why the 1977 tours were sometimes bad on Jimmy's part. 1977 was considered to be Led Zeppelin's "dark year" for obvious reasons. Nevertheless, Led Zeppelin was amazing throughout.

  • @RockerForLife74 they did pot, cocaine, herion , and alcohol and maby even LSD

  • @JR28951 Yeah pretty much. The only drug on there that doesn't mess up your playing is pot. Proof? Jimmy and Robert were stoned outta their minds in the Royal Albert Hall concert in 1970. I'd say one of Jimmy's best performances is from the Royal Albert Hall. Overall;

    Pot = Good.

Heroin, Cocaine, LSD, Meth, Alcohol, Shrooms, Ecstasy and whatever else I'm missing = BAD.

  • @RockerForLife74 you cant really say that for them doing drugs was bad cuz look at them now their rich and drugs helped them make some of their songs and such

  • @JR28951 That didn't really make much sense. The drugs didn't get them rich. Their talent, creativity, originality, passion, skill, etc... got them rich and successful. I bet they were smoking pot during a lot of the time writing their songs but I bet you would get the same result if they were sober when writing. The pot just relaxed them, the creativity came from the whole band already being amazing in the music department. Hots on for Nowhere was inspired by Plant's heroin use, but that's it.

  • @RockerForLife74 - Jimmy is great whether or not he's high! Who gives a shit if he got sloppy at times? I got news for you pal, despite Jones and Bonham being superb musicians it was Page & Plant that sold out the arenas!

  • @StompingRabbits Yeah, Page and Plant did, but this is nothing compared to their earlier performances. 1968 to 1975 Led Zeppelin was at their height, and all of their performances were absolutely fantastic. 1977 and 1979 got sloppy and although some performances in Zeppelin's "darker" days were good, some performances are just sad. Hell, August 4th of the Knebworth Concert was great! Page was in good shape too! This is August 11th. All fucked up. I love Zep, but some concerts are just bad.

  • @RockerForLife74 actually Bonzo was usually drunk during the shows.

  • @LedZeppQueenBeatles No he wasn't. Bonzo said himself that he woul never get drunk before a show. he would drink tea instead because he wouldn't want to screw up a song since he's the foundation of the band. If the foundation falls, so will the band. That applies to songs as well as the band's dynamic which sadly crumbled with Bonzo's passing in 1980. And even if Bonzo consumed any alcohol before a concert, he wouldn't drink enough to screw him up. Just a little buzz I guess.

  • @RockerForLife74 its a disrespect to led this comment, live the sound its not the same as a cdthey all do drugs and bonham do more that every one im brasilian sorry for the english

  • @smeeagoool No prob man. And you gotta look at things in a quality perspective. You're going to see the best hard rock band of all time, Led Zeppelin. You're expecting a life transforming night because that's what their concerts do. Then you see Page playing like this the entire night... I'm not saying the show was a complete failure, it's just Jimmy botched this concert up with a drug that shouldn't even exist. Heroin.

  • @RockerForLife74 dude...john bonham was the biggest alcoholic, but page's just shows it more when he is high, you know, in almost every group of friends, there is someone who's going really crazy with alcohol ( or other stuf ) than others, thats just like page, but yeah page is pretty fucked here ghehe

  • @Luukeeeehh Believe me, I'm perfectly aware of what each member of Led Zeppelin was when it came to substance/alcohol. With John Bonham, he did drink vast quantities of liquor but he never screwed himself up with it. It is documented in "Hammer of the Gods" (one of their biographies), that Bonham would drink tea before every show because he was more than aware of the fact that he needs to be in top form for every show. He's keeping the beat! Screw that up, and EVERYBODY screws up. RIP Bonzo

  • @RockerForLife74 yeah thats for suse!!!! john bonham plays amazing just loke jones

    to bad he died :(

  • Poor Pagey, about 120 lbs, cigarette dangling, and sweating like crazy.

