  • These dresses & this dance are sooooo stunning & beautiful!

  • brendan is for me the best lead male, better than flatley

  • I like this although the lead is combining the Flatley and Dunn solos

  • I think Riverdance is so popular because it builds off of universal rhythms that all humans share, no matter what culture or land we come from. We may not all have the same music, but there's an underlying beat and rhythm to everyones lives from the seasons, to the day, to our own heartbeat, and I think Riverdance captures some of that spirit. As an American from the Appalachians, I love to see the way my ancestors would have danced and how it is still kept alive in our music and dance here.

  • im learning this at my dancing :)

  • I remember doing a version of this in my Irish Dance School, i wasnt lead but ye'no............ it is magical dancing with that music :]

  • Praise the sun!

  • I so wish I could pull that off. And I wish I had people who were willing to try (and have fun failing) that with me.

  • @firekit3 Same here, same here =<

  • I've attended several live performances of Riverdance and viewed dozens of videos of its dance performances. Without question, this video presents the best production of Reel Around the Sun, my favorite number, which I was thrilled to see in person recently in San Diego.

The Director of this number took advantage of the tension and suspense created by sharing the introduction music before the action begins. A great performance and a great video!

  • I want go to dancing

  • I love it we are going to learn it in my school at wilcox

  • Colin Dunne's taps

  • wonder how much they pay Flatley in risiduals lol, coz that's STILL his original tap track the lead is miming to

  • the one made in 1995 is still the best one out of all the one i seen..that change and miss a lot if you grown up watching the one that is made in 1995 you might know what i am talking about

  • Riverdance is one thing that WILL always be in my life :)

  • I wish I could fiddle on the cello. I'd never play anything else

  • I should have never quit my tap dance lessons....

  • @Shadoessa hahahaha same!

  • Flatley is an amazing dancer, I really dont think anyone can deny that. But all dancers are different and may have different yet similar styles, I like Breandan on stage just because he just seems like a naturally nice guy with the way he dances. For some reason that catches my interest and makes me like him a lot. Not that Flatley isnt a nice guy, he is but... Breandan I feel more like hes more humble. But theyre both amazing dancers with slightly different styles.

  • I really want to join a river dance class now. :o

  • =) AXCELENTE

  • UFFFFF QUE BACANO ESE BAILE ♪♫♪♫♪♫♪

  • Omg i love riverdance!!!! Respect from Serbia!!! Loveee thiis maaan!!

  • was there really an need for the dramatic entrance, with all that smoke?

  • I like the parts where they dance

  • I watched this becasue my girlfriend told me to watch it because shes doing a preformance to this song soon. more entertaining than i was expecting tbh.

  • awe-inspiring! mesmerizing music hammering open one’s ego with every tap of their feet. immortal contribution from the Irish spirit & should be passed down from generation to generation.Though much criticized, this troupe deserves to be ranked with the legendary 1994-96 Riverdancers led by Flatley & Dunne. actually prefer de Gallaí's upper body movements – forceful swings like Spanish bullfighters & Chinese martial artists. music also played by the 12Girls band using oriental music instruments

  • at 1.03 they look kinda scary... im addicted to watching riverdance since i got a laptop in my room:D xxxxx

  • i learned this dance when i was 10 and i got 2nd place!! its a very very difficult dance! im now 18 and still no it!

  • very good quality, better than some of the other videos :D

  • masterpiece of musik/ dancing! Honestly! I'm impressed!

  • Cudowne. Mam ochotę dołaczyć się i wytańczyć cały swój zachwyt do zycia, do słońca. Tak do utraty tchu, zmeczyć sie i byc po prostu szczęśliwą

Wonderful. I would like to join in and Dancing all his enthusiasm for life, to the sun. So out of breath, get tired and just be happy

  • such a powerful crescendo

  • That dudes solo was amazing!!!

  • this dance is so much fun to perform!!!

