I have time for sports. I'm angry at myself and idk why. The bible says well shine like stars of the universe. But there's too many other stars around. Everyone is firmly convinced my Jesus is real, my jesus is plastic.
@Jesusfreak043 I think to an extent everyone's Jesus is plastic. we can't all rely on him, we can't trust anyone but ourselves. But God is good, he is forgiving. he is saying try your hardest to preach him, he says to be shining stars, for him. life may seem full of feelings, but the truth is people who dwell in their feelings are people who care about themselves. When you take action for God, He is delighted. and maybe sports is the thing God gifted you with and should glorify Him through it.
@Jesusfreak043 Why be mad at yourself, there is a better thing to center your thoughts on. help others, as a 12 year old at a Christian Private school. (king's way christian school) I have learned that you should help others, even though I, as you do, have people claiming to be Christians at school, but to them it's a religion not a relationship. our job here is to set an example, God will use you for his will. the biggest lesson i learned is that doing as God wants you to is the most you can do
@iamnotanixie. Hmm. Idk. I need help. I'm a teenager, I go to a private Christian school. I'm well behaved. I don't get trouble with any teacher. But it's not a school full of Christians. It's full of insecure people. Who like the idea of eternal life. They aren't Christian. Dirty jokes are the least of their crimes. One of my friends was recently baptized. I see he's Christian. I feel like an empty shell. Everyone thinks I'm the perfect
Little religious boy. I get A's in every subject and h
@Jesusfreak043 The problem is that religious people ( ie muslim, hindu, Mormon, some catholics and protestants) already think they are are good and deny original sin.
The bible states all have sinned = Mohammed, Richard Dawkins, Brad Pitt, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad = all dead men walking. Trying to be a good atheist, a good muslim, or a good christian religious boy is like trying to be a good criminal.
Jesus did not die to make bad people good but to make dead men live.
Hmm good video but lets not forget about Romans 4:5-6 But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness, just as David also speaks of the blessing on the man to whom God credits righteousness APART from WORKS: (caps added for emphasis)
I don't believe ignorance to be sin. If a person has never heard the name, Jesus, therefore never choosing to reject God, I doubt God will damn them to an eternity of torture. I think God is just, but understanding. I am not saying this Applies to everyone. But a 14yr old who dies of hunger in a 3rd world country. They died fighting to just live. If anything it is our fault as Christians for not reaching them.
I like this video. It generates more questions then it does answers. Like... is there salvation for the person who does great stuff for people like helps someone but doesn't have a relationship with Christ? Or the videos' comment on religion. What is the definition of work? If work is something you do, then must you do something to have faith, to gain faith, or to believe, or to trust in God or to build a relationship? Therefore isn't "developing faith" = work? You do the math? My head hurts.
@emdelacruz23 if someone does good works but has no relationship with Christ, they are not saved. it doesnt matter how many good things you do because you still have sin and you cannot bribe God with your good works, he still sees the sin therefore you are guilty. thats why you need Jesus to be your advocate, your intercessor, your lawyer. when you accept Jesus, he covers your sin and washes them away. now you are innocent in God's sight.
@monicacristina319 what about the gospel starting from Matt 25:31? Where it speaks about the coming of Christ and those you do to among Christ's brothers you do on to Christ. So even if you do good to anyone of these not to be seen as a bribe but because it's right and just, you're still considered sinful? I guess we all are in some way or another but doesn't God also see how the good in our lives too? It raises the question, what about people before the time of Jesus? Did they know Christ?
@emdelacruz23 Well that would be true, you can't exclude the sin done to others, even the sins done within your heart, such as the verse Matthew 5:28 "But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart." God will count against you. And before Christ there was an old way of sacrificing animals without blemish for your sins. Read up on Leviticus about that as I'm running out of space.
@GeromPackii So we can agree that a lot of sins in life are HEART issues. And thanks to Jesus, the Levitical laws will not haunt me and I am not enslaved to any of those writings. Are these laws good for wholesome living? Perhaps so. Will God use these to judge people? I believe the answer is No. God will judge us based upon the choice we have made for accepting Jesus as our Savior.
@emdelacruz23 He (Jesus) went and proclaimed God's salvation to earlier generations who ended up in the prison of judgment because they wouldn't listen. -1Pet 3:19-20 (MSG) :)
@bendyamin86 I am supporting the equation. Did you read the verse? God is going to test our works and reward us. Even if our works do not pass the test we are still saved because of our faith in Jesus. Jesus is our foundation and we build our lives(not our salvation) on Him.
I recommend that all Protestants to go and read the writings of the Early Church Fathers' on issues such Justification, Real Presence, Spiritual vs Church with a structure, Apostolic Succession, Bible Alone/Sola Scriptura etc. it's a very fruitful experience if your heart is open.
