@BenjaminWirtz I recall an 80/90-year-old guy in the episode 'Remember Me' who was wearing the rank pips of a Lt. JG. Might be wrong about his age though. The actor was pretty old (even though he purportedly didn't feel like it).
I love this episode, so inspirational. Q's talk with Picard reminds of Kirk's speech - "Risk is our business. That's what building this starship was all about. That's why we're aboard her."
It is inspirational. But this episode treats Lt. Jr. Grade Picard as some type of loser or failed human being. In the real world, most people work dreary jobs and do tedious work. Riker even calls Lt. Picard a "very good officer", yet Captain Picard still views himself as failed as Lt. Jr. Grade.
@gothatway09 That's because Picard is Picard, this "high man" type of character who dishes out the big speeches. He regards that as "failure" because that's not what suits him/ what he wanted. I mean, the show also has, for example, O'Brien who's perfectly fine being the techie guy because he's more of a down-to-earth person. Alternate!Picard is treated as a loser here because he didn't get the thing he originally aimed for. he wouldn't have been any happier as an Admiral with a desk job.
I'm not gonna lie, it pains me to see him this way.

Back when I was a kid, TV was quality. Now days it's a bunch of garbage.

@Khyrid I would agree to that for sure and if it is a quality show it is either not American or it gets canned by some TV exctitive