  • sooo amazing x

  • amazing, my salon has to do the dance in art class, but something different (easier). XD

  • 2:49 ; which song is that??

  • I guess the same.

  • That is some fancy footwork! Fantastic!

  • some good bodies to be had on these people!!

  • i hav a dance to this song from company i love it

  • Is it possible to watch this without moving your feet and wishing you could dance like that?

  • No it is not possible!

  • @SambaScramble It is if you can move you feet like that! I know the number!

  • not at all! :)

  • @mimmar3891

I wish, I've always wanted to learn how to do River Dance since I was in Elementary School. I think there is just something to an Irish Dance that makes you want to get up off your ass and do it with them. When I went to go see it when they came to Cleveland for the last time, I wanted to get out of my seat and do it.

  • @mimmar3891 its even harder for an irish dancer that knows how to do it all exacly lol

  • @mimmar3891

I don't think so. I want to get up and pretend I know what I'm doing every single time I watch and/or listen to Riverdance.

  • @mimmar3891 - No. No it is not.

  • @mimmar3891 im very close to being able

  • @mimmar3891 i dont have to wish :)

  • @mimmar3891

I was asking myself the same question. :D

  • @mimmar3891 nope.

  • @mimmar3891 definately not posible :D

  • I know a little bit of the choreography-makes me wanna go practice right now :D

  • magic song.

  • I loves how they throw their fists to the side in the beginning :DDDD

  • ahah very dramatic indeed, the girls just looks so gorges!

  • This guy is a masterful dancer, but he looks a bit constipated...lol Very dramatic arms...hehe

At least Colin Dunne looked like he was having a good time. :-)

  • Collin is me first name!!

  • @IrishQT07 Colin Dunne in my mind is the best dancer that i have seen and not just on the Riverdance but in general

  • I see the 12 Girls Band performance of this song. That's very good.

  • una maravilla de baile, a ver cuendo actuan en españa, ire a verlos aunque tenga que hacer cola toda la n oche.

  • Lo mismo digo yo pero no sé si aún siguen actuando...Ojalá vengan :D

  • my favourite ;)

  • Great start to a great show

  • cool

  • I watched a documentary from Sky the other night and Brendan said this was his favourite of all the scenes from RD. Gotta say I totally agree. It's amazing!

  • excuse me i counted and he missed three...so nice try.

  • Timecodes?

  • Breandán de Gallaí was definatly not as good as MF.....his feet were so0o0 turned in and he missed like half his clicks in his solo!

  • Yes, that's true. But his style is much more Irish than Flatley, which was doing things in a too "americanized" way.

  • @arkantos69

I agree. Michael Flatley was also so flashy, and loved his time in the limelight. The other leads are a heck of a lot more humble.

  • @arkantos69 & @irishdancefanatic, de Gallaí's approach seems to me to be a little over the top in this particular number (his footwork perhaps a little too gleefully executed, and he moves his arms too much in general)

However, he is leaps and bounds above Flatley for the simple reason that de Gallaí clearly wants the best for Riverdance (as he is now Irish Dance Director), but Flatley only wanted the best for his ego (and to distract from his hair)

    W.E.Godfrey

  • @arkantos69 'sides which, Flatley was way too full of himself. I don't like Divas :p

  • He only missed one....

Watch it again and count what he actually misses. Maybe you just weren't watching close enough because of your flat-head!

  • @irishdancefanatic Does that matter?

  • @irishdancefanatic you should better open your eyes and your ears lad! haven`t you noticed how much sharper breandan was?

michael flatley is one of the worst leaders riverdance had, except collin dunne,... my god,.. dunne was really bad *g

  • @IrishDanceable You're crazy saying that about both! Flatley created the main choreographies and Dunne was an excellent dancer! Do you actually DO Irish dancing yourself??!!

  • @arkantos69 yes i do, check my video please. By the way, it was Jean Butler who was the main choreographer of riverdance.(I know her in person, she was my first teacher)

But just watch all 3 vids on youtube.

