You need a tripod that way you can place it and use both hand when doing stuff like this. As much as I'm sure everyone loves a tutorial, we'd hate to see you take a finger off while doing.
Ya saws do give you a fuzzy edge as compared to hot wire. However the accuracy is much better than the hot wire so I just do a quick edge sanding on it before painting it:) GREAT question:)!!!
Hey Bill, Because your scroll saw is a blade of course, when you look up close at the cut edges, aren't they a little "fuzzy" as opposed to a Hotwire cutter or No? I'm asking because last night I finally began my first attempt at a little rock Hill out of 2 or 3 thinner sheets glued together and when I cut/shaped them with a serrated knife similar to your scroll blade it was a little "fuzzy" I ended up attempting another method using the corner of a metal ruler to pluck and pull little chunks..
Never did like using those for cutting, was always thinking I would get a really horrible wound lol but I will have to find something to cut through plastic which will suck.
I would suggest turning the equipment off when you're just talking about the stuff. A person could do this with a bandsaw with a skinny blade.