  • @Exilemainstreet 2thumbs up2funny!!!

  • @Exilemainstreet thats a joint man

  • @Exilemainstreet holy shit im 120 lb's and im 12

  • Hendrix was good - but no Page. It sure is sad to see Page so strung out. We're all lucky he didn't kill himself with that shit

  • Kinda makes me sad seeing this old vid of Mr Page in such bad condition, being as he is my biggest idol :0...

At least he's a lot better off now then he was then. Maybe one day, if I'm lucky, he'll do a tour in the USA, and if even luckier I'll be able to meet him someday :D

  • @ZeppelinxOfxLed did ya watch the movie with him????

  • @Tomd1013 Eh, pardon? Like a..documentary-movie?

  • @ZeppelinxOfxLed no not a documentry..... a rockumentary ;)

  • @Tomd1013 Ahh yesyes a rockumentary, of course! My mistake haha xD

  • to Jill T out in oaktown ...

  • @Guitarifflessons

yea he sometimes switches with different songs

  • Jimmy is king

  • oh YEAH!!!

  • Page on a strat .. looks much better!!!! : )

  • High

  • jimmy looks fucked up!

  • @ledZepIsEpic

i can see that the sound is impossible to imagine on an les paul

  • jimmy with a strat you dont see that everyday

  • @strangebrew67 the way in the evening is played, it is impossible to play it with a les paul

  • @strangebrew67 yea i think it proves that jimmy doesn't care about his appearence but the sound of the guitar lyk u don't c slash wit a strat becuz it would kill his image but jimmys ok with it

  • This audio was edited.!! this is not from DVD. even fior uboob.

  • wow a fender!

  • Page is absolutely smacked out of his head. This is horrible.

  • @deslock1 yeah, i love Jimmy, but he is definitely full of enough heroin to kill a horse in this vid

  • Jimmy Page is fucking beast. Rock on

  • Love this version of In the Evening.

  • Robert looks and sounds great. Jimmy's a leeetle fucked up.....Plant always has and always will look bad ass up there. Bonham is the best...One of my favorite songs, repetitive but wicked......I gotta haaaaaaaaveee...Woooo!!!

  • Wow Jimmy Page tone sounds like shit and that solo is just awful. Plant could do better but Drums and Bass sound on for the most part. WTF!

  • This is the 11th show. They were off this night. The one on the 4th is better.

  • @Silverlabel101 the solo is kool

  • ,,,I kinda know what you mean but you shouldn't really criticize them so much seeing that each performance is going to be different and not like the studio version, besides Plant really did tons of killer performances with other songs and we all know how good he is, their live setup for this just wasn't perfect and Page was on a lot of heroin during this phase of Zeppelin.

  • this version sounds like fuckin circus music...what da fuck is up?

  • Sex.

  • yeahhhhhhhhh led zeppelin por siempre la mejor banda de rock del mundo ,,|,,

  • thanx

  • that's only because at this point pagey was on some serious heroin, and plant was losing his voice because he never took care of it, and also didn't care anymore...you're looking at a pretty fed up, and just plain old burnt out led zeppelin! but i mean it's not that bad as you described ..i think you're exaggerating just a little bit !

  • With a username like yours, I take it you are a Zep fan...We must not be watching the same video...

  • Excellent use of tremolo. It's not easy to use it and pick at the same time, and still have that kind of control.

  • A mythical concert...And a great version of this underrated song...

  • No your fucking stupid page and led zep are way better than hendrix

  • ,,,poor Hendrix didn't live long enough.

  • Jimmy page and zep are way more creative than jimi hendrix! Name one led zeppelin song that sounds like another with simaler riffs? Dont bother you wont be able to. Now name like 17 jimi hendrix songs that sound almost exactly the same. Easy. Led zeppelin is greater than hendrix! It just basic math!

