  • Good review :-) I have some of the games you are playing but i play Famicom cassettes on a totaly diffrent console. I use a Dendy to play these games. One good thing with the Dendy is that you can remove controllers and place with a new one. The Famicom console you cant do that.

  • @Bolt2600 Nope: it's much too small to fit the plug for the RAM cartridge, and (as we say in the same breath) exists ON the RAM cartridge itself.

  • POOF

    MUGSHOT

  • The NES 2?

  • Sharp also made "Famicom titler" which was basicly a famicom with builded vhs subtitler/editor and it also has updated graphical chip which has RGB video output.

  • Of interest historically (though it will get me booed here) that RF converter port looks (based on the close up) to be the same cable from the Sega Master System and later the one they used for the Model 1 Sega Genesis. You can pick up a reproduction cable like that for about $4.95. If you're in the mood to toy with it, why not risk the $5?

(No booing the guy who knows his Segas.)

  • @100sonicdash No booing necessary: coaxial RF output for all consoles (and other video devices) are completely interchangeable.

  • @100sonicdash It also looks Like the S-VIDEO port.

  • How do you show the Famicoms talking without showing your hands?

  • @McNubcake We just give them their lines and send an endless supply of microchips to their trailers. ;)

  • I picked up a Turbo Twin Famicom (AN-505BK) and recieved it a few days ago with Super Mario USA, Akoumajou Densetsu and Super Mario Bros. 2. loving it so far. looking forward to future episodes.

  • @tom02369 Nice haul!

We have a bunch of Season 2 videos (in HD!), so if this is the last one you've seen you have quite a few more to go! ;)

  • Wait, there was a DVD Player Gamecube? What the...?

  • @TheOrangeBanjo Yup, made by Panasonic, but Japan-only. Region 2, not worth much to people in the US.

  • what's the name of the website where you can get your own famicom?

  • Have you ever heard of the Hanabishi Family Computer? we had that in the 80's also KO family Computers that looked real.

I still play Famicom games on my nokia phone using an emulator and a wii remote

  • @chaofreak8 The Famicom 3D System? It plugs into the 3rd controller port in the front (which is too big for the one on the FDS).

I coulda sworn we found something once that works with it, but I can't remember.

  • @SeanOrange Well, there's that cable that allows you to up load FDS games to the RAM adapter...

  • @Dant2142 But that's after-market, right? Still, it says something that it works like that...

  • @SupahSonic7734 It sounds like the 505R. Congrats on finding one!

  • @SeanOrange Yeah that's exactly what it is! Aside from the color, it's just a Turbo Twin right?

  • @SupahSonic7734 Yup! ;)

  • At 8:56 what does M.S. stand for?

  • @Clovervidia That question is answered in the Sega Family Tree special. ;)

  • @Clovervidia master system

  • @Clovervidia master system

  • Hey, I was wondering if you're ever going to do a show about the Famicom Titler... Man do I wish I had one of those things...

  • Ejecting cartridges at your friend for the win!

  • The Sharp machines look really well made, Nintendo had a good partner there.

  • you are forgetting one more sharp famicom witch is the famicom tiler

  • Nintendo intrigues everyone with those mysterious expansion ports...

    ...and taunted Americans.

  • @TheMarioMan1 are you thinking that the famicom disk system ac adpater look's like

  • @robocop12345671

No, I was talking about the expansion ports on the Famicom and NES.

  • @TheMarioMan1 my mistake for saying that

  • can you use the storage adapater

  • Hey Sean, Do you live in japaN?

  • @NicholasGalvan No, but Vinnk does. I'm just a perennial visitor.

  • @SeanOrange Ah, cool!

BTW, I got an NES a few days ago, even with a new 72-pin connector, does it still have a blinking red light?

  • By any chance does Vinnk live in Japan?

  • Yeppers, married and with a baby too!

  • Ahh I thought so, The Ramen Place, the "ビデオ" sign in the corner of his TV screen, Having Access to all types of Nintendo Famicom systems.. It all makes sense!

I live in Tokyo myself. Its a very very crowded place but awesome different culture. The gaming culture is sooo huge that its "glamorous".

  • You are the luckiest guy ever

  • FORM OF DOMO KUN!!! vvvwoop!! (domo wearing boots)

  • oh my gosh i want one!!!!

  • this is probably the only education i actually like

  • dude thats an awesome beard

  • Why I watch Famicom Dojo? Aside from it being one of the top (if not the top) review shows on the net.. the torrid family history of the Nintendo Consoles.

Will we ever find out who the wife of Game and Watch is? Thus answering the question of who is the real Mother of our console friends.

  • Dragonball Z: Super Butouden 3!!

    I have that too.

    So much fun ^_^

  • poor peso... vink was having to much funn...

  • i thought you guys were gonna date that girl from firefly...

  • M.S.? Master System? Is Ninten chan the bastard child of NES and Master System?

  • Hm! What a very interesting and compelling theory!

  • I want a famicom dojo shirt as well, Id say 10-15$ would be a good price if your looking for customer opinions

  • Hi! Great video as always. I may get one but can I just ask if it will work in the U.K. if I get a mains adapter? If not will the regular Famicom work?

