Jerusalem is not a "settlement," but capital of Israel, w/ long attachment of Jews to it for over 3000 years (King David even paid for the Temple Mount), never the capital of any other nation, & was only captured & occupied by Jordan (then called Transjordan) in 1948 in an illegal war of aggression against Israel, so when Jordan again attacked Israel in '67 and lost Jerusalem, Israel in self-defense won it back from them who only had it illegally to being with & who's not claiming it now anyway.