god is awesome. He keeps salvation complicated so only the smart people (like me and the people who made this video) will make it to heaven.. and the dummies will not make it! So mathematically there won't be a lot of blacks in heaven. Amen
@Yohanan43 Why do you take offense to someone who probably only knows English and posting this. If he knew another language he might post it in that language. Don't take offense so easily. The fact that this is a top comment right now is just childish.
@crzyfanatic123 by my understanding, repentance is realizing one's sins, asking for forgiveness and most important of all is turning away from it and then towards God. i believe repentance should lead to a strong faith
I dont understand why the second time he did the minus thing at 2:48 he accepted it as legitimate? Isn't that the same thing James 2:17 says is not correct? In any case we are saved by grace and by faith working through love.
I can't stand it when Christians go on Atheist videos and argue against them. I can't stand it when Atheists go on Christian videos and argue against them. It shows insecurity from both sides.
@IgniterMedia You can't separate them like this. It's not Faith or Works as two separate entities, but two sides to the same coin. We are saved by Grace alone, grace which gives us the ability to have the Faith to obey God's commands through Works - the obedience of faith (Rom 1). God gives us the ability to choose, our choice of God is a work of faith powered by His Grace.
Can you show me faith without works? It is impossible to do so...think about it.
This is a great short video for helping people discover whether they're actually trusting in their works for their salvation or their faith! I really like the ending which clearly shows how faith in Christ results in action that bears and shows fruit. An awesome little video, especially for helping people evaluate the status of their salvation in a very non-confrontational way! Way to go, IgniterMedia. Keep this stuff coming.
In Romans 4 the bible says justification is without works, in James 2 the bible says that justification is with works, how is this possible? (context determines meaning)
In Romans, Paul is showing that justification is possible without works of the law in which one could boast, these are meritorious works, however in James, James is speaking about works of obedience, that is, hearing the word and doing it, 2 definitions of works, once you get this, it's all easier than math 101 here.
So then one cannot say baptism is a meritorious work because it has been commanded by God, rather it is a work of obedience. Naaman was told to dip 7 times in the Jordan, the Israelites were told to march around Jericho for 7 days, Noah was told to build an ark, merely believing never saved anyone, it has always been by faithful obedience to what God said in connection to their obedience that saves, We are commanded to be baptized (Matt. 28:18-20, Mk. 16:15-16, Acts 2:38, Rom. 6:3-4, Gal.3:27)
its true faith without works is dead, but any work we can do in the flesh by our own effort is defiled. Jesus working through us is the only good works that there will be, so that the only glory that we have is in Him.
When it says to have faith in Jesus I believe it means faith as a verb of doing, walking in faith (living in faith) Faith that you are free from sin through Jesus so you do your best in faith in Jesus to live right (acts, words, thoughts) and as well as true faith will make you want to know Him the one who died for us. We do not have the height to touch salvation cause our righteousness are rags menstrual filthy but Jesus he is above sin and through him we are free'd from our old selves
@Billete37 and with this freedom from our selves and the demons and principalities of the world we live righteously (although we are not perfect) but we ask for forgiveness (and we are forgiven just as we forgive others) and repent (doing our God given best to stray from sin). When Jesus said cut off a hand he meant to cut your self from that of which encourages and causes us to sin whether in thought, words, or speech. Cause how can the same life style that keeps you from the Father...
@Billete37 get you to the Father? We have to be dead from our old selves we can not keep the same minds that keep us from God to get us to God its only through the power of the Holy Spirit that we might be changed through Jesus. I pray The Father sees no fault in my words in Jesus name. Also I would like to say that a truly reborn person (Christian) in Christ Jesus would want to live for God and be freed from sin so there life style (works) would reflect that and they would spread the gospel....
@Billete37 cause they truly love the Father then Son first before all things. But don't get me wrong it will be tough and take a while but world over comers will be rewarded for over coming this world through Jesus (the only true way to God and salvation). Just keep praying, ask for forgiveness (for you and others) and walk in faith even through the worst and help others as well in faith walk. Through Jesus ALL is possible AMEN!! Give God & Jesus all your heart and soul. And do in love...
@Billete37 for each other (Sinners, Saints, Family, Friends, Strangers, Gays, Nonbelievers & Enemies alike). Educate your selves people read your word do your research and test through the Holy Spirit to see the Truth for it will guide you into all Truth and protect you with the authority of the Lord Jesus himself. AMEN and GOD bless ALL yah in Jesus name.
I don't agree sry.. Yes we are saved through Faith Alone, but faith doesn't produce works. Titus 2 :11-13 Grace does, Grace is the enabling ability that one can do things as God ask. God gives the Grace to accomplish the task, then rewords us for using the grace He first gave us!
Sometimes we make it too much about Faith. Faith is the channel that which Grace flows through. We ought to focus on the mass amounts of living water there is, His Grace.

