@TheBurny300 The instruments that are being played include various types of saxophones;including soprano, alto, tenor, and bass. This song was originally made for clarinets, though.
Look for an arrangement by Susan Fancher. I think that's the one the Prism Quartet is using in this performance. It comes with the quartet parts plus a recording of the accompanying track.
@dartboy7777 Look up, Susan Fancher New York Counterpoint in Google. There should be a link on Boosey and Hawkes for her arrangement... the sax quartet arrangement comes with a tape with the other eight background parts.
The saxophonists on the CD that accompanies the four live players are Susan Fancher, soprano and alto saxophones, and Mark Engebretson, tenor and baritone saxophones. The arrangement is by Susan Fancher and is available from Boosey and Hawkes.
I just talked to Dr. McAllister (Soprano player in this video) and he said the alto player is Michael Ibrahim. He subbed with PRISM during the search for a new alto player.
I highly recommend their new recording of music by William Albright -- the _Fantasy Etudes_, especially, is just amazing.
Any particular reason you cut out a large chunk of the second movement? Also, you might have i.d.'d the composer (Steve Reich); I found this video purely by chance, and it doesn't show up if one searches for "Reich," "saxophone," etc.
This was a crime to post this video without indicating that it is the Prism Quartet! It consists of Dr. Timothy McAllister on soprano, Matt Levy on tenor, and Taimur Sullivan on baritone. I don't recognize the alto player, so perhaps this performance took place sometime after Michael Whitcombe left but before Zach Shemon joined.
I thought so! Great performance! I don't think their name is the NY Sax quartet, but I can't recall for sure. I was performing Eight Lines with TACTUS on that concert.

This is still my favorite version of NY Counterpoint, the tone is just superb. I would say this is well suited for the sax.

I need the sax quartet music for this. It's originally scored for 11 clarinets but I can't find the sax version anywhere. Help?

Dr. McAllister's tone is amazing!

This is beautiful beyond words. I like this better than the clarinet (original) version. The sax really brings more power and clarity to this piece.

Cool. I've never really given minimalistic stuff a chance before now.

As a clarinet and sax doubler, I was glad to see this transcription materialize. Wow, the baritone really adds more than I imagined. Bravo, guys!