  • youre an idiot

  • @bushwasher116 let ZEPPELIN RULEZ !! but Hendrix too ! ;-) & Deep Purple....and and and....Black Sabbath, Mars Volta - all ONE :-))

  • wow! Plant's vocals are amazingly perfect in this one! :D

  • Coolee, before you judge other's bad grammar, try fixing your own. AWESOME WE LOVE YOU ZEP!!!

  • they had enough passion to carrie on especially page he reallydrugged up here but passion never went away fab song 5/5

  • I used to date carrie on

  • this is kind of a preview of what could of happened if bonzo didn't die. a new sort of style more synth that probably would of been their style in the 80s i think they would of kept on going till today because of all the drugs and disaters in77...

  • Something about Page with a strat is so... Perfect!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • you know so much about hendrix but you said 1983 a merman i should turn to be is on Axis, its actually on electric ladyland.

  • What's wrong with that solo???

  • heroin

  • hendrix extremeley over rated?, are we talking about the same hendrix? both are the best in their own right, just like eddie van halen does his thing, slash does his thing, stevie ray does his thing and so forth.

  • go brits we put the rock in ROCK!!

  • Poor Jimmy..satan is calling...

  • YEAHHHHHHHH

FUCKING ROCK AND ROLL yeahhh THE BEST BAND since ROCK is

LED ZEPPELIN THE BEST BAND of all times ROCK AND ROLL the best music

  • We cannot really compare each guitarist to one another. They were all great at what they did. Now, when it comes to onstage presence, yes Jimmy Page does beat them all lol. No doubt he has today's guitarist and the pasts' guitarist beat. Also, Comparing Led Zeppelin to other bands: They win outright when it comes to stage presence. Mostly every band since and during there reign acknowledges that fact. But talent wise? All are good in their own.

  • I think that fact you speak of is an opinion and subjective. I think The Who with Keith Moon looking wilder then any drummer ever(Bonzo's hero BTW) and Roger with the long hair, Pete with the windmill guitar heroics and Entenwhistle's statue like presense is/was the equal of Zep as far as stage presence. Again, it ain't fact because its an opinion and that is subjective no matter what you write or think about it.

  • Well, knowing Page and a few others from the Zeppelin camp I guess does eliminate me from being non opinionated lol. But yes, there were others who could really rev a good show!

  • Anthaleus- everyone is opinionated that being the point of subjectivity in my post, that was the the only fact I was acknowledging. BTW, I like so many worship Led Zep on all levels possible, studio or live they were a true monster band. I also love The Orrible Ooooo and am so glad to have both and then some for my listening pleasure in this world. All their music stands the test of time.

  • the. most. amazing. song..

  • jimmy page and strato

  • this show was awesome. about comparing clapton and hendrix to page ringostar8 V i think pages music was just soo much better than anything either of those two could come up with. so you have to take that into consideration that his stuff was ten times more intricate, and every led zeppelin album was fucking amazing and most of hendrixs songs suck and almost all of claptons albums suck. i still love all of them, but im sorry ringo, i believe jimmy page was better than both of them, no question.

  • Do not speak out of preference. Just because you dislike Hendrix and Clapton does no mean they are not good. For CHRIST sake, Jimmy Hendrix is #1 guitarist on list of best players of all time. Clapton is a great guitars and by ALL MEANS does not SUCK. GAWD You r a reject 2 consider Jimmy page that much more of a god when really, zepplins POWER came from the fact that all 4 parts of their band wer equally amazing. Plants voice, in this song especially, is just as valuable as the guitar. JESUS

  • yeah? just because rolling stone said hendrix was? dude dont get me wrong i love i fucking LOVE eric clapton and jimi hendrix. they are all good. but personally all im saying is that the shit that came out of led zeppelin (which jimmy page wrote!!) was way better than cocaine or purple haze. just my opinion.

  • you could ask clapton,he'll just tell ya ,"jimmys better"

you do know that album "slowhand"

thats jimmys nic name (lovingly) for eric. he has called him that since idonno about 40years

  • xXkingPurpXx - Its Jimi Hendrix, not Jimmy FYI.

