They should be able to do a lot of research on people's DNA and stemcells, They can pretty much do what they want with DNA these days, why not get a persons own stemcells, modify their DNA to make it so that HIV doesn't affect that DNA and then knock out that persons exsisting immune system and rebuild it with the new modified stemcells, I dont know if that's possible or not, But from what I've read about this guy that's kinda what they did to him, for a while he had no immune system at all

in this case, would the HIV virus still be able to duplicate themselves within a individual? The HIV virus won't affect that person, but can that person still transmit HIV to other people?

well this is one step closer for finding the cure remmember this is the first person it takes more than one try to get it right lol but hopefully everything goes good with this guy and future cured patients :)