It's incomplete illustration: He must not stop with Eph. 2: 8-9 but conclude in verse 10. Cynical equation will illustrate it better than using Linear equation. Ex: Good works is the result of faith and salvation which is also the result of faith. Or true faith confirmed by good works equals salvation. Therefore, True faith + salvation = good works. That's why we are told to "work-out" our salvation; not to "work for" our salvation. Meaning, since you are saved, act like one.

...salvation...saved....? It all seems so... self centered. There are many people who make it a point to be morally good to others and themselves without seeking a supernatural reward. They strive to be good to... be good... to make life more pleasant or comfortable for others and also themselves.
The solipsistic religious tinkering as displayed in this clip, is very unattractive -regardless of the sublime animation.
OK... you got me.! I fell for it. Good parody, I must admit. Looked very much like the real bullshit one comes across amongst the faithful. Or is it visa versa? Religious people often portray themselves as laughable? Without shame too...
The quality animation could have given it away... well done!
@studioROT Also studio, religion is man-made and says that you have to do this many things at this time to be this. When you really love Jesus, it makes you love others and to be honest, religion makes you only care about yourself. And here is the sad problem: people have taken Jesus and made Him into a religion. They claim to be Jesus-followers but use religion to further their own ends.
@dieKoninginderNacht, I accept it as a probability, that Jesus was a young jewish vagrant who was tortured and killed two millennia ago by the Roman authorities.
I am aware of the religious doctrinal claim of Salvation as a result of the highly improbable and religious notion that he somehow, survived his own death.
Without religious believe in the equally improbable proposition of eternal life, I fail to see how the concept of Salvation is significant.
@studioROT Faith and religion are actually two different things. Religion is a way to live your life. Faith is believing in something whether that thing is a pilot, a stop light or God. Religion is a list of do's and don'ts.
How is a love for Jesus relevant? Well, when you love Jesus and realize that He died not just for you but for everyone- you come to see that He cares for each person. And when you love Him you can't see anybody as unimportant anymore. Each person is special.
@studioROT The truth is evident by faith. I know the Lord Jesus, and I know the life He had given me. It is improbable that the universe is a pointless wandering machine. It is fact that Jesus is life. He himself said "I am the Way, The Truth, and The Life". He says that to you. "He that believes in me, though He were dead, yet would He live". He really cares. Nobody else can give you spiritual life. It is improbable that living life without hope of something greater is fulfilling or worth it.
@studioROT We as people seem to have a way of messing things up. Doing things wrong. Hurting people. The Bible says: All have sinned. That includes me. All sin is offensive, and disqualifies us from perfection. Mistakes. Jesus is going to make His people perfect. We are free from the power of sin. We sometimes choose to sin, but we no longer are enslaved to sin. Jesus Really wants to do something great for you. He wants to show you the way, the truth and the life- Himself. He changed me.
@studioROT I was having serious issues that I could not make myself stop. I tried, but I could not stop doing really wicked things. I didn't want people to know. I no longer enjoyed my sin, or had any satisfaction at all. Emptiness. Then I turned to Jesus. He destroyed the sin. He freed me from what I could not escape. He forgave it completely. He made me a new person. When He died, people mocked Him and said "He saved others, why can't He save Himself? He was saving others when He died.
@studioROT Really you must choose who to believe. Do you believe in your own goodness? I don't believe in mine. Do you believe what men say to you, or do you believe what you can feel God is saying to you? Jesus' body was wrapped in a cloth, and put in the grave (I happened to read this today) and the authorities remembered that He had said he would arise from the dead, so they blocked and guarded the tomb, so His body would not be taken away. Three days later,
@studioROT And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead [men]. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord
@dieKoninginderNacht, actually.. you know, reading back this tread and being confronted with suggestions of internal holes, a mysterious guilt, salvation through the sacrifice of a human life 'out of love' and a continuous underlying hint towards a supernatural source, I find this all very alien and not at all coherent with my experience of what life is, and with the goodness us humans have to offer to each other and the World. Faith (as you put it) presents a very negative view to me. Sorry!
@studioROT I'm sorry it seems negative to you. To me, it is the opposite. I see life positively and each person is remarkable. To me, it puts more importance on others. And yes, it does seem alien at first. But when it is looked at from a different perspective, it can make a lot of sense. :)
@studioROT If you are unwilling to accept the Lord, and love the One God sent, I don't know who can help you. He still wants you to consider what He says. You have an opportunity today. A decision. You need Jesus. Like I need Him. I am no better than you. Things don't stay the same. He is unchanging. I bet a lot has changed for you since you posted this two months ago. Are things better, have you been able to do good? The answer is no, unless you accepted Jesus. God is reaching out to you.
@iandlepiano, please read my comments on this page in chronological order and consider those my reply to you.
Further; quoting to me from the Bible is pointless; I am biblically literate. You have nothing new to offer.
Your assumptions about imagined changes in my life are grossly pathetic and undignified. Is this shameless behaviour a product of what your religion allows you to display? I know many christians, several are close friends; they have more dignity than you. Can you not behave?
@studioROT I believe I read all of them. I don't see them as a reply to what I said to them, but I do take it you reject what God is giving you the opportunity for. I admit and apologize that I figured your physical life quality decayed, God just showed me that your time on earth can be great, but that you will leave the world empty. This is not something I want for you. Neither is it want God wants. I hope that this forum being public is not keeping you from further personal consideration.
It seems however, that you misunderstand my position; I do not have a believe in the existence of a god, gods or God. Hence, your insistence that God has something to offer to me is pointless and I reject your proposition on that basis.
Your attempts to connect to my personal life are intrusive, offensively judgmental and astonishingly arrogant. If you have indeed read my initial comments, you must realise by now that you are adding insult to injury...
@studioROT Salvation isn't something you've got to do to get a reward or a great afterlife. Salvation is a gift that no one can work for or be "good enough". I can be perfect (or pretend to be) for the rest of my life but does that mean that my entire life was perfect? No. So I can't attain perfection. What Jesus did as a "saving grace" was give it to me freely. And it can be given to anyone who wants it- not just those who live a morally correct life.
@dieKoninginderNacht, the idea of perfection is a naive one, I agree with you. However, is it not the beauty of human intellect that we can try? Socrates, Plato, Confusius, Kierkegaard and even Spinoza were not perfect, but without them we would not have a modern moral code. And how is their personal imperfection relevant? How is my imperfection relevant?
Also; if not religious, how is a love for Jesus relevant?