  • Hendrix died just before his peak people got to understand jimi didnt hv it easy a lot of people took advantage of him so i feel i didnt musicly develop because must of his stuff is Jams because he didnt have a good guide to show if he didnt die and took a break and just made songs he would be a king led zeppelin were in there prime jimi died before his and is still today the best guitarist plus i mean the guitar solo led zepelin just did was suck jimi was a 1 man band and a top peformer

  • lol ok i didn't understand anything you just said. That was just my opinion dude, i believe that Jimmy Page is a far better musician than Jimi Hendrix. Jimi Hendrix came out with only a select few good songs and every single one of Led Zeppelin's albums were amazing. Every sing one. And Led Zeppelin played far bigger shows than Jimi ever did.

I like Jimi Hendrix, but he is extremely overrated in my opinion.

And as for this solo he did, he was fucking high as shit dude give him a break.

  • @ChoadaLoad666 i completely agree page was better than hendrix. i think if hendrix wasnt dead he wouldnt get the attention. yeah he was bad ass but page was the best. is the best. from a guitarists standpoint

  • Since when does the size of the show matter? Look at the Jonas Brothers and their big-ass concerts, they still suck ass. Not saying Led Zeppelin sucks...

  • well usually when you play a big show people like you. im not saying i personally like the jonas brothers but a lot of fucking people like them obviously to go to their shows? Led Zeppelin played like one of the biggest gigs in history at tampa beating the Beatles record, so i would THINK most of those fans came to see them play buddy.

  • if that's really what you think then you don't know much about Hendrix. if you want to talk about pure creative musicianship, throw on ANY song from axis:bold as love(especially 1983 a merman i should turn to be) and listen to the perfectly crafted layers. it's completely mind blowing.

to my Page has sort of a "British" way of phrasing his notes and Jimi is heavy blues and that's really the only comparison I'd draw between them.

Im sometimes in a mood for one, other times the other one.

  • by the way Jimi Hendrix was never this inconsistent on stage. He was tripping skulls on LSD some nights and on cocktails of other insanity other nights, so don't use "he's high" as an excuse. if you cant perform well, you've got a problem as a musician

  • @ChoadaLoad666 jimi hendrix is not famous because of his album work, you have to listen to bootlegs and some live performances to actually mind the greatness of jimi. Jimmy page is well know for his production skills, and his overdubbing that at the time was pretty impressive.

  • @ChoadaLoad666 A few select good songs? You're fucking retarded pal... get the fuck outta here.

  • @redbuffalo15 go fuck yourself you big bitch. im expressing my opinion so you can go fuck a couch you faggot.

  • @ChoadaLoad666 Too bad you're opinion doesn't matter... nigger lover.

  • You simply can't compare a band of 4 very talented and innovative musicians, one of them, JPJ a very successful producer, to the most innovative electric amplified guitarist who was basically a one man show.

Hendrix invented, mastered and took to new levels the art of playing two instruments simultaneously, the guitar and the feedback from his amp.

You simply can't compare these two very different guitarists, they are apples to oranges, BOTH are awesome legends in their own right!

  • To state a fact natural ressonainse from a guitars amplifier is not a seperate instrument. There is natural feedback from every instrument and on a guitar the feedback is coming from the frequency that the guitar carries on so it still only comes from "1" instrument. Its just utilizing your frequency notes being carried from the individual playing the guitar! I take it that the person that posted this doesnt know much about guitars lol.Natural feedback is not a seperate instrument lol...

  • @MegaKramer5150

You are saying that Hendrix was not in control of the feedback and the feedback in Hendrix songs was just a natural part of the guitar being played and required no special talent on Jimmi's part? If so, then why can't YOU play Jimmi Hendrix's "Star Spangled Banner" just like he did at Woodstock? And why is he so famous and you are a nobody amateur YouTube spectator and commentator, just like me? Or maybe you are saying Jimmi had magic guitars with more "natural" feedback?

