  • Fuck meangirls, MORTAL KOMBAT ALL THE WAY

  • Hack Teh Planet!!!!

  • mortal kombat

  • This song is in every movie made in the 90s I think.

  • @Whaaaaaaattt true

  • If you're gonna upload something as classic as this one, do the song some justice and upload it with a listenable quality. Otherwise, it sucks the life out of a track like this.

  • Opus III is the 'Mother' character in the video.

  • MORTAL KOMBAAAAAAT!

  • @KennethMoreland that's the hackers version, this is the original.

  • Boooo this whole thing is just "It's a fine day" by Opus III! Amazing how someone can be praised so heavily from sitting on someone else's work.

  • @AsellusPrimus Kirsty Hawkshaw preforms this song with Orbital live.

Also only the first few seconds of vocals have been sampled, the rest of the track is original.

  • @KironVB kirsty hawkshaw can perform all she wants. its a fine day was a john peel session original from someone who is not kirsty. period.

  • @AsellusPrimus thanks for overstating the obvious, fool!! Opus III did plenty of sampling themselves, and have never produced a body of work anywhere close to that of Orbital.

  • @AsellusPrimus reminder that opus iii's "its a fine day" was a cover

  • @AsellusPrimus the only thing taken from the original are the backmasked vocals, everything else is their doing, so i dont get your point at all.

  • OMG

  • cracker wee tune this

  • I'm seeing a lot of questions on this video. I'm not sure what it's about, but here's what I do know: Halcyon is a name for an anti depressant. At one point, Paul & Phil's mother was addicted to it.

My thought is this video is supposed to be representative of her life on it. When her family tries to intervene (rising out of the sink to confront her) she rejects it and beats them off. Notice how relieved she looks after he's gone. The end shows her coming down.

Then again, I could be wrong.

  • Wtf?

  • Chriswel and reaceemerson <3

This video remember me something not happened yet for me...

And remember me the Halcyon days of hackers...

    -Kiro

  • Everytime I hear this song, it brings back sad and disturbing memories of situations I've never experienced and of times I wasn't alive yet... that's what I'd call "strange".

Fascinating song and video. One of Orbital's (many, many) masterpieces.

  • She regrets killing her husband for the sake of her beloved boy, and yet still hates him for some reason. The marriage was arranged, and in a state of delirium she wishes for the "good old days" Halcyon days.

  • Itz like this song was intended for lcd users ..i mean just look at the moms she is trippin balls but overall this song is really good

  • @jaypiff888

LOL, why are the CRT monitor owners not allowed to listen/watch ?

  • this isnt Halcyon + On + On, its the 7'' Version of Halcyon

  • Woah woah, Crash and Burn!!! Hahaha.

  • The Hackers!

  • i loved the way they used this song in Mean Girls

  • mean girls.

  • OMG this WAS at the end of Mortal Kombat!! i just remembered lolz

  • No one else has mention this being in the film Mortal Kombat as well?

  • yh at teh end of ze film with raiden etc :D awesome film i can send u the whole thing if u want i got it on my pc :]

  • i don't mind the video for this although if i just wanted to listen to the song i'd listen to some of the longer verisons about great tune all the same

  • i'm gonna take you into the world of an LSD user....

  • HACK THE PLANET!

  • WHOO!! Hackers!!! HACK THE PLANET!!

  • great tune!

  • Li Li LA LA LA LA LA LA LA LI LI LALA LALLALALA!!!

  • Hackers anyone? angelina jolie's boob? OHH NOW YOU REMEMBER! lol

  • i-ih la la la la laaaa xD i love this song

  • the memories are flooding back, im going to have to go home and dig up some old videos now

  • @ImieBabe Hackers!

  • @stesch Excuss me?

What the hell is that supposed to mean??

    ¬¬

Who the hell are you to call ,me a hacker. WT actual F

  • @ImieBabe No he means, This was on a Movie called Hackers :)

  • @DarkJudger

    oh sorrrrrrryyyyyy my bad. :|

  • @ImieBabe Way b4 mean girls :D

  • Hackers and Mortal Kombat are superior movies, which also used this song.

