for those that know that Java is dutch light cruiser, Exeter main battery is 203mm guns, japanese torpedo is 610mm etc. download and play Action station, a old dos game, not like this crap..
I think the first thing to get pass though this mission is to be lucky(or skillful) enough, that at least you need to blow the enemy magazine or engine room at the beginning light cruiser divions, to reserve more health of your ship until to last heavy cruisers.
thats waht i always try to do but the tactic i had always been doin was to fire at the longest possible range and aim for the magazines, but it never survived farther than teh chester, i will try that the next time i play this game
What I did was not allow my destroyers to use torpedoes until I faced the CAs. It wasn't foolproof though; still took me a few tries. The beauty of torpedoes isn't just in their damage potential, it's in their potential to disrupt an enemy ship's maneuvers, even making them stop completely sometimes.
i know about the torps potential but wheever i fired thme i didnt get the desired affect, they always missed and the ships didnt even have to move to evade them them, but i will try that
It doesn't always work. If you still have both your DDs you can switch to them and launch their torps manually, ahead enough of the CAs that they have to stop to avoid them. That's how I did it after trying a few different strategies.
Here's another method you might want to try: Put all 3 of your ships on FREE MOVE, then switch to a DD then back to your CA to enable it. After that let the computer do all the maneuvering while you just choose targets and aim. It helps immensely when dodging torps. If you think it's cheating, then think about this: No naval ship had 1 person in charge of maneuvering, guns, watching for torps etc. Let your midshipmen do their job on the bridge while you take personal command of the guns!
Wow ur techinique blows. I would recommend running away fro mthe 3rd wava aka USS Java and then the DDs are 40 speed so they move faster than the CA then you take out the DDs then mass take out the CA from 3 to 1. And Keep doing that. Thats How I won.
Your CA isn't as fast so how do you run away effectively? With my method you unload everything you have on the CA waves since the waves before them are easy to kill without torps.
Your CA has the total 28 NOTS and you run at the 3rd wave. You first start by engaging De Ruyter which is the first wave (Which you had an incredible time taking it out and then sank.) I don't understand how it is a glorious ship went itself a Heavy Cruiser Sank from a computer controlled regular cruiser. Once you destroy the two CLs you now do the running technique. Which a heavy American cruiser will now pop out. USS Java: total NOTS 28. Wow its gonna maintain a fair distance from Nachi.
PArt 2: Which means the USS Java will keep chasing you until you purposely slow your speed down till it comes in range. Now that its chasing you and cannot catch up will make its destroyers 40 NOTS go after you. No the destroyers have shorter range then a heavy cruiser. So once they come in rang they cannot shoot you. So shoot them down and turn broadside. Once those 2 destroyers are done go all in on the Java and take it out as quickly as possible before further more damage on Nachi.
Part 3: Then you do this for the next 2 CA/ Heavy Cruisers. And your method was good? lol Yours is like 40 percent of what your supposed to do in my method. Well I don't exactly understand how unloading everything except torps is a method. Obviously your not gonna sit there and get shot. No duhr you give everything you got. In fact in all missions I give everything I have even on multiplayer. Your method shouldn't even be a method more like a common sence techinique.
Special note: I just looked at your original method and you said it isn't fullproof. So how exactly would it be considered a method? Seriously I'd love to VS you on battlestations.

I cannot pass it either, the best I can do was damaging the USS Houston to <10% health remaining before my ship was destroyed

Shouldn't be any different for xbox besides the actual controls you use to enable FREE MOVE. I think the game is exactly the same.