  • @mityno1 If you would have taken the time to actually read the post you would realize that your completly dumfounded about your statement! I will say again.Feedback is not a seperate instrument. Its a frequency already being produced from a guitars natural feedback and to even state another fact depending on the frequency level feedback can also be considered as another note depending on where you place it.Ofcourse Hendrick is in control of the displacement of the feedback you wanker!!!

  • @mityno1 Also for the record i make $40,000 off of playing music and i play Star Spangled Banner Very well like Hendricks and its very easy! Also to further that i have $50,000 dollars tied up in equipment and i know 150 songs by heart and everytime i play its always a 4 hr set with 50 songs. But you wouldnt know cause you have never heard. So atleast if your gonna be on you tube all day stop dissing yourself and do your homework before you run that pie hole! Leave the thinking to professionals!!

  • @MegaKramer5150

Awesome! I'm in Atlanta Georgia... I would LOVE to see you and meet you in person. I'd bet I can show you some things I can do with your guitar and your equipment that you haven't done yet... like play "bugger" with your your guitar, it's a pretty funny trick worthy of a Youtube video. It can make YOU famous! Please let me know if you are ever in the Southeastern USA.

  • @ChoadaLoad666 still a great solo.

  • yeah but alot of guitarists died before their peak.

Rory Gallagher was one of them (highly influential on slash, brian may etc but not too well known he didnt want to be famous)

tommy bolin was another. Or Roy Buchanan (his version hey joe is unreal)

the best guitarists arnt all clapton and them if you check out guys they used to do jams/sessions with THEY were the best.

mind you saying that Page/ Hendrix are unbeliveable guitarists. but are only rated high due to their commercial success

  • NO

stop rite there, your last line is pure nonsense/not due to their commercial success. PAGE IS ratted highest because of his his talented compositions.

  • HennesseyClyyde-How well did you do in school without using periods in your writings? Consider using them as they really help you no look like a complete idiot. Sorry but damn that is one horribly written post.

  • i dont think that jimmy page was a brilliant guitarist live, phanominal session guitarist but he lacks stage presence. he cant put the same soul in an improvised solo as hendrix or clapton in my opinion. hes a fantastic writer, better then clapton. still think hendrix tops em all. none of them are by any means the best technical or fastest players but they have released the best collection of work in my eyes.

  • ringostar8, You should have gone to specsavers!! Ask them to ckeck your ears whilst you are there you muppet!!

  • i dont even know what you are talking about, so cool. thanks bud. ill get right on that

  • you called him a "muppit"!!! funnieeeee

  • the best band in history on earth in heaven, hell everywhere!

  • jimmy looks weird with a strato

i'm used to see him with his les paul

  • The Guitar sounds fuck!

  • i find this an amazing amazing version ...

  • in the evening I love to drive my car up and down the LIE.. It frees my mind

  • In the evening is where The party is at

  • You'll NEVER understand WHY It's not easy to be me!

  • jimmy page quote " im not into solid foods that much" look how thin he is

  • Plant is in good form here, but Jimmy is going WAY heavy on the tremolo.

  • Not one of Zeps finer recordings...sounds like kids at a talent show sept the drumming.

  • i knew it, thats a phone right? hey but in the song i haven't noticed the ringing.. ? minute??

  • Yes there is a phone by JPJ. It's for when they play Trampled Under Foot. If you listen to the original you can hear a phone ring in the background and so as a joke they left it in the live version too.

My gosh someone needs to put an iv in Jimmy Page before he passes out from dehydration from all the alcohol and stuff in his system

He is still one of the most influential guitarists ever.

  • the phone was in the ocean

  • really ?a phone rings in the ocean?

    really what part?

  • around 1:38 and 1:41

it is very recognisable when you hear it

  • Bad soundboard setup on this night, nothing is done correctly thats what makes it sound so weak. Plant's face at 0:30 is quite amusing though. Zeppelin forever!
