oh paul, (hehe) mad me laugh becuase its something i would do ! just panic, freeze, forget to grab tightly and ploop off the side. Helmet next time hey mate :P
ooo.. ouch looks like he hurt his wrist pretty bad.. i am very fortunet as i have never been hurt in any of my falls.. but i think it was pretty stupid of the horses owners to let him ride the horse witout a helmet.. for the reason that wat haappend..can happen to anyone
wow... i can ride a bucking horse bareback and jump as well.. but i do remember my first time bareback on an arabian... never again... But on a TB racer or not its the same thing...
Helmet. And umm yaa okk... you could tell it wasnt going to turn out well when the guy was mounting and gently tapped the horse in the rump and he jumped. My horse is super calm when i ride her. Even bareback. I can jump around on her back and shes perfectly fine but i still would never let an amateur on her bareback.
it looks like a TB to me, but I doubt its actively racing because he has the look of a riding horse. i have given pony rides on my thoroughbred (he's training in dressage and eventing) and when i tell the little girls he used to be a racehorse, they're like, i gotta tell my friends i rode a racehorse. Laymen don't discriminate between racehorses and ex-racehorses, its the same thing to them.
Everybody can sit on a racehorse! But if you are an amateur the racehorse will sense that maybe a little faster than normal horses. It all depends on the character of the horse and not if its a racehorse or not. That could have happend to the guy with any other horse in the world.I got a racehorse myself and kids can sit on her and walk around. Some horses stay cool others not, that has nothing to do with thoroughbred or not...
every horse is different you OTTB sounds espeicially calm but my trainer has a horse that was OTTB and he had to be under extensive training for around 2 years with proffesionals b4 any of the advanced riders could even trot him and she has just know got him to a point were he can be sold as a highstrung prospect and he was trained by the best, not every one can sit on a race horse.
that was stupid. who would ever put an amature on a racehorse? AND let them go? No lead rope or anything? The rider was totally in control! I would never do that! Why would anyone want to ride a racehorse if they've never even ridden?
You know, once I was badly hurt falling from a racehorse (stallion) that I had no business being on. Though I had been riding several days a week for over five years, it takes a very skilled rider to manage a horse of that energy. I sympathize that he probably did not even realize the risk he was taking. I've been riding for 15 years and I still wouldn't have mounted that horse--certainly never on a concrete road with no saddle and no helmet. I hope this gentleman turned out alright.
nice i did that once... only my horse accualy had a saddle on... that makes me feel lame... lol... and i fell rigt into a fire pit when it happened so dont feel too bad... lol
Awe. That guy must have been so freaked out when the horse startled. I mean it's a raceing horse! When a person hits it on the butt that means GO!!! It's a hyper horse and it shouldn't be riden by beginners. :P
I've ridden bareback lots of times before, but I have fallen off twice. However, both times I had fallen off I was riding with a saddle. I had never fallen off riding bareback.
I'm currently looking at buying my racehorse but don't know how to ride so you got guts to ride her bareback haha. I think if i buy mine i'm not dare go on her. They look so responsive don't they, the little kick and they're away!! wow.
sorry, but if you're thinking of buying any horse and you don't know how to ride, a racehorse is probably the worst choice.
while there are some exceptions, most racehorses spook easily, are not trained for anything other than just to GO, take a lot of training to get out of that mindset, and really, there are so many other options of horses that can be trained to handle a beginner.
if you don't know how to ride thinking of buying ANY horse not just a OTTB is suicidal, TAKE LESSONS for at least 4 years!!!! I've been riding for around 5 years and im just know considering LEASEING a horse and i know for a fact im not gonna own for at least 2 more years, god be responsible!!!!
ok, No helmet, no saddle(even though riding bareback is fun), no saddle pad, and no lead line!? Crazy!! That horse is not a lesson horse that knows how to handle people plopping all over his back. That just seemed like a stupid thing to do.
That looks like a warmblood rather than a TB - Not the horse's fault he yanked into his mouth. If you cant ride bareback use a saddle and put a hat on !!!
i've done that before. i galloped a TB a furlong in the middle of the night. it was the quarter horse distance or something like that. i was bareback. it was the most fun i've ever had in my entire life.
Hmm. An unstable chair instead of a mounting block, a fidgety horse, hard ground, and a very inexperienced rider. Recipe for disaster! It was funny, though, as long as the horse\person wasn't hurt, except for yeah the wrist thing. Haha horse novices crack me up.
stellankenny not all racehorses ar hyper and hot headed. maybe it was an OTTB?? i used to lease one and he was golden. and hes over 18, he doesnt have to wear one ( though i do agree with you he should have worn one) and not everyone wears long pants riding bareback. jeeze, people do stupid things, the horse wasnt injured, and thats justa bout the only thing that matterd. oh yeah and the guy was alright in the end, lol!
This was a very, very foolish and dangerous thing to do. Let's see; a racehorse, an inexperienced rider, no helmet and short pants riding bareback. You are extremely lucky that his injuries weren't more serious or that this horse didn't really take off on him. What a wonderful example the adults are showing to the child that was there in horse safety. I can't believe this was even posted to show the world how foolish and irresponsible the people involved are
does he even KNOW HOW to ride???????lmao
