Auron is the hardass, intelligent and experienced mentor of Tidus, and Tidus has more of an emotional side to him. And, as much as I hate to say it, The emotionals always seem to make the better Main characters. I mean, even you have to admit, having a game based around an intelligent, uncaring hardass who does whatever would get boring fast.
