It must be hard to adjust to life in South Korea after being programmed from birth. It must also be really hard being free while knowing your family is starving and persecuted and not allowed to leave North Korea and you can't help them.
Would be nice if all newcomers to a country were as determined as this lady to succeed and use all opportunities to their advantage rather than free load. There are a number of newcomers who do work hard to build a life for themselves and their children, yet there are a greater number who try to live of the system and get involved in illegal activities.
@trainmaster5000 people like you always have to say poor, powerless people are freeloaders living a high life on your dime. i wonder just how much YOU actually Produce relative to your lifestyle. the rich businessmen are the freeloaders. kim il sung is the freeloader, he is a capitalists dream come true. a monopoly on everything.
@MisterBouncyBounce as a working citizen I have no interest in helping people that aren't willing to get off their butts and work. There are people in this world who are significantly disadvantaged due to limited resources and an ineffective government. My beef is with people who enter the western world (I am not saying all) and expect the government to take care of them in the form of welfare. I help people that are willing to help themselves and pay them appropriately.
There are many people who have come to places like Canada and the US with little else other than big dreams and have worked hard to make these dreams reality. IMHO people like them deserve every penny they earn.
I am for social business - not free hand outs. There's a difference between the two.
@trainmaster5000 yeah i understand your beef. what you don't understand is your preoccupation with "your beef". you don't get what i am saying and i doubt you ever will.
People who work: Pay them so that they can have enough money to enjoy life comfortably
People who don't work because of mental/physical challenges: subsidize them
People who are new to a country: Make sure the resources are available to help them and then help for a limited time. If the individuals show no signs of willingness to change or improve cut the funding off immediately
@trainmaster5000 one more things: pay the people (eg. Coffee growers in other countries who are often exploited) enough so that they can take care of their families.
one thing that intrigues me is that there is a substantial North Korean community here in Japan where I live and they have their own schools ( I taught at one of them) but despite being free from the oppressive regime , and living in a democratic country where they're free to say and do what they like, they still have pictures of Kim Jong Il on their classroom walls and they still revere him like he's a god rather than the fat little scumbag he really is!!
Also, before calling a country stupid. Learn how to spell! And North Korea propaganda has fooled you, and you're living in the outside world too. That's a shame.
North Koreans look older cuz they suffer too much.. not eat well, stay in outside, no lotions that will protect them from sun.. South Koreans are more taller, heavier.. Most North Koreans look older compare to South.
I am so thankful for my parents. My parents are both north koreans immigrants and they gave birth to me in the US. This video makes me want to work harder . I kind of felt bad for my parent's country tho. even tho it makes me north korean i do not blame north/south korea nor america. They make the right choice of leaving north korea early!
@Shihan01011 Wow then you should really be thankful to them for making that choice! You are sooo lucky! Let's hope the situation will change sooner or later.
@Shihan01011 i feel partially the same way as you do, my father and my fathers family was an escapee from north korea during the korean war, and moved down to south korea in seoul where my dad met my mother. so it makes me half north korean and half south korean. i feel blessed living in america where i was born, and i do feel bad for north korea, and i still do see them as part of my life and part of my family, even though the north korea is corrupted they are still my bloodline
@Shihan01011@Shihan01011 So I have some questions. How did your parents reacted when Kim Jong II died? And how did your parents came to the US... is there a connection of your parent journey?
@Shihan01011 you are really lucky and should be very grateful to your parents! I hope you've watched all youtube documentaries about North Korea to fully understand what your parents went through. All the best to your family. We pray for North Korea.
well i give her credit for wanting to do her Best, Buts whats wrong just working a Regular Job in SK? she has Freedom. how is she paying for schooling?
@beatnix99 oh yeah thats Right i can see how they would think they are getting special Treatment but what the hell they are always saying we "are one"
what do they think is gonna happen once reunification Happens there will
be a Mass Exodus to the south, but they say they want to Reunifie
It's a complicated issue. On one hand the Koreans want to reunite but at what cost. If the Koreas were to reunite how will the S Korea feed, clothes, and house the millions of refugees who will more than likely flood the south looking for food and shelter. rebuilding N. Korea will bankrupt S Korea if this happens. Koreans see this problem as a problem that no one wants to sacrifice anything to fix.
@beatnix99 true I know & ubderstand that. but if they did it alittle at a time
keep them seperate But have s koreans Build stuff in the North & create
Jobs in the north. No threat from kim = No use for a Big Millitary save Millions there. with ten years many things would be estalished. the USA & Japan would help, many countries would. reunification can be done but they would have to
@MetalHeart8787 There was such a program called the "Sunshine policy". It was a policy where the S Korean government and industries would invest in N Korea which would have given N Korea a chance to slowly develop them self. Unfortunately, N Korea burned every symbolic "bridge" S Korea has tried to build since. Shooting of a S Korean tourist several years ago, testing of ballistic and nuclear weapons, possible torpedoing of a S Korean navy ship recently, and many more incidents like this.
@MetalHeart8787 has disheartened the S Koreans. S Korea has invested millions if not billions of dollars on humanitarian aid, and investments. Your idea is optimistic in this case. We are dealing with a power hungry leader who will never willingly give up his throne.
she is 19? looks like 30...
but anyway, I wish her all the best, all the best for all north korean refugees!!!!!

@MisterBouncyBounce Let me make this simpler for you:
People who work: Pay them so that they can have enough money to enjoy life comfortably
People who don't work because of mental/physical challenges: subsidize them
People who are new to a country: Make sure the resources are available to help them and then help for a limited time. If the individuals show no signs of willingness to change or improve cut the funding off immediately
People who don't want to works: no $

@MetalHeart8787 S Korean government gives defectors living expense and housing... She is using that to her advantage and studying while she can.
That is one of the reason S Koreans look down on defectors. They feel that the N Koreans get special treatment that none of the S Koreans receive.
