Interesting unit. While it may reduce heat on the rope and device itself, I am leery of the comment "any distance any speed". Speed is bad for a couple reasons. One being friction and heat, which your attempting to address. The next is Mass times acceleration. The faster you go and the further you go the more energy you impart on your system. There is a reason rappels by the pros are slow and cautious. Don't want to break rope or anchors by sudden stops or deceleration.
looks as though it can do most things, the only problem is it looks too big and heavy. not really something i would like to carry round with me. think i would rather go for something like a grigri, petzl - I'D or even a petzl stop. this product isnt known and we dont know the problems with it yet
will be keen to see the guts of it once your patents are sorted. looks like a bit of a load in the operating hand. shame about the single stop function. can it be used in MA?
so after you socked that rope in motor oil how long till someone died because it snaped. climbing ropes are not desined to get oil or any other craplike that on them, or else they will snape.
PS. don't coment and say that im an idoit and i don't know what im talkeing about because im a semi-pro in rock climbing k
@LTAIRSOFT: They did this this for a demonstration. Something like "destructive testing" (not to be used again). Besides, I have never heard of a rope SNAPE! maybe SNAP. It's appears you were going "semi-pro" during spelling class.
"More" in free-fall. Darwins theory works the same with any device. This concern can be eliminated with proper belay support from the botton. Our device is "fireman belay" friendly. There is always an easier solution.
It is between Centre and Collinesville in notheast Alabama. Check out southeast climbers dot combo. They post good pictures of various climbs at the rocks. It has every skill level imaginable.
Nice, had the same idea as I rapeled with a other device that gets freakin hot ad askey myself why noone uses wheels in a specific setup... Nice to see others had the same idea and it works.
"Eliminates",or "less"?The device stops, correct? If so,then the claim "friction-less" should not be claimed.'Rolling Friction'(your device)causes heat, not eliminate. When contacting surfaces move relative to each other, the friction between the two surfaces converts kinetic energy into thermal energy,or heat.I'm no tree hugger, but what you did with the motor oil is idiotic, and probably illegal,i'm not looking for a response to that one, just realize that you lost credibility, respect, and sales.
somebody has to do it,as idiocy is rampant in america, your sarcasim proves my point, and i do fell sorry for you. There's so much crap out there especially intentionally harming the environment, and you don't expect negative feedback? Are you braindead?or just a stereotypical american(semi-retarded)?but thanks for the motivation,i'll report it now, to the EPA and maybe the sierra club would like to see what was done with the motor oil, !@#$ing idiot.put it on youtube no less, brainiac.
Did you ever stop and think that the man pictured in the video immediatly cleaned up this small bit of oil and that no residual contaminants were left. Johnny has climbed this group of rocks for 15 years, organized clean-ups for the park and has maintained existing rappelling routes while discovering and maintaining over fifty percent of the new ones for the enjoyment of the great outdoorsby himself and others. Speaking of harming the environment , I would guess that you do not walk to work.
missed the cleanup part. and i was just responding to your ludicrous claims, or more like idiotic. how about we go spray paint on some trees, we'll clean it up later, ha ha, sound stupid? or familiar(you). you embarrass me(fellow american)
What specific claim do you find ludicrous and/or idiotic? I would be happy to address any questions and look forward to a dialogue containing a little more constructive and specific criticism.
wow, to exchange with a used car salesman(insanity), i'll just quote you: "See the J-Arms Frictionless Descender in action. Repel any distance without friction or heat on your rope... This Product will be availble to the public soon. Please visit our website for more information".
Im not here to argue pointless matters, just pointing out bogus bull@#$% with scientific facts. i win.
Scientific fact?See application for Nobel prize. Our device is in action on the video and repels any distance without heat on the rope or(detrimental) friction . We will be at the New River Gorge Bridge on bridge day. I will personally drop 876 Feet in one rappell ,faster than anyone that lived to tell about it! I would really like to see you ride it and eat some words. but most internet key pounders can't handle real world challenges. Our claims are real and I defy anyone to prove otherwise.
This device has been labled frictionless because there is no destructive friction created by this device. Look physics major, an airless paint sprayer traps a small amount of air in the paint before it leaves the mechanical pumping mechanism. The primary means of propulsion from this sprayer is mechanical, therefore it is called an airless paint sprayer. We have a wonderful device that will replace many devices on the market today. Come down, take it for a ride and stop the rambling somantics.
One of my concerns would be releasing the handle on long rappel. The longer the rappel, the more rope weight there is hanging below you. Also stop ruining the enviroment. Best and safest rappel device is the rappel rack no questions asked.
I do not know the exact weight because we have not completed all testing for this device . Although, we have placed 75 pounds and 100 pounds at the bottom of the rope and successfully released the handle normally. This would simulate around 1200 feet of rope. A firemans belay can be easily done by anyone pulling down with about a hundred pounds of down force. I will change your mind concerning the rappelling rack comment.Stay tuned. There is always an easier solution!
You may have a good product, but i thing you make some bougus claims. Nothing can be frictionless and all moving parts produce heat. Also i don't think this video is going to get anbody excited about your product. which seem very similar to other products like the petzl stop.
I've seen this device and you could prob put a 300lb+ load on and run 1000 ft of rope thru as fast or as slow as you like and then hold the device against your cheek... (either set) and it'd barely be warm. What J-Arms F/D has done is pretty amazing
Looks like an awesome device, no doubt... I would deffinately love to try it. Lots of good applications...But do our enviorment a favor and find something else to use for your demonstration other than motor oil. Introducing synthetics might prove a point, but will also pollute our envoirment. May not seem like much, but anything to make our land safer and cleaner will sell better than a bucket full of10w-40....
Please watch the entire video. This descender will stand the rappelling world on its ear. I rode this for the first time on my first rappel. My instructions were simple: 1. pull the handle down to go. 2. Let the handle go to stop. I went over a 70 foot drop with this 15 second block of instruction. This is the easiest device to rappel ever. We are currently in the production and testing phase and hope to introduce this device in the very near future. Please email if you would like to try it.
soooo, whats better about this then the Petzl Gri Gri? It sounds the same, pull the handle to go down, let it go to stop. and Its been around for 15 years.
This descender uses three pulleys and bearings that roll the rope through a series of rollers eliminating friction on the rope and the device. The petzel uses friction, by which the rope is pinched between two points and friction is the stopping power. With our device one can go unlimited distances at any speed without heat building on the device or the rope. Try that with a Petzel. Less friction = less wear. There is always a better alternative. Stay tuned , it gets better.
Remember this my friends: Simple is safe. If it looks complicated, there could be complications.

it is impossible to slow or stop something with out causing friction

GOOGLE "SRTE Noworries Two Way Stop"
this does the same thing but with 'panic' feature & adjustable cam.
Nice work trashing the area by throwing oil everywhere. Im sure the local climbers would love that.

I believe he said heat on the rope, if it uses a wheel like I think it does, there will be no heat on the rope just the internal system itself.
