What she refers to is the notion some people have that there are some "missing links" in the fossils, so called "intermediate forms". But evolution is constant change over time. Evolution does not jump from one full grown species to another. There are no intermediate forms who are half some species and half another. We are all intermediate forms, who are still evolving.

My girlfriend is as hardcore a Catholic as they come... and even she accepts that evolution is a fact of life. Evolution and religion are NOT incompatible. But evolution and stupidity ARE incompatible. My theory is that most creationists are truly unintelligent, bottom-of-the-barrel people, and they know it but don't want to accept their stupidity and inability to grasp simple scientific concepts so they instead hide behind psuedo-science and creationism and blame their religion for it all.

She does not understand evolution. She keeps asking where the evidence is regarding the transition from one species to another. What she refers to is the notion some people have that there are some "missing links" in the fossils, so called "intermediate forms". But evolution is constant change over time. Evolution does not jump from one full grown species to another. There are no intermediate forms who are half some species and half another. We are all intermediate forms, who are still evolving.

What sort of intelligent designer creates 100 billion galaxies, each with 100 billion stars, but only concentrates on this one planet? Even if you just look at our own solar system he creates seven other pointless planets with pointless moons orbiting around them! How could that be the work of an omnipotent and omniscient being? A perfectly natural explanation for everything and the fact that we don't have all the answers just isn't good enough for you?

My girlfriend is as hardcore a Catholic as they come... and even she accepts that evolution is a fact of life. Evolution and religion are NOT incompatible. But evolution and stupidity ARE incompatible. My theory is that most creationists are truly unintelligent, bottom-of-the-barrel people, and they know it but don't want to accept their stupidity and inability to grasp simple scientific concepts so they instead hide behind psuedo-science and creationism and blame their religion for it all.

@ciciomax You should check out Dawkins' interview with former director of the Vatican Observatory, Father George Coyne. Catholics are generally very open to Science.

@RafaHenryBorges I wasn't saying that Catholics aren't open to science. In fact, I was saying the opposite, that most educated and rational Catholics do adapt to new scientific discoveries and those still clinging to things such as creationism are simply hiding behind their religion as an excuse for their unintelligence.
