Thanks FUHGI. The first instrument you hear is a flute and then I layered some other slightly odd sounds on top of it just to give it that extra something but I'm not sure what that something is!!

Hey, that's good. Only advice would be to equalize the guitar sample (I think that's the one I'm hearing) to get rid of the harshness. It would just be more relaxing that way. I really like this song though. It reminds me of eluvium.

Thanks 0TAKE99. I'll keep that advice in mind. I didn't mean it to sound harsh but I did want it to sound a bit rough around the edges to give a slight children's orchestra feel for a touch of poignancy.

Ah, I see, well if you meant it to sound that way that's completely different. It does have it's own appeal. I'm curious, did you take multiple samples (for higher and lower notes) from the different instruments?

No. Just the one sample of each which is basically down to laziness!! Mind you it's hard to find even one long note to sample. Most people demonstrating their instruments on YouTube want to show off how fast they can play. Finding one long note (preferably without vibrato)is like finding a gold nugget!!

Thanks 1lilnigga. I uploaded this a few times privately and the sound quality was very bad so I tried reducing the volume and then it was just about acceptable. I didn't want it as loud as a slamming techno track anyway. I'm looking into ways of avoiding YouTube's poor quality compression. No, I'm not really 97 but I'm no spring chicken either.
