i have a few questions...

1. since metal can't go in heat, such as a microwave and oven, how does the metal charm thing not burn?

2. is this a good hobby to persue?

3. is it hard when you first start?

@SuperCs83 Metal can go in the oven, but don't put it in the microwave. This is one of my favorite hobbies. You need to have a bit of patience, though. Honestly, there are so many simple things to make out of clay, so anyone can make something.

@CHAVEZARISTUBE You do need to bake them. Look on the back of the clay package for instructions. I usually bake it at 265 degrees fahrenheit for 30 minutes :)

@erasersarewicked Yep! It's supposed to be stronger after it's baked, actually. Most of the time Fimo is kind of hard - at least the bars I own - but once you work with the piece enough it's fine.

i got sooooo many colors of sculpey 3 and wrapped it in its wrappers and put it in a container when i was done using it, and it all dried out within 2 weeks! How do you store your clay?

@blueberry233233 I store mine in a plastic container, as well. I've had some of my clay for years and it has not dried up. Polymer clay won't dry unless you bake it. But, some bars I have are harder than others.

Actually, you can bake them in a micorwave...... all u do is take a bowl, fill it with water, put ur clay charm in, and micorwave it for 1 minute.

@ButterRainbow I have the same problem! I have premo and sculpey III and they are 15 and 30 mins and I have to mix cos I have certain colours, I usually bake for some where in the middle, like 20-25 mins maximum, it always works fine so yeah, hope I helped :)

@Milkapants10 Usually, the plastic ones are perfectly round, while the glass ones look like all different shapes and sizes. And, you should be able to tell by tapping your fingernail on the bead, as well.

@sortega323 Thank you!! =] I have a Polymer Clay for Beginners video that you can both check out if you haven't already. But, some basic tips: Wash your hands and work in a clean area to keep dust off the clay. You can bake toothpicks, metal pieces, and glass beads right in with the creation. Stay away from putting long / thin pieces on your charms - I've had many cat tails break off in the past... but, it may depend on the brand you use. Keep an eye out for $0.99 sales at the craft stores!

@ButterRainbow umm i usually use sculpey3 and fimo together but i dont follow the instructions i do 150 degrees CELSIUS but im not sure about Fahrenheit