@dieKoninginderNacht, I will not argue the semantics regarding faith and religion and respect your views on that. However, the fact that the Christian proposition is based on a supernatural concept, makes it deeply improbable. Also, I can not, with any dignity, justify to believe that a human sacrifice has a shred of value in my advantage. In fact, I consider it an immoral act to glorify the occasion and see no beauty in it. Neither can I appreciate the self-inflicting nature of Jesus' torture.
@studioROT Human sacrifice is indeed wrong but there is something missing that I would like you to see. Imagine you are in court for a crime and there is no mistake that you are guilty. You are about to be taken away to jail and from there to prison to take your punishment. But someone comes from the back of the room and asks to take your place. They are innocent but because they care about you they get taken away instead and you go free. That's what Jesus did. It wasn't for beauty but for love.
@dieKoninginderNacht , virtuous justice is less about guilt than it is about responsibility. Would you invite an acknowledged pedophile rapist to babysit your children because his conviction was served in jail by a philanthropic substitute? His guilt might be payed for, but the responsibility for his deeds remains. Our actions carry weight, but I deny any guilt for anything I am not responsible for, and I reject Jesus' sacrifice as immoral, invalid and not of any value in the realm of reality.
@studioROT Alright, for a second believe that there is a God. He created you with more purpose than your parents did. But because of some choices you've made you two are forever separated. To change that, God sends someone to erase your past. Just because your past is gone in God's eyes doesn't mean that you don't deal with the consequences. That there isn't a punishment for whatever was done. A pedophile might have God's justice taken care of but that doesn't mean that he gets off scott free.
@studioROT There are so many rejecting God. Rejecting Hope. Rejecting a new life through Him. You don't have to be one of those people. You really don't have to.
But it is your choice. Thank you for stating what you think, instead of being closed to communication about the truth.
@studioROT Jesus was a man, but He was also God. He was perfect, flawless, sinless, and mistake-less. His death was completely undeserved and only for us. He did not need to ever die, accept for us.
@studioROT Everyone has this hole inside of them somewhere. There is always that whisper in the core of our being that cries, "There must be something more! What is the point of this life?" How do we know that something is missing? How do we know that there is supposed to be a reason for our existence?
If we were not created for something specific then why are we driven for a purpose? What makes life so special? If we are random chance then there would be no reason why we think murder is wrong.
@dieKoninginderNacht , I strongly disagree with the idea that we all would have a hole inside. Firstly, we are all very fortunate to have made it into the whom in the first place (chance of one in several hundred million). The point of life, I think, is to propagate our DNA. I see murder as wrong by way of philosophy (moral code), combined with an innate natural drive (piranhas do not not devour each other because they follow a doctrine). And life IS indeed fantastically special and precious!
@studioROT How do we know that life is precious? How do piranhas, us and other creatures know this if we are a shot in the dark? Where can moral codes come from if not from another source? You said you got your morals from past thinkers, correct? How could they decide one day that taking something from someone else is wrong? How do we learn that we shouldn't hit others for not agreeing with us? Our parents. A higher source. Would it be impossible that our moral code come from one higher source?
@dieKoninginderNacht, To be, see, learn, share, love, be loved, create, add, invent and think for a few years is extremely precious.
Anyhow, I could argue that, rather than being a shot in the dark, we survived because.. we did not kill each other (evolution). Or, I could argue for rational philosophy versus religious dogma. I can even agree that human-made moral code is precarious. But ultimately, you and I differ in our (dis-)belief in God and Original Sin. Perhaps we should agree to differ.
@studioROT I do not mind agreeing to disagree. But I ask that you do not think that I have taken some religious dogma as my own. The reasons I have chosen Jesus were the result of much study and surprising experiences. This decision wasn't made lightly due to all the animosity against Jesus and the idea of God (even in my own family). But all my research and things I have witnessed left me with the realization that God was real. The only question was, would I continue after God or go my own way?
@dieKoninginderNacht , I do not doubt that you have genuine reasons for your belief and respect your views. As for the dogma issue, I will take your word for it. As I said before, it might be a matter of semantics, but I sure do understand that you do not follow a worn-out religious system. All I can say about that is: good for you...!
@studioROT I'm not offended or upset that you don't see what I see or agree with me. I am glad though that I was able to have this discussion with you. You have a unique view and it is an honor to have met you. Have a great life!
@studioROT religion is just that, trying to do good and make good. The truth is every time we try to do what we think is good, we are limited, and enslaved to doing the selfish. Have you done good? Have you given your life completely to and for others? Are you perfect? This is what Jesus wants to do through His people, and He does. Jesus is not a religion. Jesus is someone who loves more than anyone else can. He gave His life for me, you, and the world. If you believe Him, He puts to death sin.
@JullenaBurcham, It is not a matter of convincing oneself that a god does not exist, it is a matter of not being convinced by the improbable proposition that it DOES exists.
Surely, you do not believe in the existence of a rival god to your specific personal religion? You do not have to convince yourself that that god does not exist? If I claim the existence of leprechauns, you do not have to convince yourself that they do not exist? Instead... you take the default position... skepticism..!
@studioROT Without evidence to disprove something there is a large amount of convincing that DOES take place. Leprechauns aren't the best example but the only evidence of them is a lack of evidence that says they do not exist. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. So wether or not you beleive, you have convinced yourself either way.
@JullenaBurcham, indeed... and that's where the concept of probability comes into the equation...
A helpful method of reasoning in these matters is the application of the principle of parsimony, sometimes expressed as Occam's Razor.
You will never be able to provide evidence against the very reasonable claim (I live in Ireland) that I have leprechauns in my garden... but do you think it is probable? Is it probable that I am the reincarnation of Napoleon? Can you demonstrate prove against it..?
@studioROT Probability and stastics is illogical outside of economic matters. It's probable that you won't get struck by lightning tomorrow... ok but tell that to the guy who does. So the probability of said things existing, one can never be sure thus follows the convincing.
@JullenaBurcham , lightning is an observable and measurable phenomenon. One could even provoke a direct hit. It occurs within the natural order. The probability that it CAN happen is relatively high. The probability that it will strike me tomorrow, is not so very high (but it could).
Gods (and leprechauns) do not qualify for that category. Their existence would demand suspension of the natural order. The claim of their existence is therefor an extraordinary one. It makes them very improbable.
@JullenaBurcham,...reading over our dialogue, it occurs to me that we might have different understandings of the word 'convincing'.
