  • Here's some truth for the haters. I've been on a mission to lose fat for the past 3 weeks. I've taken pictures, measured with a caliper etc. I see a noticible difference already. And guess what. I don't lift weights. I don't cardio. I get up. Eat, have some coffee. Sit on my ass all day and repeat. And here is what people doesn't seem to get. If you burn more calories than you put in, you're gonna lose weight. Period.

  • @paaaatrika same here, been losing weight the easy way... counting calories.. diet > exercise

  • Ironic . You need to read a book. Yes A BOOK. a response would be welcome to any of my comments. But i guess you will just block and not address the ignorance and lies. I pity the people who want to make a better healthier life and listen to these videos. You discredit the profession which is rife with people taking advantage of poor regulation , codes and a lack of knowledge. You must be proud

  • I just thought of something. We probably wouldn't have obesity if we just cut out the extras we eat besides our normal meal. Most people eat 3 normal meals per day. A normal sized meal will usually be around 500 calories. So that's just 1500 calories for the day without really worrying about what we eat. And 3 meals is enough imo

  • I have talked to several national level athletes in my gym and they don't give a crap about heart rate. if a high heart rate burned fat we wouldn't have to work out, just drink a bunch of coffee :)

  • Does having trouble breathing during an exercise indicate that it's burning a good amount of fat or that it's mainly working the cardiovascular system?

  • Your first assumption isn't quite correct. We need a certain amount of sugar to help the compete burning of fat. As a matter of fact when distance runners "hit the wall" it's because they run out of glycogen to help the burning and use of fat.

  • Actually your body doesn't begin to use fat as an energy source until the muscles are depleted of their stored energy which is in the form of glucose. Only then does your body begin to use up its fat stores. So, if you don't work out hard enough (cardio, weights, etc.) to force your muscles to burn up their stored glucose you will not burn any fat reserves.

As your muscles adapt and grow they can store more glucose so they need to be worked out more to deplete them of it.

  • @paulmedina You are constantly moving all the time burning calories. You get your energy from food which a small amount is stored in muscle as glucose. If you eat less food to the point of where your body is burning more calories than the amount you are taking in (safe defeceit), where does the glucose energy come from at this point? Your fat reserves. You don't have to work out to be skinny. You work out to firm up and/or grow muscle mass. It also allows you to eat more and maintain a deficeit.

  • @paulmedina haha your statement made me laugh thats not true.

  • Losing weight is not difficult. All it is is movement and eating less excess food.

There's no food that causes weight loss, which is an oxymoron because food is the very thing that gives you weight to begin with! This is the kind of stuff I realize when I actually stick to this thing.

  • Thanks, Steve. About the heart rate thing, I started to think, what does this have to do with weight? I mean, it's just heart beats. How do they contribute to the weight loss process?

There's no secret to weight loss. What I have done, recommended by parents, works. The first thing I did when I started to get into shape was CUT EXCESS CALORIES. Eat within your means to maintain your body and be satisfied. Second thing was to START. Walking/jogging/anything you do will work.

  • Hey ttattx, care to back that up?

Anatomy has nothing to do with weight loss and calories, it's simply the study of the body. What is so difficult to get about burning more calories than you take in? EVERY human stores fat(calories) in their body for energy. The more calories we store, the fatter we get. The more calories we burn, the skinnier we get. All these bogus calculations like heart rate and fat-zone, whatever, don't cut it. Look at the big picture.

  • Thanks! Amazing how some people don't understand or can't handle the truth. Even when you pull your shirt off and show them. Airbrushing!!!

  • He is right, it is your perdonal BMR.

  • good stuff, i like your attitude.

  • i see a patern in his stuff..he makes the same point every tiem(although its a good one) that you always need to cardio, work out,and get less cals than you take in.

  • He didn't hurt his arm, he just want to be transformer

  • i do aerobics after treadmills and lifting weights

  • Is it just me or are these videos getting better and better.

  • did you hurt your arm?

  • Alot of people dont really understand what he is really on about hehe, its fun to see all the whine on these vids from people who actually know nothing about fatloss(which is what he is primary about). In my humble opinion, if you watch all his vids you have some pretty valuable info and programming having done to you. Programming is really important when it comes to slap someone silly to make them exercise and eat right.

Must say, im inspired Steve. keep up the great work, Regards from Sweden.

  • DON'T TALK SHIT ABOUT TOTAL

  • HA! HA! HA!

  • Steve... for the umpteenth time.

We. Are not. Aerobic. All the time. What part of this eludes you? Do you not read your comments?

Everything else you've said is more or less accurate, but you NEED to get understand the concept of "aerobics".