For sure it wasn`t correct calling michael F. one of the worst ones, but just have a look on riverdance nowadays! I once was one of the biggest fans of MF. Today my favourites are (male ones) Ciaran Maguire, Breandan de Gallai, scott doherty, or women ,..ciara sexton, susanne Cleary!

  • @arkantos69 ps.:are you an irish dancer, by the way? I`d love to see you! ;)

And every irish dancer will agree when i say breandan is one of the sharpest and best leaders riverdance ever had.

  • @IrishDanceable Yes, I am a dancer and I already had a few classes with Ciaran Maguire as his parents are my teachers currently. Some people may agree with you about Breandan and I think he is one of the best Irish dancers in the world, but I can't agree with you about Colin Dunne.

  • @arkantos69 what level are you in, if i may ask?

  • @IrishDanceable Why the question, if I may ask?

  • @arkantos69 because i think, you need to learn a lot of things till you can see the differences.

everybody loves michael flatley`s dancing style,.... until he or she learns open-irish dance.

of course his ideas were fantastic, and his shows sold out.

but just let me tell you a few reasons,.....

michael flatley is not straight in his front clicks, he is not turned out or crossed most of the time, well his rhythm is great,....tell me,..what do you like about colin dunne?

  • @IrishDanceable I think someone is being arrogant here. Michael Flatley did a total revolution in Irish dancing and even though his technique may not be the best comparing to other more orthodox dancers, as you said his rhythm is great and that's one thing of major importance in dancing. Colin as a very good technique and I like his subtlety when he is dancing, but I won't dissect his dance style, that would be foolish.

  • @arkantos69 you need a good technique to get a good rhythm! michael flatley HAD a good technique but he became lazy

  • @IrishDanceable I don't think he became lazy, I just think he grew older, as all human beings do...

  • @arkantos69 on the one hand yes, on the other hand i`ve seen older dancers with brilliant technique. (magic of the dance) but i want to say sorry to you, i neither wanted to attack you, nor irish dance in any way.

all i can say is, that in Reel around the sun i liked breandan most. It`s not important what we think, this show, Riverdance made irish dance world famous, and at least that`s it what counts.

  • @IrishDanceable Sure, no hard feelings taken. And I totally agree with you, it was Riverdance and Lord of the Dance that made me move away from my country to London and join an Irish dance school :-)

  • @IrishDanceable He did not become lazy. He got older, retired and also got sick. But he is back out on the road.... or at least he was in the beginning of the year. Don't mean to sound rude, but Michael Flatley is the most talented Irish dancer in the world. In my opinion. No one will ever replace him.

  • @IrishDanceable Also, I'm an open dancer, although not as advanced as most people of my age because I'm a very late starter in dancing. My path is a very unusual one and I wouldn't judge someone based on nothing when I know nothing about the person I'm talking to. And, most of all, we are talking about opinions. There are no absolute truths in something as subjective as dancing.

  • @arkantos69 So to come to an end, in your opinion michael flatley is better than breandan? okay,...just tell me why you think so? I`m really asking myself if i`m blind?! don`t get me wrong, i really`d like to understand you

  • @IrishDanceable I'm not saying he is better, I'm saying he is different! You didn't read a word from me saying one is better than the other. They have totally different styles and each one has his strong and weak aspects. Plus, most dance forms evolve over time and so does Irish dancing. So did the lead dancers since the show was created.

  • @arkantos69 well, that`s correct. My problem was, people saying breandan was worse than michael flatley.

this was where i wrote my first comment. i just can say facts

Breandan is more sharp, faster, more elegant, he DOES have a great rhythm (just if you see trading taps)

his entire technique is more irish, and riverdance i an irish dancing show. you`re dancing in ciaran`s parents school, so i don`t have to tell you anything about technique,... they`re great.but you`re right they are different

  • not as good as micheal flatley...but the over all show was good.