I do not have a believe in gods; I am not convinced. But I am very open to testable, empirical evidence that would convince me. So far, that has not been the case (the video above is a good example of a disappointing attempt to that).
I find that faithful people often lack the will to critically examine their convictions. But perhaps you are not one of them...
@studioROT My faith is of the most genuine and is in responce to what is felt in my conscience so you are correct. With the faith I have I will always think everybody has to convince themselves of the non existance of a Diety. I believe that deep in the subconcsience there is a longing for reasoning in this world. Since there is no "measurable evidence" for the existance of God one deducts (convinces themselves) that there is no God.
@JullenaBurcham "My faith is of the most genuine" So you blindly follow something genuinely. Mindlessness at its best.
"I will always think everybody has to convince themselves of the non existance of a Diety" First, what makes it your deity? Out of hundreds of pantheons and mythos, why is it only the specific one?
Second, you are actually wrong in your "thought". Do you need to convince yourself that elves don't exist? Pixies? Unicorns? One-eyed one-horned flying purple people eaters.
And then, you fail to take into account that while you condemn thinking "nonexistence" because "everybody has to convince themselves", you yourself are convincing yourself, and not even following simple logic in your attempt to do so.
And then you fail to define "God", which then leaves some vague idea that has the property that each concrete aspect attributed to it goes against the reality you must accept it made if it existed.
@JullenaBurcham [You're examples fall under the same criteria of the "leperchauns."] And they fall under the same criteria as "God". You fail to answer the question presented, yet expect mindless and unthinking slaves.
"We all convince ourselves, deist included." Your use of "convince" where you mean "believe" is actually quite fallacious. Also, it's not "convincing oneself" to take the null hypothesis and have a general lack of belief/conviction UNTIL EVIDENCE IS PRESENTED OTHERWISE.
@JullenaBurcham "You can call it whatever you want." Actually this is fallacious as each word is different.
To believe is to simply hold as true. To convince is to formalize an argument and consequently use reason [which you must admit that either God gave to you to use or the ability developed naturally due to advantages it allowed and hence the use of it is intrinsically beneficial] to support the proposition as true.
Either way, both your argument and your word-use are fallacious.
Am impressed with the graphics... well done people. The time and patience needed to complete this clip is a testimony not only to your works but also to your faith in seeing the finished product before it was realized... And hey its fun looking at your stuff :-)
YOU CAN NEVER "WORK" YOUR WAY INTO HEAVEN PERIOD. I AM NICE TO PEOPLE BECAUSE I ASKED JESUS TO COME INTO MY HEART AND TO CHANGE ME AND TO SAVED ME....... BECAUSE I AM A SINNER STILL TODAY. YOU ARE ALWAYS SINNING IN SOME FORM. THE BIBLE SAYS THAT ARE BEST DEEDS ARE LIKE RAGES TO HIM.
Like my Dad always says, "You don't bark, eat kibble and chase cats to become a dog - you do that because you ARE one." You don't do good works to BECOME a saved Christian; you do them because you ARE one, plain and simple.
@2ceBorn Yes, I agree. There is a doctrine saying that you must repent from your sin before you can accept Jesus' payment for it. Which makes little sense. The way to repent is to accept Jesus. I was just watching for a false teaching. (:
@iandlepiano I personally think God works on a soul with His grace. When we respond to that working, He, in His grace alone, enables us to repent(admit we are sinners and that He alone can save us) and believe(that He died and already paid for our sin). I believe repentance and faith are simultaneous. As far as accepting Jesus, I'm not really sure what that means.
@2ceBorn I agree with you. I use the term "accept Jesus" meaning that you accept Jesus as your savior, by believing Him. Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Praise the Lord. What He has done is wonderful!
@2ceBorn Repentance is turning from what you are doing and doing something different, It is like doing a 180 degree turn. If you are having sex outside of marriage and you repent then that means you stop having that sex, if you are doing drugs and you repent, it is more than saying you are sorry to God, it is turning from that way and going in another direction.
If so, then does the faith I have, like my girlfriend not cheating on me or my faith to my parents or Buddhism, Islam or faith in Christ = Salvation - work? From the context I am left to assume you are talking about Faith in Christ work as you quote the Bible verses. It is best for most viewer interest that you be more precise. Btw I love this video clip
I never implied demons would be saved lol, but I guess thats how there is confusion in the first place. People all see something different than what is intended. Oh well, I tried. hey just make Christ your number one and you will be fine.
First, you're confusing works with merit. Works do not "merit" salvation. You also imply that the demons will be saved! They believe as James writes in the very same book you quoted. If you had actually researched the matter, you'd realize that Biblical faith is not merely mental assent. A better equation would be IF faith THEN obedience THEN salvation! This whole Western idea of separating faith from works is false (which is why the Apostles had to explain it as they did to the Greeks).
don't fool yourself. don't fall in to this virus that has affected the church today.. I'm not talking about doing good deeds to earn salvation here. I am talking about those who think they are with God but are really of the world. you can not live in sin if you live in sin you don't have faith. You are lying to youself and cheating yourself. people need to stop thinking Christ preached a lazy attitude. Read what he said he is extreme. You must love him above all your famlies and the world
Make Christ not your first priority but your only priority and you will be fine. If you love him you will love others, because to love him is to keep his commandments, and to love others is his commandment.
A person should not be focused on their deeds so much as focused on Christ above all else. Focus on God and the deeds will follow. why compare yourselves with others? we all fall short of Christ and that is why we are hell bound without him. you can't weigh your salvation by how much you don't sin compared to your friend, or what more good you do than him.
the wages of sin is death. We have all sinned and owe death as payment. God would have destroyed us because we are evil apart from him. but because Christ earned our payments for our sin debt with his death we are now able to make our debt payment when we see the lord, if we receive Christs payment that he earned with his death. doing good deeds does not pay the debt of sin. Good deeds and abstinence from sin is a by product of maintaining Christs payment in your heart. Proof its in U.
But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
"If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."
Christs payment provided by grace will manifest "interest" or "good works" simply maintain your hearts with the payment he provided with his sacrifice. You can love him or the world but not both. If you slip and sin repent. Only with repentance comes forgiveness and at the end God will be the judge if you accepted Christ payment for your debts of sin.
"No servant can SERVE two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon"
"Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him."
"He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him."
"Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."
"But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended. He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful."
I wish my Math teacher would show this problem to the class.

