I've only ever read the book of The Hobbit, but it looks like it could be a great movie. Richard Armitage, Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman...(I'm also a massive Sherlock fan.)
God seriously gave with both hands when he created this amazing man. I love seeing him laugh, because we don't get to see it very often in his roles. He's so adorable.
I love the bit about the action figure. I love his smirk at 3:35 at the end of that answer! i watched it 100 times and still can't get enough of it, LOL
I'd really like to see Guy of Gisborne find someone who he TRUELY loves without being obsessed, whether that be a girl, or a mate who he becomes totally loyal to and respects as a good friend
Trying to marry one of the royals? Hilariously bizarre. I like how he tries to answer the black question seriously, then looks down at his shirt and laughs. He has such an adorable laugh.
This is a great interview. Can't wait to see his interviews for The Hobbit someday. Richard Armitage is so thoughtful in his answers and his laugh is a delight!
He is charming, dashing, sweet, flawless on screen.. and unlike other actors with those qualities on screen.. He is the same in real life, which makes him even more amazing!
He stands as one of those rare brilliant actors who still have their heads firm on their shoulders and much above the waters.. with dignity, class, and a bit of humor..
@ubercarrots *Attempts* at jokes, that's both harsh and true. They aren't really that funny but I still love his slight discomfort when trying to make us laugh!
Yes, I also noticed his reaction for "Dreamer"; but it looked like he had prepared himself for some romantic inquiry and then he seemed to be disappointed by such a common question!
I might be mistaken, but when RA was responding to the question about Sir Guy's obsessive love, I had a feeling that he was talking about himself, especially after he said: "Who knows?"
I've seen this interview more times than I can count and still I can't help giggle watching it! Richard seems to be such a lovely bloke! Who wouldn't want to meet him IRL for a chat just to see if he's just as sweet, fun and charming as he seems to be? Well, I can dream, can't I? *giggles* Richard, if you ever should read this - I wish you the very best! ;o)
BTW, i've already raved to heather that this is my favorite richard interview of all and thanks to her for posting it, since bbcamerica could remove it any minute from their site (there though, the clip is a bit clearer, those blue eyes more blinding and mesmerizing....yes, well, hmmmm).
my fave part: the second question. the host says "this is from DREAMER". richard calls out "DREAMER?", brows shoot up, head bobbles a bit, and he gets a look of profound shyness/nervous anticipation. he seems to be thinking that a racy, romantic, or very personal question is coming; of course it doesn't, so he takes a breath and moves on. but that initial reaction to "dreamer" kills me! just too sweet...what planet is he from?
I'm more of Jonas fan than a Richard fan, but I have to admit Richard seems super-sweet.... And he's got the sense of humor too. Seems like a really nice fella to me.
god, i love you, richard. the only 2 problems are that you dont know me and that you have half of the worlds female population to choose from hahahaha.
lol i really like him a lot. he somehow reminds me of my grandpa, their laughter, their nose and the kind of humor is very similar. well my grandpa was a handsome guy but not as handsome as richard i guess. hope he is a good man as my grandpa was.
hm...how is it possible for an only one man to have it all????? Beauty, intelligence, sense of humor, a voice able to seduce very angel, eyes of an angel...???and besides all that he seems to be a very nice and indigenous person....How is it possible? :)
Lol - 'his chosen profession would be James Hewitt'... thats jokes! When he said perhpas he'd be a bit of a James Hewitt, he kinda said that a bit posh don't ya think? Tehe aww he's soo cute.
It would be great to see Richard on stage! I'd love to see him doing Shakespeare at the Globe theatre in London. Maybe he could do Duke Orsino in "Twelfth night" or Benedick in "Much ado about nothing". Didn't he have plans to do a new version of "Richard III"? What happened with those plans? I'd love to see him doing that!
Okay, now I'm just going to spend the rest of my day distracted by Richard's voice saying things like: "If music be the food of love, play on!" and "Now is the winter of our discontent." He doesn't even really have to say it and I'm all in a muddle. Toby Stephens made a wonderful Orsino, but I'd love to compare the two. Yeah, they'd have to chain me in. What is it about him that makes us all go crazy. I'm a very sane person otherwise, I promise! I know I'm not the first, but I LOVE HIS LAUGH.
Yeah, I know! Toby Stephens did an excellent job but Richard as Duke Orsino would be absolutely fantastic!
Actually, Richard can play just anyone in anything - it would be great whatever! He's just such an outstanding actor! But for his sake I hope he gets to do "Richard III" since he really seems eager to do that.
Yes, he'd be perfect. Actually, I would love to see him do Shakespeare, but I'm a Richard III fan--and I really think Shakespear was writing for the Tudor propaganda machine. I wish someone would write a more factual play--and I'd love for him to play that part too. I wrote my senior thesis about this as an undergrad. If I could ever get into the zone, I might write it myself--and here we go with the fantasies . . . .
