his kids are good sport i would love to try to live out side but one downfall my wife donet like that shit and i like to shower other then that i think i could do it
@Serostern well, its more of a community thing, superstition, like how people believe in religion and have their houses "blessed" and what not, faith is faith and yeah i think its all ridiculous too but some of us need that security blanket, i think he still teaches some quality bushcraft, keep in mind people like him and bear grylls are actors first and everything else is second.....
I could get the point of blessing the house, nailing crosses to it or hanging garlic in the bedroom, but no dowser has EVER found more water than a drunk dude holding a banana saying "dig here bro!"
Surprised again! Had no idea that some of you still believed in dowsing. Here I was thinking that astrology, homeopathy, telepathy, judeo-christianity, palm reading, absolute enlightenment, "the Secret," alien abduction, karma, chakras, and crystal healing would be enough for you. Well done. You're keeping me on my toes.
I live in Australia and have been drinking rainwater straight from the tank with no filtration system for over25 years in both the suburbs and in various rural areas. I've never been sick from rainwater. I far prefer it to town water, which tastes like chemicals.
Seriously what would be the point of having electricity created by solar panels if you weren't going to use it to plug things into the wall? Being off the grid does not require one to be Amish. In this day and age, with the technology we have , one can live off the grid rather easily. It just takes having some extra money to invest. You will actually be saving money in the long run. You will only have a certain amount of water and electricity to use, but you conserve it and make it work.
No, living off the grid means you have your own power source that isn't depending on the power company. It doesn't mean that you can't have electricity, and he obviously has electricity at the end of this, so.
It also means that you aren't dependent on someone elses Water System. And they have a cell phone,. You weren't paying attention.
Off the grid does not mean what you claim and it isn't hard to live off the grid. This show made it look hard for dramatic effect.
No one ever thinks Raccoons are good Farm Animals. Why not get some goats or cows or horses or chickens if they want to give their kids animals to take care of around there? This show is rather dumb.
Just wondering how realistic this is. If you had four people to a hundred and fifty acres all over the world, would there be enough land for everyone? So much clearing of trees and the use of machines to get this all done, isn't this just the start of how our current civilization got to be what it is today? He has a cell and a truck. It's like living in a really cool cabin in the woods with all the amenities!
@raynaldduluth I know we can't live primitive cause at some point we will make more buildings more land more water and it will get to what it is today...
i just lost some respect for les stroud with this dowsing crap.. hes starting to look like some crazy naturalist who doesnt like any technology and hunts for ghosts or something
I don't believe in it. But since I don't understand it, it could actually work. My theory is that if it works it is based on the subconcious mind analyzing clues and using dowsing to present them to the consious mind.
@kekejojo1212 I don't think so. I mean personally I would love to get out and try to live off the land. And I am as much connected to society as others... facebook, Apple Computer, Blackberry, social life, job, school....It be cool to prove you can do it
@steve625c6 You don't have to live in total isolation to be off the grid. Off the Grid means that you are making your own energy by means that you have created such as Wood Fires in a METAL STOVE even,,, Methane gas from poop and yard waste, and scraps of food and paper , solar panels, and wind turbines.. This guy in the video makes it much harder than it really is and is doing a great disservice to the movement.
@gabehampton I beg to differ. What you are describing is being environmentally friendly. "Off the Grid" means he is not only living conservatively and making his own power, but mentally they are moved from they ways of normal life. They don't have the luxury of cellphone service, TV, amenities, etc.

It just shows how strong the power of suggestion is if Les actually thinks he's feeling a stick point towards the "force" of the water.
