By ear, you're picking out the changing harmonies very well, but harmonies will sound incomplete without the tonic (root). In the song, the chords are (CM -> Em -> FM) and then (Am -> CM -> FM). Whatever bottom (Bass) harmony you're singing, it should really revolve around the root of the chord (C,E,F....A,C,F) in order to create balance. It will be boring to sing, but trust me people will love hearing it. Good Luck!