Well, I've heard that is exactly what Richard is planning. A new and more just protrait of Richard III who, according to RA (and others) wasn't at all that bad as Shakespeare made him. So Elwren, maybe RA can read your mind - or is it the other way around? ;o) Sadly though, I haven't heard a thing more mentioned about the Richard III project for a long time so I've no idea if it's going to happen or not. But I sure hope so!
Really?! I just knew we had a connection! (I'm just kidding). I'm so glad he wants to be more just to this man. I'm a librarian (as well as a medieval history major) and its because of Richard Plantagenet that England began to have real copyright laws, so there has to be some good in the man. I think the Duke of Buckingham or Henry VII was responsible for the princes' deaths. You never can trust the D. of Buckingham!
Sadly I don't know that much about english history. The only image of Richard III that springs to my mind is the comical one that appears in the first series of "The Black Adder" (one of my favorit comical tv-series by the way). But if I'm not mistaken they actually say in that series that Richard III wasn't as bad as his reputation. Let's hope that RA eventually get to do his new version of Richard III. I'd would definitely watch it!!! :oD
I'm with you Nobel4pearl. He is just so cute and charming. Wouldn't it be lovely to be able to see him on stage. I love the way he sort of hesitantly defends Guy, too. He doesn't agree with everything he does, but he understands him, and I love that. I wonder if he likes playing Bad Guy or Good Guy better. He says humiliation is the hardest part to play. Wonder if he likes having a break from the Sheriff?
Oh YES - I'd LOVE to see him on stage! But judging from how "nutty" I am about to boy I'd probably have to be chained to my seat... I'm not sure I would be able to behave if I got to see him on stage! *LOL* :oD
Oh yes there's an "mini Guy" action figure... with a horse, black of course (it rhymes, hihi). But he's right about the doll not looking that much like him. I'd rather have a real size "Guy doll"...*LOL*
Oh no, me very BAD!!! I better go to redeem my self on the naughty step now...
I'm dead. Melting. Heart attack at his smiles. Swoon. Thud. I can't believe I'm falling head over heels over RA again!!! He's such magic! The way he thinks, smile... OMG... Man in black really...
LOL! I loved this!!! It was written all over his face that he thought these questions were crazy and funny. Seemed like he really didn't want to be there but still a gentle, sarcastic, and funny guy! No pun intended. Oh, and sorry but who is James Hewit? I've heard his name before but can't remember who his is! lol! :D
Richard Armitage is absolutely adorable in this interview!!! I find it very fascinating that he who speaks with such a deep and sexy voice laughs at such a high pitch. It's sooooo cute! Just love him to bits!
he should so play harry potter in the last installment. daniel radcliffe has many qualities that resemble RA, so RA would be great in portraying the end of the HP series on screen.
I agree as well but I have a feeling they're just going to age up the original characters but if they didn't Richard would be my one and only choice to play 19 years older Harry! Hmmm. Now who would play Ginny? lol! :)
Oh that voice! And his real laugh! I think Richard Armitage is so amazing! Definitely he is a lot like his Harry Kennedy character in real life. A little shy and very sweet with a great sense of humor.
What I loved the most about this, is that Richard appeared to be enjoying himself through this interview. Excellent questions were given though, but it was refreshing to see a celebrity who wasn't just going through the motions of the interview. Seems like a guy you could have a lot of fun with! ;_)
I have always comforted myself with the thought that while he is ungodly handsome and has an unearthly charm on camera, he probably is a total ass that no one would want to be around in real life. I'd never watch an interview of him, so it was a judgment that worked well...
Jeez, everyone thumbs downed me... I dont think they understood. I totally think he's awesome, I just always pretended that because he's so otherwise flawless that he must be a jerk.
After seeing him more candidly in interviews i now have nothing to mark against him. lol.
Nice interview. I notice he says "lit ul" for little, and I've noticed other Brits doing this is. Is this a regional accent? It actually seems harder to say.
i'm british and i say 'lit ul'. its not really a regional accent thing its just the way most of us over here say it. There can be variation in the regions but with this word its mainly the same. on the other hand americans say 'liddle' almost, so its just the contrast between the 2 countries, and he doesn't have a particular regional voice in this.
It is true that we say "liddle." I've always been interested in the diff. betw. Brit and American English. Sometimes I have to use subtitles because otherwise there are a few things I miss. Maybe it's the same for you with American speech.
Yep, he was definitely referring to himself! It's adorable to hear him speak in 3rd person:) What intelligence that man exudes, you don't see that often with actors i think. Or maybe more the power to articulate it. Richard Rocks!
an incredibly intelligent man and actor, an incredibly handsome man with a gorgeous smile and a perfect body -> i simply can't help being head over heals!
I agree - I have never seen him in any color that did not suit him - whoever dresses him should be a bit more courageous in the colors he wears - I love him in blue - white - he looked great without a shirt, too. I have to say.
Why haven't I heard of him before?