  • I don't agreed with you, I think Riverdance as evolved to a much higher level than the original version with Michael. And Breandán as a more "humble" presence on stage.

  • i think if you do it for the traditional feel of the Irish riverdance, it doesnt matter how good you area at it, all that matters is that you enjoy it, people make to much of a sport out of it...come off it laddy.

  • Um no I don't think stiller could do it at all. Actually I know he couldn't. I rish dance takes YEARS of work. Plus, to become a prinipal dancer you must become a world champion. Most dancers that make that start out VERY young. Stiller would be dead before he could get up that much skill. It really takes a lifetime commitment.

  • Actually, to even get into Riverdance you have to recall at the World Championships. So Ben Stiller wouldn't even beable to get into Riverdance at all ;P

  • wow that was amazing i remember i wanted to riverdance when i was younger.i used to click pens behind my back when i was younger so people thought i was riverdancing lol.

  • This is so amazing, I totally forgot about Riverdance until just recently. I used to dance Irish when I was younger, then I quit not long before the studio shut down. I'm trying to find another studio because I love this dance!

  • very beautiful @ 2:19

  • Michael Flatley is my favorite guy irish dancer, i quit dancing and now I regret it. But, I still watch the movies..

  • not as good as michael flately

  • Sorry, but I don't agree with you. Flatley was and still is a very good dancer, but is too much big ego wasn't allowing the show to evolve.

  • Flatley is the shit look at the old video of reel around the sun then look at this one. Flatley wins hands down.

  • yep.

  • MF wanted the show to evolve - the producers didn't because they were afraid to mess with success. They didn't want a 'star' becasue they wanted to run several companies simultaneously to make more money and if the show was identified with a single star, it wouldn't work.

It was their greed - not his ego - that led to MF leaving Riverdance - Plus - they wanted copyright of his choreography. Thank god they let him go - otherwise he wouldn't have done LOTD.

  • @arkantos69 but I do notice some seemingly contradictory elements...you said that de Gallai was more Irish and therefore more tradititional but the show still evolved? Wouldn't Flatley's innovative technique allow for more evolution and advancement of the art? (although he left too early to see what he may have further done with the show) And well this show was born out of that interval act, in which Flatley and Butler were the stars, so perhaps central attention is justified somewhat?

  • @arkantos69 I do agree that Flatley had too much ego, but in certain points of the show (like this song during his solo) the ego is what makes it. it's the confidence of saying "I'm awesome and I"m going to show you why". other parts though, he does let too much ego come through (like when it's supposed to be him and whoever the female lead is during that show) at that point it's supposed to be a mesh and Flatley overdoes it there.

  • @arkantos69 And this man love dancing. And that is the most important. I totally agree with you

  • does anyone else see that Ben Stiller might be good at doing this dance...cause that guy looks like Stiller and made me think, maybe Stiller can do a dance like that.

  • Yeah! If u can, watch the movie 'Duplex'. Ben Stiller tries to dance like this guy. It's funny. Don't think the taps are recorded. Anyway, it's beautiful and amazing ...

  • This type of exercise would be perfect for any fat person to lose the excess weight, because one Never sees FAT people dancing like this!!

  • bullshit, i dance all around, fat. hehe just not live or in front of anyone.

  • Not necessarily true. It's possible, though rare, to be fat but in excellent shape and dance well. But your point is good in that dancing is excellent and fun exercise.

  • I performed this number today, before about 750 people. There was magic in the air tonight =)

  • Superb

  • He reminds me of Ben Stiller, and that's not a good think.... and I believe the taps are recorded too:(

  • Thats the song that Andreea Raducan used for her floor exercise!

  • I performed it at my dance studio... omg it was so awesome!

Our dance instructors are a family so they were the solos (A brother and a sister in the fam)... ugh it was just amazing!)

  • In my opinion this is the best show from Riverdance

Best song, best choreography, best everything = A++

  • Swiss made reguards are the best in all the times.

  • I performed to that song at a talent show