Jesusfreak043 1 month ago

My head hurts.
emdelacruz23 3 months ago
@emdelacruz23 if someone does good works but has no relationship with Christ, they are not saved. it doesnt matter how many good things you do because you still have sin and you cannot bribe God with your good works, he still sees the sin therefore you are guilty. thats why you need Jesus to be your advocate, your intercessor, your lawyer. when you accept Jesus, he covers your sin and washes them away. now you are innocent in God's sight.
monicacristina319 3 months ago
@monicacristina319 what about the gospel starting from Matt 25:31? Where it speaks about the coming of Christ and those you do to among Christ's brothers you do on to Christ. So even if you do good to anyone of these not to be seen as a bribe but because it's right and just, you're still considered sinful? I guess we all are in some way or another but doesn't God also see how the good in our lives too? It raises the question, what about people before the time of Jesus? Did they know Christ?
emdelacruz23 3 months ago
@emdelacruz23 Well that would be true, you can't exclude the sin done to others, even the sins done within your heart, such as the verse Matthew 5:28 "But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart." God will count against you. And before Christ there was an old way of sacrificing animals without blemish for your sins. Read up on Leviticus about that as I'm running out of space.
GeromPackii 2 months ago
@GeromPackii So we can agree that a lot of sins in life are HEART issues. And thanks to Jesus, the Levitical laws will not haunt me and I am not enslaved to any of those writings. Are these laws good for wholesome living? Perhaps so. Will God use these to judge people? I believe the answer is No. God will judge us based upon the choice we have made for accepting Jesus as our Savior.

brokeman327 1 year ago
@IgniterMedia You can't separate them like this. It's not Faith or Works as two separate entities, but two sides to the same coin. We are saved by Grace alone, grace which gives us the ability to have the Faith to obey God's commands through Works - the obedience of faith (Rom 1). God gives us the ability to choose, our choice of God is a work of faith powered by His Grace.
Can you show me faith without works? It is impossible to do so...think about it.

This is a great short video for helping people discover whether they're actually trusting in their works for their salvation or their faith! In Romans 4 the bible says justification is without works, in James 2 the bible says that justification is with works, how is this possible? (context determines meaning)
In Romans, Paul is showing that justification is possible without works of the law in which one could boast, these are meritorious works, however in James, James is speaking about works of obedience, that is, hearing the word and doing it, 2 definitions of works, once you get this, it's all easier than math 101 here.
fafegus 1 year ago
So then one cannot say baptism is a meritorious work because it has been commanded by God, rather it is a work of obedience. Naaman was told to dip 7 times in the Jordan, the Israelites were told to march around Jericho for 7 days, Noah was told to build an ark, merely believing never saved anyone, it has always been by faithful obedience to what God said in connection to their obedience that saves, We are commanded to be baptized (Matt. 28:18-20, Mk. 16:15-16, Acts 2:38, Rom. 6:3-4, Gal.3:27)
fafegus 1 year ago
its true faith without works is dead, but any work we can do in the flesh by our own effort is defiled. Jesus working through us is the only good works that there will be, so that the only glory that we have is in Him.
iandlepiano 1 year ago
When it says to have faith in Jesus I believe it means faith as a verb of doing, walking in faith (living in faith) Faith that you are free from sin through Jesus so you do your best in faith in Jesus to live right (acts, words, thoughts) and as well as true faith will make you want to know Him the one who died for us. We do not have the height to touch salvation cause our righteousness are rags menstrual filthy but Jesus he is above sin and through him we are free'd from our old selves
Billete37 1 year ago
@Billete37 and with this freedom from our selves and the demons and principalities of the world we live righteously (although we are not perfect) but we ask for forgiveness (and we are forgiven just as we forgive others) and repent (doing our God given best to stray from sin). When Jesus said cut off a hand he meant to cut your self from that of which encourages and causes us to sin whether in thought, words, or speech. Cause how can the same life style that keeps you from the Father...
Billete37 1 year ago

They claim to be Jesus-followers but use religion to further their own ends.
dieKoninginderNacht 1 year ago
@dieKoninginderNacht, I accept it as a probability, that Jesus was a young jewish vagrant who was tortured and killed two millennia ago by the Roman authorities.
I am aware of the religious doctrinal claim of Salvation as a result of the highly improbable and religious notion that he somehow, survived his own death.
Without religious believe in the equally improbable proposition of eternal life, I fail to see how the concept of Salvation is significant.
studioROT 1 year ago
@studioROT Faith and religion are actually two different things. Religion is a way to live your life. Faith is believing in something whether that thing is a pilot, a stop light or God. Religion is a list of do's and don'ts.
How is a love for Jesus relevant? Well, when you love Jesus and realize that He died not just for you but for everyone- you come to see that He cares for each person. And when you love Him you can't see anybody as unimportant anymore. Each person is special.
dieKoninginderNacht 1 year ago

@dieKoninginderNacht, actually.. you know, reading back this tread and being confronted with suggestions of internal holes, a mysterious guilt, salvation through the sacrifice of a human life 'out of love' and a continuous underlying hint towards a supernatural source, I find this all very alien and not at all coherent with my experience of what life is, and with the goodness us humans have to offer to each other and the World. Faith (as you put it) presents a very negative view to me. Sorry!
studioROT 1 year ago
@studioROT I'm sorry it seems negative to you. To me, it is the opposite. I see life positively and each person is remarkable. To me, it puts more importance on others. And yes, it does seem alien at first. But when it is looked at from a different perspective, it can make a lot of sense. :)
dieKoninginderNacht 1 year ago