  • @adannie Hell yeah, randomly my friend told me about the new MK coming out so for nostalgics sake i turned on the original Mortal Kombat movie and watched it and when they defeat the evil sorcerer this plays as earth celebrates, sicky!!!!

  • @ImieBabe Hackers and Mortal Kombat before that. This song is used in movies a lot, it seems. I don't think I'd have ever started listening to Orbital if it hadn't been for Mortal Kombat, actually.

  • great song. thanx for sharing

  • This is the original version not the and and on mix.

  • cky2k!

  • cky2k bitchessss

  • I love this song!

  • Ohmahagwd

    O.O

    X'''D

  • Lady is trippin balls

  • That lady is delusional O_o

  • is this the original video for this song??? and if you like this then you should check out its a fine day by opus three

  • I was wondering about that. That can't be the same sample, can it...?

  • Wikipedia:

''In its original form, the song is a melancholy tribute to the addictive sedative Halcion (Triazolam), which the Hartnoll brothers' mother reportedly used.

A closely related song is "Halcyon + on + on", a slightly more upbeat remix of the original song featuring a backmasked vocal sample by Kirsty Hawkshaw from "It's a Fine Day" by Opus III (1992) (Hawkshaw played the mother who was 'under the influence' in the video, which was shot in the Hartnolls' home). ''

  • Oh wow...That's really quite tragic :[ For them to have to film it there, in their home o.o Must've brought back some sad memories...

  • No it's not the original, it's more like a condensed remixish version.

  • original is round 10 mins long :O !

  • why is the original version so much better the remix i love the tropical sound

  • I love this video!

  • video+ tune is about hartnoll's mother who suffered from insomina and was prescribed Triazolam to fight her insomnia.this video is hartnoll's persepton of his mother, while she was on the drug. in relation to the word halcyon, peaceful tranqual and all the rest of it,if you take the 'y' out of the word and replace it with an 'i' which would spell halcion this is the brand name which Triazolam is sold under.the title 'halcyon' really means halcion, and the play on words reflects his perception.

  • this guy is good

  • thanks

  • wtf is she doing at 2:17 O_o is she high on something??

  • shes on halcyon

  • hahaha xD....what is that O_o

  • Its anti-anxiety drug used for insomnia treatment.Pouecc explains it well :)

  • nah..you explained it well ;)

  • the fun of drugs:L

  • The idea to this video is so cool!...OOOOH I love it.

    lol...shotgun wedding

    Housewives small 4 minutes Rave!

One of the best tracks of this time!

  • she's on drugs...

  • Didn´t we all stood on drug at this time?

  • good point.

  • The tune is actually based on a drug called Triazolam which the Hartnoll's mother allegedly used.

  • hu cares about fuckin image quality.. its the music u should pay attnetion too u dweeb!

  • Nice Opus 3 sample!

  • LMFAO

    LOLOL

  • Hey Selsiuss2 Music doesn't have to have comprehensible words to be good.

And this video was about how she felt and what she experienced [I'm only guessing] while on Halcion, which is a drug used back then kinda like weed, but worse. And this video's a bit old and straight from the Orbital website, and they don't have a higher quality.

    So just deal with it?

    :]

  • the image quality on this is so bad adn I can't find one of better quality. It looks like someone pointed a camera at a tv and recorded. where can I see a better quality one? also, this video makes no sense at all.

  • It does actually. You should read some things about "halcion" the pharmaceutical drug, which got pulled off the market, due to having unpredictable side-effects among other things.

  • It has nothing to do with "halcion". Halcyon means calm; peaceful; tranquil; rich; wealthy; prosperous; happy; joyful; carefree. In other words, like the saying, "Those Halcyon days."

  • Excellent! Cheers for letting me know.