  • I'm in the UK and have both Twin and AV famis. For the Twin you really need an original adaptor, and also a stepdown transformer. Maplins do a good one for £10-20 which is what I use. For the AV Famicom, you can use a UK NES or SNES power adaptor. A half-decent multi-adaptor could probably do both.

Regular Famicoms don't work on UK televisions at all BTW since they're RF only, and UK RF receivers don't support the required frequency.

Feel free to message me if you need any more Fami advice :)

  • Thanks for your help!

  • an famicom will work on an UK TV if the tuning goes high enough, i've found that VHF 77 with an little extra fine tuning should get an RF famicom to work, for the mains just use the famicom's power supply with an stepdown converter

  • do you know when the next episodes gonna be up?

  • We'll be doing Denhimail evry two weeks for the forseeable future, maybe with a special or two thrown in there. If you mean season 2...? That's gonna be a little while.

  • ok thank you very much

  • Not to get too geeky, but expansion ports "C" and "D" wouldn't just be jumpers to get port "B" over to the disk drive, would they?

  • Quite possibly... if we knew what we could plug in to B to test it! :O

  • keep it boys you are very good

  • omg i sooo want a famicom dojo shirt!!

  • Good to hear! We're actually looking in to that. How much would you pay for one?

  • I would pay 10 bucks for one

  • I should rephrase -- what's the MOST you would pay for one?

  • 10 bucks

  • im with SSBBbrawler...prolly $10

  • Good news! There's a sale!

  • (of DVDs, whooops! Didn't read. There's also one XL shirt left.)

  • Cant wait till next season .

    Miss the talking famicoms/nes already.

  • Thanks! You'll get more of them before the next season starts -- worry not!

  • Good information. But your humor is biting.

  • Like edge-of-your-seat nail-biting? Hahaha

  • does the super famicom power adapter work with the orginal famicom?

  • you're not very good at Gradius... :P

    Otherwise, great info! Loved it!

  • Thanks!

  • Do a Video on the AV Famicom

  • We'll get there! We just introduced the NES 2, after all.

  • The American one?

  • Yup.

  • your best episode so far.

  • Thanks!

  • Who is the "M.S." who wrote the letter?

  • That is a fascinating question. Who do you think it is?

  • Master System?

  • Hmm... interesting theory... ;)

  • Do you plan to make an episode covering Famicom pirates?

  • It's a very interesting subject, and probably ties into the reasons why Nintendo didn't release the Disk System outside of Japan.

  • I wonder how long it takes fer you guys to make the videos of these.

  • That's not a bad question, and I will consider it for our mailbag!

  • Awesome video! :)

Poor NES II. Bastard child. :(

  • And all this time I thought PC Engine (Turbo Grafx-16) was the first system to have default controllers with turbo features. Great video! :D

  • It's funny you should point that out, but explaining why would give away production secrets that I'm not yet ready to reveal.

  • Nice use of Gradius!

And it's really great to finally have some light shed on the Twin Famicom, for which I knew almost nothing about, besides it combining the Famicom with the Disk System and its Turbo variation.

  • Have you considered adding any of the NES hardware clones to Famicom Dojo (I.e The Retro Duo and FC Twin)?

  • Not really, mostly because I don't find them very interesting. But it would be worth it to talk about them just to explain the differences between them an the non-clones, and why you're always better off getting the genuine article.

Example number 1: clones have no sound expansion port -- or at least certain ones don't.

  • Yeah... I've noticed that on my Retro Duo to be honest. Thanks though.

  • poof mugshot!!

  • cool

  • Great stuff as always!

  • Which video editing software do you guys use?

  • I've been using Pinnacle Studio 10, mostly because it came free with my video capture device. I got used to it, even though it has a lot of quirky problems and is prone to crashing. I've considered upgrading to version 12, but I could just as readily move to a new, more professional editor. You know, one that has more than two video and audio tracks...

  • OK, thank you for the answer!

  • Very informative, never really knew about this.

  • that was awesome

  • the super famicom looks like the german snes

  • That's because the European SNES used the Super Famicom design. I think only North America got the redesigned version. It's something we'll fully research and talk about when we do our Super Famicom/NES video.

  • greatest video game show EVER.

  • Man you guys do such awesome work. This was like a Christmas present to me. What does Vinnk's shirt say?

P.S. Expect another purchase from me Vinnk.

  • The shirt says "Everyday is Hell"

  • great job

  • Awesome episode! Definately a cool remake of the original FC. It's interesting that the 'Famicom 2' included AV support, but the NES 2 dropped it. Especially since the original NES seemed to have a lot of support here. Looking forward to your next season!

  • Those projectile cartridges give a new meaning to the word Hadouken XD

  • GRADIUS!! I've been going through a Gradius phase all week. I have one like every 2-3 months, lol.

  • Great final episode of season 1 Keep up the good work!

  • Great video, man!

Keep it up your good work! :D

    Add to favourites!

  • LOL AWESOME

  • awesome!
