  • thats happened to me, but hard drive was in computer

  • looks old like a fujitsu 20gb

  • self soldered

  • @Blinkwing yup, the drive had been previously wired backwards (cheers knackered molex), so a replacement diode was fitted. Worked a treat for a couple of years

  • @gvsyn no, i mean, that the drive soldered itself because it became so hot!

  • I did that accidently once, with a floppy drive :(

  • RIP

  • does it work?

  • That happened to me.

  • now that's what I call a firewall :)

  • WHY YOU KILL HIM WITH A BRIDGE FROM THE POWER? That was so fu***ng stupid

  • @MrCrashOverride77 entertaining you mean

  • 3 days a go I was using a quanitum fireball

And I was using xp the hdd crashed then started to boot then it was a smoke/fire ball

(chip fried) (relly started on fire but I had the hdd in arms reach because I was working on a open pc

  • That's why it was called quantum fireball xD

  • ...and thats why dodes are a necessare part in life...

  • bye bye psu =)

  • waaaaay too much porn

  • data is still on the disk....

  • too much porn:D

  • one thing to say:

    BYEBYE, CHILDPORN :3

  • WTF!!!!!!!!

  • That must smell!

  • must leave no trace of porn

  • BURN!!! HDD!! BURN!!!! XD

  • try making a short circuit on the +5 and ground pins like i did accidentaly on a maxtor HDD... it will burst 20cm flame from a chip for 5 seconds :S:S:S

  • lOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOl you pluged it in t the wall!

  • 120V is sure to kill it, it's only meant for 12V, 5V, and sometimes 3.3V lines!

  • fuck!!!!!

  • rofl

  • Pfft..all you did was kill the drive controller.

  • That happened to my hard drive the other day lol

  • now play nice kids!

  • circuit board even started to lift!

  • Hate to break it to ya, but once you destroy the controller card for the hard drive, its pretty much impossible to recover data in a normal fashion. You cannot just replace that card.

  • your dumb, you can recover files.

  • I am not disagreeing with you on that part. Yea, you can take a magnetic microscope and recover data from the hard drive, its just, you cannot replace the controller card and have it work again.

  • actually... i do it at work all the time.

  • Your dumb as fuck..

  • Ah, thanks, I'll write that on the top of my Electronics Engineering Degree to remind me.

  • Digitalstorm007 go sit back in your armchair, ya armchair scientist.

I agree with MKeyserSoze, I bet he gets paid for repairing HDDs in that fashion aswell.

    nub.

  • I work for the Office of Information Technology, at the Ohio State University, which is currently the largest college in the United States. The only reason this works is that we buy oem computers in bulk. When a computer's hard drive fails, I literally can find a drive made from the same batch with sequential serial numbers. The firmware and everything else about the board is the same. I am sure he has tried and failed because he could not find exact matches in his replacement boards.

  • you cant, hard drive lockout.

all i was saying you can recover files off the drive.

  • that happened to my new 400 gb hdd. the power connetor started glowing and it nvr turned on again

  • Circuit card is gone, but I think that the disk and mechanical pieces are still good.

  • good god man how many wats do u have on the powersupply
