Actually the 3v 4.6 is a good car/motor to work on. Can you put on long tube headers with a tubular k-member? I don't think so, but I can. Also these cars were meant to be fairly simple to work on. Good for track cars, although the cobra motor/tranny are much better.
@SeanBallaWaller1 i did the install myself but look to spend about a g on parts labor took me 2 days cause a valve retainer fell down into an oil galley
I am installing comp cams in my 4.6 gt and I have a question.. How can I be 100 percent sure they are lined up perfectly correct?? What do I use as a reference? I have the right at 12 and the left at 11 nd the crank at 6. But there's slack in the chain and I want to make sure to get that part right. No one really seems to have an answer for me
well slack in the chain doesnt sound great... mine went on great , i did nothing but shove the wedge in there pull the cams install the new and change the oil. only to be forsure is to degree your cams i would think but then ur pulling the timing cover off the front of the motor

One question what all was involved here, did you use the factory cam phasers or use the lockouts? and did you ever take the chains off the sprockets or did they remain in place while you replaced the cams? Because i read that you have to spin the cam over some during the torq proccess any help is appreciated thx

Awesome. I'll never let someone else touch my car. The cams, LT headers and motor mounts are the only parts I haven't done myself. That will change now. It's not worth it to let someone touch your car IMO. I'm going to swap my FRPP cams out with some FI friendly ones this fall along with the centri s/c. I refuse to EVER reinstall the stock 6k power cams. This car f-in wheezed! above 6k stock.
yep stock cams and springs dont like to be wound up to tight you can start to feel the valve float around 5500rpm and loose power , hopefully the springs will allow me to do what i want with it, and ya dont let anybody touch your car!!!!! i knew a shop mechanic for bmw and rest assured that dealership mechanics that get alone with your car will drive the piss out of it and have compleet disregard to the condition of a nice auto..
well parts cost something like 850 with new oil filter,mobil 1 oil, cams ,valve springs, retainers, torque to yeild bolts and specil valve spring compressor tool, i reused the valve cover gaskets and did not take off the heads, took about 6 hours to do over 2 days(got rather frustrating with trying to put on the compcams 190lb springs.....their strong!!!)

no idea yet... no way to get it to the dyno. but more mods yet to go on and ill post them as i get them done and when it goes on the dyno ill post a video and dyno graph for natural and nitrous
You need to make a video of the sound of your new cams. I love the sound of Mustangs with cams. So yeah try to make a idle/rev test or a few drive by passes!!!

How much HP do the new cams give now?
You need to make a video of the sound of your new cams. I love the sound of Mustangs with cams. So yeah try to make a idle/rev test or a few drive by passes!!!
