Why is 3:22 a fault? The ball is drive n into the net which caused the other guy to touch it. But I do agree that these rules will promote more injury for rec/intermediate players.
@dannynip Rule 11.4.4 states "making actions which hinder an opponent’s legitimate attempt to play the ball" is a fault. So when the player moved his body to position his arm to hit the ball coming into the net he has faulted. In the very next clip you see the case where the player made no movement but the ball still hit his arm and that is not a fault.
@dannynip because the player moves to put himself where the ball will be hitting the net, thus "making actions which hinder an opponent's legitimate attempt to play the ball." you can see at 3:30 there is no movement, which is why that situation is not a fault.
its only a fault if u touch the top of net near the play of the ball, like in the vid where the middle hits the net but the ball is set away, thats not a fault
Hate the new rules. One club team at one tournament would have lost. Each time they outside hits, there foot is always on our side of the court, and I'm kind of paranoid of rolling my ankles, so in my mind I'm thinking dont block to close.
anyone who thinks this is a good change will change there mind when they or one of their players gets hurt from someone coming under the net like that and them coming down on their foot, spraining the ankle or twisting their knee or worse! This is a worse rule change than the foot digs and the sloppy ass hand pass the serve!! Volleyball is losing its focus on skill!!

Excellent Video. Thanks to the creators. Really simple video for us coaches so we can have our players watch. Love the changes, I agree with hyperion. The shirt touching the net were always crappy call and have nothing to do with talented players. The rule change takes into account team or play advantage, and gets rid of the chincey calls.
At the rec level this probably is a stupid rule changes, but at the pro level it makes sense.. the game should be decided by the players(hits/blocks) not by silly bumps into the net. This is similar to not calling ticky tack fouls at the end of a basketball game... let the players decide the game and not the refs
These new rules suck balls. it takes all the fun or arguing out of the game. plus people are going to think mens volleyball is even more of an easy sport because you can do basically anything to hit the ball hard. this ruins volleyball
I think USAV NEEDS wake up. This is one of the worse rule change. Since we are going to use this dumb rule. We might just well go buy a tape and string it across, instead of the net to use for the match and save the money> This rule makes the volleyball as a recreational sport. GET RID OF THIS NON-SENSE.
Yeah, I'm not going to use these rules for my volleyball leagues. College players practice and play enough that they have enough body control to not hurt one another.
This has got to be one of the worst rule changes ever. Basically they are turning this in to back yard volleyball and there is no skill needed to be a player or an official

Question, is it still a fault if my hand touches the net as I bump the ball out from the middle of the net?
way2goyou 1 year ago
@way2goyou its not a fault if u pass the middle line and quickly move ur foot or w/e to your side again, its a fault to touch teh net whenever

@way2goyou It appears that the very last clip in this video shows it to not be a fault.
