  • If you live in California, the method he speaks of will increase your probability to die. California buildings have evolved well beyond Haiti's buildings. So unless you are in a building built prior to 1937 (even then I would dive under a table) then for your own life's sake drop and cover under a table or something. To save lives 235 Gorden needs to take down the video.

  • I use my old Table.. its made of dense wood, kept sturdy by good ol metal beams... I'm fairly certain that staying underneath that is safe than counching beside a couch or chair as gavity isn't a friend of those.... they'll be crushed along with the people next to it... door frames are safer than those... specially a good model as the wood beams tend to be supported by the frame of the wall..

  • @Marlockie Thanks for commenting. I just hope neither of us has to make these decsions in the terror and random chaos in an earthquake. Duck and cover does seem a good chioce,

  • Stu, thanks for the comment

I just feel for the victims. Doug Copp’s reputation I see is not good and his sales style makes me wonder. I guess we are never prepared I applaud your ideas and your efforts to teach people on how to survival in disaster situations. Flying objects kill as does being crushed behind cover. So I cannot imagine one simple answer covers all situations, so having some varied ideas & awareness must be a good thing. Keep up the good work.

    Cheers Gordon

  • I'm afraid Doug Copps theories have been discredited as dangerous in western civilisation where someone is more likely to be killed by flying objects and debris - Please google 'Doug Copp Critique PDF' which provides an insight into his interesting antics. I work for NZ SAR and we teach duck and cover through the civil defence, my advice is to strongly avoid listening to what Doug Teaches, his experience is false as are his qualifications from his own self established organisation.Cheers, Stu

  • thumbs up if the shaytards brought you here

  • in urban search and rescue they use wood to lift heavy debrie, not bulky soft couches or beds, ask any fire resque expert be under a stable furniture or at risk of falling debrie next to a soft shelter.

  • Doug Copp's theory is very interesting to say the least, sounds very logical to me.

but then I googled "TRIANGLE OF LIFE" and I found that most experts say it's crap.

I don't know what to think anymore.

  • Good discussion. There are no guarantees and the chances are slim either way. Those who by luck end up in cavities can be survivors. I am not sure I have heard of people being found standing in doorways after a building has collapsed . Doug Copp is one person who does rescues this for a living, Search and rescue teams the world over have similar experiences. The real hope is that no-one is put to test of the theories.
