I had a lot of fun over the years, and played in a lot of crappy bands, but hey, that is the fun of it. A small small small percentage of people become famous from playing an instrument, so if that is why you are playing, to be famous, then you should probably consider your time wasted. Ye if i were you i would learn a finger tehnique called the walking pitch squeal you use your index finger to push your pinky through the strings. It gives you an amazing sound and hendrix even used it.