Can you not behave?
studioROT 1 year ago
@studioROT I believe I read all of them. I don't see them as a reply to what I said to them, but I do take it you reject what God is giving you the opportunity for. I admit and apologize that I figured your physical life quality decayed, God just showed me that your time on earth can be great, but that you will leave the world empty. This is not something I want for you. Neither is it want God wants. I hope that this forum being public is not keeping you from further personal consideration.
iandlepiano 1 year ago
@iandlepiano, I accept your apology.
If you have indeed read my initial comments, you must realise by now that you are adding insult to injury...
studioROT 1 year ago
@studioROT Salvation isn't something you've got to do to get a reward or a great afterlife. Salvation is a gift that no one can work for or be "good enough". I can be perfect (or pretend to be) for the rest of my life but does that mean that my entire life was perfect? No. So I can't attain perfection. What Jesus did as a "saving grace" was give it to me freely. And it can be given to anyone who wants it- not just those who live a morally correct life.
dieKoninginderNacht 1 year ago

Neither can I appreciate the self-inflicting nature of Jesus' torture.
studioROT 1 year ago
@studioROT Human sacrifice is indeed wrong but there is something missing that I would like you to see. Imagine you are in court for a crime and there is no mistake that you are guilty. You are about to be taken away to jail and from there to prison to take your punishment. But someone comes from the back of the room and asks to take your place. They are innocent but because they care about you they get taken away instead and you go free. That's what Jesus did. It wasn't for beauty but for love.
dieKoninginderNacht 1 year ago

A pedophile might have God's justice taken care of but that doesn't mean that he gets off scott free.
dieKoninginderNacht 1 year ago
@studioROT There are so many rejecting God. Rejecting Hope. Rejecting a new life through Him. You don't have to be one of those people. You really don't have to.
But it is your choice. Thank you for stating what you think, instead of being closed to communication about the truth.
iandlepiano 1 year ago
@studioROT Jesus was a man, but He was also God. He was perfect, flawless, sinless, and mistake-less. His death was completely undeserved and only for us. He did not need to ever die, accept for us.
iandlepiano 1 year ago
@studioROT Everyone has this hole inside of them somewhere. There is always that whisper in the core of our being that cries, "There must be something more! What is the point of this life?" How do we know that something is missing? How do we know that there is supposed to be a reason for our existence?
If we were not created for something specific then why are we driven for a purpose? What makes life so special? If we are random chance then there would be no reason why we think murder is wrong.
dieKoninginderNacht 1 year ago
@dieKoninginderNacht , I strongly disagree with the idea that we all would have a hole inside. Firstly, we are all very fortunate to have made it into the whom in the first place (chance of one in several hundred million). The point of life, I think, is to propagate our DNA. I see murder as wrong by way of philosophy (moral code), combined with an innate natural drive (piranhas do not not devour each other because they follow a doctrine). And life IS indeed fantastically special and precious!
studioROT 1 year ago
@dieKoninginderNacht, that should be womb instead of whom, naturally...
studioROT 1 year ago
@studioROT How do we know that life is precious? How do piranhas, us and other creatures know this if we are a shot in the dark? Where can moral codes come from if not from another source? You said you got your morals from past thinkers, correct? How could they decide one day that taking something from someone else is wrong? How do we learn that we shouldn't hit others for not agreeing with us? Our parents. A higher source. Would it be impossible that our moral code come from one higher source?
dieKoninginderNacht 1 year ago
@dieKoninginderNacht, To be, see, learn, share, love, be loved, create, add, invent and think for a few years is extremely precious.
Anyhow, I could argue that, rather than being a shot in the dark, we survived because.. we did not kill each other (evolution). Or, I could argue for rational philosophy versus religious dogma. I can even agree that human-made moral code is precarious. But ultimately, you and I differ in our (dis-)belief in God and Original Sin. Perhaps we should agree to differ.
studioROT 1 year ago
@studioROT I do not mind agreeing to disagree. But I ask that you do not think that I have taken some religious dogma as my own. The reasons I have chosen Jesus were the result of much study and surprising experiences. This decision wasn't made lightly due to all the animosity against Jesus and the idea of God (even in my own family). But all my research and things I have witnessed left me with the realization that God was real. The only question was, would I continue after God or go my own way?
dieKoninginderNacht 1 year ago 2
@dieKoninginderNacht , I do not doubt that you have genuine reasons for your belief and respect your views. As for the dogma issue, I will take your word for it. As I said before, it might be a matter of semantics, but I sure do understand that you do not follow a worn-out religious system. All I can say about that is: good for you...!

@studioROT I'm not offended or upset that you don't see what I see or agree with me. I am glad though that I was able to have this discussion with you. You have a unique view and it is an honor to have met you. Have a great life!

@dieKoninginderNacht , likewise..!
studioROT 1 year ago
@studioROT religion is just that, trying to do good and make good. The truth is every time we try to do what we think is good, we are limited, and enslaved to doing the selfish. Have you done good? Have you given your life completely to and for others? Are you perfect? This is what Jesus wants to do through His people, and He does. Jesus is not a religion. Jesus is someone who loves more than anyone else can. He gave His life for me, you, and the world. If you believe Him, He puts to death sin.

