20 Years Ago, Some people befriended me. They were linked to family networks that I believe are involved with human trafficking. You meet one group, and they are linked to many, mabe hundreds.This network seems to use social conditioning to assimilate others into their network and make people conform.
Rewards and punishments, many of which are not illegal, are utilized until people conform. All the while many of them maintain a "law abiding citizen" status and can ascend in the community.

Seems to me that the term 'trafficking' has replaced 'slavery' so as to package anti-slavery laws neatly under contraband-trafficking laws such as drug-trafficking laws. As if drugs, guns and human beings are intuitively similar objects.
U.S. Ambassador Luis CdeBaca made an important point on this in a recent speech: "I want to talk about slavery because I think 'trafficking' is a word that allows us a little bit of comfort, but this is not something we should feel comfortable about."

@iamgoddard I agree somewhat, but unfortunately sometimes the label "slavery" is limited in people's mind to labor. Example: child labor in chocolate industry has gained attention as a slavery issue, and thus fair trade chocolate promoted. That's wonderful. However, its connection to corporate sponsored child trafficking is a larger issue that then is not getting attention. That is: those in child labor are involved in child trafficking. So there are problems with both terms.

Where the transportation has occurred for the purpose of sexual activity, trafficking can include transporting videos and images via the internet and other electronic media. This is especially true in the case of child pornography.

It's so police, FBI, ICE or other agencies investigations don't get messed up. Also because if you are not trained you can mess up the chance for the victims, they could get moved, harmed or killed. In my rhetoric class at school our junior class has divided up groups focusing on different social injustices--my group has the topic of human trafficking, and I'm working on sex trafficking/forced prostitution. It really is horrific, the things people do to these young girls. I'm glad this subject is getting more and more publicity--the emancipation proclamation freed less people than are enslaved today! It's so sad.

Do Google search. You will find many examples in countries such as Iran. Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, and others. I recently read a account in Pakistan of a man marrying a 9 year old girl. And no he did not wait untill she got Older to have sex with her. In some of these countries when a child is raped. She is forced to marry the perpetrator. And in other cases the child is killed because her rape dishonored the family. Now how sick is that?

Wow, that's horrible! But the shame of being raped is here in the U.S. too (obviously not that bad). I read a book on a girl that was raped and it pretty much took everything from her. Her identity was just completely taken away and she became nothing other than a blank sheet of paper. It ruined her whole life...and that was ONE time. There are definitely "western" creeps--but this problem is global. Saying that all the customers are westerners is just...wrong. I don't know how else to put it. He said ~200,000 in the US--that's a fraction of the number total slaves, which is about 30 million world wide. Sexual slaves aren't 30mil, that's just overall slavery. But yeah, a good chunk of that IS forced prostitution.