I was just pretty sure I've seen some kind of documentation about something similar on TV and they featured this song with that interpretation.

  • Read the Wiki and you'll find you're wrong, friend. ;D

It's the whole point of the video. :P

  • Thank you, will do! :)

  • For me personally this version is better because it sounds more like Orbital. The longer "On + On" version is covered by a beat which reminds me a bit too much of the typical 90s 'chart hits'. This one fits perfectly to the classic video and to the band.

  • Vocal samples are from Opus III ''Its a fine day''.

  • This is called "Halcyon" only. "Halcyon+on+on" is the more upbeat version which sounds much better for me.

  • the song's good but it's too bad that it doesn't have any comprehensible words other than "Naa naa naa la la la oooh woooh

  • Selsiuss, Bach's Air on The G String doesn't have any comprehensible words either, but still I don't really think it's such a bad piece of music.

  • Orbital 4ever!

  • This isn't "Halcyon + On + On" - this is the original "Halcyon"!

    :)

  • Yep it is! Not many people noticed that...Halcyon + on + on is actually over 9 minutes long.

  • Dom Kane did a good remix of this track! not easy concidering this track is sacred!!!

  • I don't get it :|

All i know is that she was addicted to Halcion

  • Hey this is the same nightmare I had every time I droped Halcion. No wonder the FDA pulled it.

    Hot track though, I'm hooked.

  • I think the point of it is Halicon makes boring things...Interesting.

  • What a great song! it was in the soundtrack of mortal kombat

  • It`s a fine day.

  • was a great song and still remains.

  • Fun fact too, of course, is that the voice sampled belongs to Kirsty Hawkshaw, who plays the Hartnoll's mother in this clip, which was recorded in the Hartnoll's home.

  • This is the original as released on the Radiccio EP (the vocal sample is from Opus III

's 'It's Gonna Be A Fine Day' which was sampled backwards to produce the killer effect on this tune).

    Quite superb.

  • Brilliant bands make brilliant songs.

  • I guess this is the original, named "Halycon" released in 1992.

There is a 10-minute track, the remixed one, released in 1993 on Orbital's second album, under the name " Halycon + On + On".

Try the remix on youtube. Imo its even better.

If u cant find it check my page.

  • i`ve heard this song&seen this video milion times and i still can`t get enough of it

  • i've been trying to find this song for agesss cos i heard it on mean girls and fell in love with it!

  • Mean Girls Soundtrack too!

  • Im in love with this song sooo amazing and relazing

  • i'm trying to find this song on myspace music, but they either dont have it, or im a bad searcher. any help?? appreciate it! :)

  • lol Ok...a little part of this song is at the end of the movie "Mean Girls" lol! I Kno that was random, but I just noticed That....lol

  • yeah and after it's the song dancing with myself by the donnas :]

  • best Track ever!!!!,unvergessen Orbital Live im E-Werk 1994 in Berlin -(Snivilisation Tour)

  • I luv this song too, escpecially the original, it's like 10 minutes long and definetely worth it!!!!!

  • It´s a fine day...yad enif a s`tI

  • This is where electronic music greatness started and it has been downhill ever since.

  • downhill ? ever heard of a group called Sa-Ra or maybe Spacek ??

  • Spacek? Nowhere near my cup of tea and COMPLETELY incomparable to Orbital.

  • omg great 4 song

  • great tune greeeaaate!!!

  • Halcyon-triasolam

  • I Looovve this song

  • Saw this on MTV in the early 90s and then got into orbital

This is the origial version - got it as a single at Select-a-disc Berwick Street!

  • that is b/c it is a diffrent ersion of the song

  • I remember seeing this video on M2 a long, long time ago...

  • I just learned that the housewife is played by Kirsty Hawkshaw herself. She who also provides the "dee da da da"- samples (from the Opus III song "it's a fine day"). But probably you all knew all that already...

  • nerd! lol

  • Always dug this track, still diggin it now.

  • I love it..I love it..I love it :) xx