@studioROT Well what's "good" without an example?
JullenaBurcham 1 year ago
@JullenaBurcham. What are the criteria by which we judge the example..?
studioROT 1 year ago
@studioROT Exactly, seems like we all have a little bit of our father in us no matter how much we convince ourselves He doesn't exist.
JullenaBurcham 1 year ago
@JullenaBurcham, It is not a matter of convincing oneself that a god does not exist, it is a matter of not being convinced by the improbable proposition that it DOES exists.
Surely, you do not believe in the existence of a rival god to your specific personal religion? You do not have to convince yourself that that god does not exist? If I claim the existence of leprechauns, you do not have to convince yourself that they do not exist? Instead... you take the default position... skepticism..!
studioROT 1 year ago
@studioROT Without evidence to disprove something there is a large amount of convincing that DOES take place. Leprechauns aren't the best example but the only evidence of them is a lack of evidence that says they do not exist. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. So wether or not you beleive, you have convinced yourself either way.
JullenaBurcham 1 year ago
@JullenaBurcham, indeed... and that's where the concept of probability comes into the equation...
A helpful method of reasoning in these matters is the application of the principle of parsimony, sometimes expressed as Occam's Razor.
You will never be able to provide evidence against the very reasonable claim (I live in Ireland) that I have leprechauns in my garden... but do you think it is probable? Is it probable that I am the reincarnation of Napoleon? Can you demonstrate prove against it..?
studioROT 1 year ago
@studioROT Probability and stastics is illogical outside of economic matters. It's probable that you won't get struck by lightning tomorrow... ok but tell that to the guy who does. So the probability of said things existing, one can never be sure thus follows the convincing.
JullenaBurcham 1 year ago
@JullenaBurcham , lightning is an observable and measurable phenomenon. One could even provoke a direct hit. It occurs within the natural order. The probability that it CAN happen is relatively high. The probability that it will strike me tomorrow, is not so very high (but it could).
Gods (and leprechauns) do not qualify for that category. Their existence would demand suspension of the natural order. The claim of their existence is therefor an extraordinary one. It makes them very improbable.
studioROT 1 year ago
@JullenaBurcham,...reading over our dialogue, it occurs to me that we might have different understandings of the word 'convincing'.
I do not have a believe in gods; I am not convinced. But I am very open to testable, empirical evidence that would convince me. So far, that has not been the case (the video above is a good example of a disappointing attempt to that).
I find that faithful people often lack the will to critically examine their convictions. But perhaps you are not one of them...
studioROT 1 year ago
@studioROT My faith is of the most genuine and is in responce to what is felt in my conscience so you are correct. With the faith I have I will always think everybody has to convince themselves of the non existance of a Diety. I believe that deep in the subconcsience there is a longing for reasoning in this world. Since there is no "measurable evidence" for the existance of God one deducts (convinces themselves) that there is no God.
JullenaBurcham 1 year ago
@JullenaBurcham , agreed...
studioROT 1 year ago
@JullenaBurcham "My faith is of the most genuine" So you blindly follow something genuinely. Mindlessness at its best.
"I will always think everybody has to convince themselves of the non existance of a Diety" First, what makes it your deity? Out of hundreds of pantheons and mythos, why is it only the specific one?
Second, you are actually wrong in your "thought". Do you need to convince yourself that elves don't exist? Pixies? Unicorns? One-eyed one-horned flying purple people eaters.
onijester56 1 year ago
(cont)
And then, you fail to take into account that while you condemn thinking "nonexistence" because "everybody has to convince themselves", you yourself are convincing yourself, and not even following simple logic in your attempt to do so.
And then you fail to define "God", which then leaves some vague idea that has the property that each concrete aspect attributed to it goes against the reality you must accept it made if it existed.
[To put it simply.]
onijester56 1 year ago
@onijester56 You're examples fall under the same criteria of the "leperchauns." We all convince ourselves, deist included.
JullenaBurcham 1 year ago
@JullenaBurcham [You're examples fall under the same criteria of the "leperchauns."] And they fall under the same criteria as "God". You fail to answer the question presented, yet expect mindless and unthinking slaves.
"We all convince ourselves, deist included." Your use of "convince" where you mean "believe" is actually quite fallacious. Also, it's not "convincing oneself" to take the null hypothesis and have a general lack of belief/conviction UNTIL EVIDENCE IS PRESENTED OTHERWISE.
onijester56 1 year ago
@onijester56 You can call it whatever you want.

Either way, both your argument and your word-use are fallacious.
onijester56 1 year ago
@studioROT But all in all It's God's job to "convince" you. I'm just called to love and share the good news. I've been praying for ya.

@JullenaBurcham , as you might have guessed, I strongly doubt the effect of prayer... but I sincerely appreciate your consideration.
Thanks

@2ceBorn repentance? Meaning that you force yourself by your own will and power to change, or admit that you can't and let Jesus do it?
iandlepiano 1 year ago
@iandlepiano By repentance, I mean you, by your will, submit to God's grace, admitting that only He can save you.
2ceBorn 1 year ago
@2ceBorn Yes, I agree. There is a doctrine saying that you must repent from your sin before you can accept Jesus' payment for it. Which makes little sense. The way to repent is to accept Jesus. I was just watching for a false teaching. (:
iandlepiano 1 year ago
@iandlepiano I personally think God works on a soul with His grace. When we respond to that working, He, in His grace alone, enables us to repent(admit we are sinners and that He alone can save us) and believe(that He died and already paid for our sin). I believe repentance and faith are simultaneous. As far as accepting Jesus, I'm not really sure what that means.
2ceBorn 1 year ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@2ceBorn I agree with you. I use the term "accept Jesus" meaning that you accept Jesus as your savior, by believing Him. Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Praise the Lord. What He has done is wonderful!
iandlepiano 1 year ago
@2ceBorn Repentance is turning from what you are doing and doing something different, It is like doing a 180 degree turn. If you are having sex outside of marriage and you repent then that means you stop having that sex, if you are doing drugs and you repent, it is more than saying you are sorry to God, it is turning from that way and going in another direction.

Does all faith = salvation - work ?
If so, then does the faith I have, like my girlfriend not cheating on me or my faith to my parents or Buddhism, Islam or faith in Christ = Salvation - work? From the context I am left to assume you are talking about Faith in Christ work as you quote the Bible verses. It is best for most viewer interest that you be more precise. Btw I love this video clip

Faith is the substance works is its shadow. If you have no shadow you have no substance..
Its the subsyance that saves and the shadow that proves.
dard1313 2 years ago

A person should not be focused on their deeds so much as focused on Christ above all else. Focus on God and the deeds will follow. why compare yourselves with others? we all fall short of Christ and that is why we are hell bound without him. you can't weigh your salvation by how much you don't sin compared to your friend, or what more good you do than him.
dard1313 2 years ago
the wages of sin is death.