  • Your wrong about aerobics it works a lot. You ever hear of Step aerobics?! kick boxing and stuff is also put into my aerobics as well.

  • You are correct. He says "all activity burns fat", then says step aerobics aren't effective.

  • "arent THAT evffective." thats what he said.

  • You have overlooked Steve's sense of humor! Steve is just trying to convey DO SOME KIND OF ACTIVITY with intensity and do it consistently for results. Stop worring about heart rate, and fat burning zone garbage and just STAY ACTIVE. Eat LESS of what you like and the pounds will come off. It's that simple!!!

  • So why does the body adapt to your exercise routines? If you're still moving at the same pace and rate, shouldn't your body still be burning fat at the same rate, no matter if you just started the routine or if you've been doing the routine for 10 years? Our bodies are jacked up.

  • aah i dont think your body adapts, i think the muscles you are using for that exercises just get stronger so therefore its easier so your hearth rate wont be as high

  • that question wasnt worth asking...kinda dumb, really. More you workout the more fit you become, the more fit you become the less energy it takes to do the same thing. You made it sound like the body is cheating you like its politics or something. Hey, are you retarded?

  • LOL! Aerobics people are fat!

It can't compare to cardio on a treadmill or elliptical.

  • i do aerobics and im not fat.

  • Great stuff, you really know what you are talking about, enjoying your vids.

  • ? Steve, how accurate are the calories on the eliptical/treadmill readings?

Great video. You are THE MAN!

  • I've been asking him this question forever. But...anyway, I decided to search for some articles. I read tons and they all say the same thing: That the counters tend to over estimate, even if you enter your stats. I still look at it as a gauge. I tend to burn 10cals a min. Still I focus on how a feel. I did the same workout on the treadmill for a week. By day three, it was already too easy. If you're fit, you're burning less calories than someone who's not as fit and who's moving slower than you.

  • Steve cant say it enough mate.. your a legend!!

  • thanks for the videos bro!

  • THANKS! (I sent you this question). You've made me feel a lot better about my progress. I'm female, btw. =)

  • Heart rate burning fat? HhaAHhAhAHHahhA

  • every one has to get there head out of ther butts that will burn some calories (just kidding)any one can change there bodys just by moving nomatter what you do if you dont like to work out do somthing you like to do. play with your kids take them to the park everyday and play basketball, football, soccer you could do lots of things just make it fun and you will bond more with your kids and they will love you more.

  • Absolutely dead-on Steve!

  • oh steve! you are the best. and you speak so fast! does that mean you burn more calories? i other words, if i speak as fast as you will i burn a whole lot more calories? and i do hope your arms is healing pretty well! i love your body steve!

  • u needa get your head out of your butt the amount of fat u burn when u are at 50 BPM is miniscule compared to the fat at 130 BPM

  • steve is correct too

  • of course he means that but he just means that you 50 bpm, isn't "useless".

  • thank you Steve. I am doing a lot of Pilates now, I just got a big crush on pilates. What's your personal opinion about pilates? thanks

  • Steve although you say what should seem pretty obvious, what is it that whenever you speak its like you're a godsend? lol. Love Your Body! Hope the recovery is goin well!

  • steve is furious

  • brilliant!

  • u are so funny :)

  • this guys is awesome!!! good job man, i learn so much from your videos!

  • STEVE YOU GENIUS! keep em coming!

  • Need mah man Steve's advice: I've got my weight under control and have lost a significant proportion. 55 pounds in all!!! I've done it by walking 3 times a week at around 10 miles a day, which considering my starting weight of 250 pounds takes me way over 1000 calories per journey. On others, using a mixture of weight training and an hour cardio, this according to the machines burns over 1000 calories....

  • LOL! Steve your video's crack me up! :-)

    Dan

  • Thanks steve

  • I've been watching your videos for a while now and really enjoying them.

On some days I do a 45 minute slow run, and on other days I do a 30 minute fast run. According to the treadmills both burn about 600 calories, but after the slow run I'm normally not even really sweating. I just feel very bored. The 30 minute run is a killer and the last 10 minutes are a real challenge.

So one feels much harder than the other but both burn the same calories. Is that correct? It seems counter intuitive

  • Thanks again Steve, great video!

  • as usual, a great vid.

Quick question.. will there be a video the conference seminar you're going to give in Clearwater? thanks

  • Very good Right on!

Do you have any fav Meal Replacement or Snack Bars IF you had to choose?

My Gym likes the Detour Bar Due to the Low glycemic index. Thoughts?

  • An apple is far cheaper and superior.