Oh that voice! And his real laugh! I think Richard Armitage is so amazing! Definitely he is a lot like his Harry Kennedy character in real life. A little shy and very sweet with a great sense of humor.

What I loved the most about this, is that Richard appeared to be enjoying himself through this interview. Excellent questions were given though, but it was refreshing to see a celebrity who wasn't just going through the motions of the interview. Seems like a guy you could have a lot of fun with! ;_)

Ahaha I love at the beginning when he looks down at his all-black outfit. :D :D :D

OMG! He is so sexy, cute, and absolutely lovely in this interview! Thank you very, very, very, very, much for posting this!

I have always comforted myself with the thought that while he is ungodly handsome and has an unearthly charm on camera, he probably is a total ass that no one would want to be around in real life. I'd never watch an interview of him, so it was a judgment that worked well...
dammit.
now what?
amosunknown 3 years ago 16
lol, totally.
well maybe he is a big jerk in real life,
we can just pretend. ;)
helloloveli 3 years ago
Jeez, everyone thumbs downed me... I dont think they understood. I totally think he's awesome, I just always pretended that because he's so otherwise flawless that he must be a jerk.
After seeing him more candidly in interviews i now have nothing to mark against him. lol.
lighten up people.

Nice interview. I notice he says "lit ul" for little, and I've noticed other Brits doing this is. Is this a regional accent? It actually seems harder to say.
hhn1000 3 years ago
i'm british and i say 'lit ul'. its not really a regional accent thing its just the way most of us over here say it. There can be variation in the regions but with this word its mainly the same. on the other hand americans say 'liddle' almost, so its just the contrast between the 2 countries, and he doesn't have a particular regional voice in this.
claire571946 3 years ago
It is true that we say "liddle." I've always been interested in the diff. betw. Brit and American English. Sometimes I have to use subtitles because otherwise there are a few things I miss. Maybe it's the same for you with American speech.

Ohhh! Richard Armitage is so charming! Especially whenever he laughs in here ^^

Richard and Jonas.. :o Was he referring to himself as Richard? or King Richard >.> Himeself I'm thinking. :D That's cute
ChristineRoxUrSox 3 years ago
Yep, he was definitely referring to himself! It's adorable to hear him speak in 3rd person:) What intelligence that man exudes, you don't see that often with actors i think. Or maybe more the power to articulate it. Richard Rocks!

sorry richard but black is not THE one color, all the colors are perfect for you even orange (the golden hour)
executive2006 3 years ago 7
I agree - I have never seen him in any color that did not suit him - whoever dresses him should be a bit more courageous in the colors he wears - I love him in blue - white - he looked great without a shirt, too. I have to say.
