  • Ah this brings back so much memories.1978~<3

  • Spring of 78 right before graduation from Terry Sanford HS in Fayetteville, NC. Saw them and the Brothers Johnson open for them at the Cumberland County Memorial Coliseum. Then in fall of 79 saw them open for Frankie & Maze.

  • One day there will be an artist that does music of this quality and be bigger than Beyonce, I believe it.

  • Still one of the best tracks that really didn't get much radio play, But true LTD fans bought it anyway!!

  • Hit #1 on the Billboard R&B chart for 2 weeks in Sept 1978

  • classic!!! I HAD THE 8 TRACK,,,, WALKING ON THE OLD DIRT RODE .....

  • My dad had this album & it brings back memories .He was a big LTD fan & they always had great album artwork.

  • Straight up funk. They don't make it like this anymore because they CAN'T!! Most of these guys don't know their way around an instrument enough to play this kinda funk anymore...and the young kids don't even know what instruments are.

  • A cousin of mine was accidently shot in the neck by a friend in 1978 when this song came out. Everytime I heard this song, I think of my cousin in the hospital holding on for life. He did survive the shooting. One of my all time favorites from LTD feat. Jeffrey Osbourne, Holding On. Great Hit from the 70s.

  • @graydog788 lol. I know the feeling!

  • @graydog788 i was 4 when this goodness came out

  • Classic r'n'b and soul from the 70s was THE business. R'n'b - or what they have the nerve to call r'n'b - today is just a load of autotuned, electronically-processed garbage that only serves to disguise the main ingredient: tunes (or in the latter's case - an astonishing lack of tunes). Back then, they could SING, unlike today when all the so-called 'soul' singers do is wibble as many notes as they can when just one or two will do. (Blame Miss Piggy lookalike Mariah Carey for this craze)

  • @busterabcat yeah, i think r&b may have died around 2005. what's making rap music so good currently is that there are still the 90s rappers still putting out good music. back to r&b, the only group i've heard in recent years that put out good music is mint condition.

  • @bdscavenger Lucy Pearl, Angie Stone

  • @busterabcat It is a shame what mainstream soul music has become. There are great soul singers like Chrisette Michele, Ledisi, Amel Larrieux and others but unfortunately they never get the recognition that they richly deserve.

  • @caribja Right ON

  • YOU DONT HEAR IT!!

  • as a kid my parents use to rock this...as a man today I LIVE this very song...

  • Whoever posted this, thanks!!! I just celebrated my 39th bday & I grew up on real old school R&B Black music like this. It really brings back so many memories

  • Grown folks music.....A old school classic...

  • My JamMMMMM!

  • @Change2be1 a true classic my friend......this is real music!

  • old school rocks, blue jeans on the women too back in the day on the skating rink

  • That bass guitar rocks out man !!!

  • think it ain't hard....try it.

  • The person that hit the dislike button was confused. They thought dislike meant "This Like" so they hit it.

  • yeah!!!!!

  • no love in the world today like when this music was made

  • Are you for real. One of th greatest hit of all time that will never got the credit it should have. Real R&B that moves ya soul. Can you feel it I know u can.

  • @boomcc1 music on YT keeps us sane. We can always find the music that speaks to the heart, to our deepest emotions -- the eternally real music..

  • @kariebeez its all worth it, soul jammers, 70s and 80s, not to sure about the 90s ewww

  • One year out of high school life was good

  • Thumbs up !

  • Fruity, Fruity Fruity lol Love Ya Ma

  • 1:07...ha ha ha who are you kiddin' do do do do do....

  • A time when music was soulful, organic and spoke to your soul. Today's music is soul-LESS, impure and stimulates the flesh! I wish for those days of real singers, instrumentation and brilliant lyrics again and I am just 23!

  • @outofthisworldgurl PREACH!!!

  • @outofthisworldgurl

for real, music back then was pure and all about love. i really miss that and yearn fot those days again!

  • @outofthisworldgurl i feel ya shawty, im 25 n i get the picture. music today is fa the 90s babies now 80s babies get it cuz we was born from tracks such as this...and that's no lie!!

  • @outofthisworldgurl ..That's not true...there are many great neo soul artists and groups whose organic music and words speak to your soul..India Arie, Jill Scott, Fertile Ground, Liz wright, Julie Dexter, Anthony David, Anthony Hamilton....etc...

  • @zahtece5 You are right! I was really talking about the crap that pushed and overly promoted in the mainstream, MTV and BET. The mainstream tend to follow what is presented to them and the artists that you meet aren't promoted in this way. The artists that you mentioned have more talent in one eye-lash than those that they push in the spotlight and its almost like a crime against humanity.

  • @zahtece5 True. I love the new soul cats out there...but still, they aint making funk like this anymore. Or if they are, i sure as hell don't ever hear it.

  • @desertdetroiter Because RAP has taken over

  • this is the jam!!
