JESUS BLIZZARD MAKE THIS GAME NOW! wow is admittedly on the way "Out" Its gonna take a while (bout 5 years maybe before they make it free to play and try to consolodate all the servers to a smaller group. ) but they will need a new "cash cow" eventually and the trend for mmos is now going spacey (Eve online, starwars, The failed startrek attempt ect)

Seems that the words pre alpha, beta and so are being misused a lot..... an alpha is a developmental test version, build to create and try features and mechanics. Beta is a build where things are working but not everything are tied in, and you run into errors. Demo is a demostration of the f.. meh, this is youtube why do we even borther

@uritziel What I wrote are still true according to the game development industry. An alpha, alpha meaning first refers to the initial building of mechanics, features and general coding. This is also called a mechanical test. This build leads to a showcase build displaying features and gameplay mechanics, in an early stage way before beta and this phase determines if the game will be developed or not.

@uritziel Most games are discarded on this. When you finish an actual game or section of the game, then you refer to it as a beta build. Meaning it's the game with everything, but not tied together yet and still contains placeholders and temporarely parts. When you finish the game, unofficially called "Charlie build" you can cut out a section for display and that will be a Demo, for demostration intended to sell. Are you interrested in Starcraft 2 mapping by any chance?
